Chapter 1993 - 880: Master of Dreams_2

"Mm, perhaps it’s just a coincidence." The Book of Knowledge mused. "After all, in the Soul Wilderness, more than half of the Stars have yet to leave behind ash."

Rod nodded slightly. That was also possible, but with the [Ashen Throne] in his hands, reclaiming the ash of every Star was only a matter of time.

He turned his gaze toward the Soul Altar; within the Sealing Crystal Wall, two more powerful Souls had appeared.

After this battle, he had not only taken back the Dream Fragment and recovered the ash, but also obtained an immense quantity of Divinity, along with a "Great Divine Soul" and a "True Divine’s Soul," as well as countless Source Laws, Nightmare Fuel, and Divine Source Material.

From this point on, there was no longer any obstacle on the road to reigniting the Stars; the Master of Dreams’ return to the Peak was now only a question of time.

The only remaining task was to enter the very bottom of the Abyss and find the traces of that supremely evil man.

Rod drew in a deep breath, withdrawing his mind from the Dream Realm. Only then did the dust that filled the Space slowly descend; the towering black dust cloud gradually dissipated. The colossal body of that terrifying monster had completely turned to ash, its dim gray particles carpeting the whole ground of the Abyss.

Yet within this thick layer of dust, Rod saw an unspeakably fearsome great pit. It was at least several hundred thousand yards across, its bottom invisible to the eye. The dense darkness suffusing the pit seemed to lead straight to the very bottom of the Abyss.

An unimaginably ancient and rotten aura rose from within the pit. Rod’s Soul felt an indescribable wickedness, an infinitely primordial sensation spreading through his mind, as though this aura had existed since the dawn of Creation.

All of a sudden, the panicked shout of the Book of Knowledge rang in his mind: "The Abyss—this is the true Abyss, the most primordial, the very first Abyss!"

Rod’s eyes widened; he could hardly believe what he was seeing. This enormous pit was actually a passage that led straight to the very bottom of the Abyss?

That Primordial-level [Justice Execution] possessed such tremendous power that it not only slew a Fallen True God Level monster, but even punched through the Abyss?

"That’s right, master!"

The Book of Knowledge shouted hysterically: "This monster was a part of the Abyss itself. A portion of its body was linked to the extremely deep layer and the deepest layer of the Abyss. The overwhelming power of the Primordial-level [Justice Execution] annihilated the entire monster. Saying that it pierced through the Abyss is not the slightest exaggeration, because this is the Unique passage into the deepest layer of the Abyss. Under the isolation of such mighty Source Laws, the [Spirit Boat] cannot possibly cross it to enter the very bottom of the Abyss. It’s not that it cannot traverse Space, but that its Source Laws would be neutralized—unless you possess Source Laws even stronger than theirs, master."

Rod’s heart began to pound violently. The very bottom of the Abyss lay just before his eyes; the traces of that supremely evil man were there. The secret of the Black Fog’s birth had never been so close to him.

No wonder the Black Fog had erupted in such a massive convulsion. It was not only because he was about to reclaim the Dream Fragment, the ash, and the shattered Source Artifact, but also because he had drawn unimaginably near to the true Black Fog Source.

Should he go down?

A tremendous impulse surged up in Rod’s heart, but he forcibly suppressed it at once.

No!

Absolutely not!

The very bottom of the Abyss surely concealed a terror beyond imagination. That was the lowest point of all Position, the place where every filth finally converged. If the Black Fog Source truly lay at the very bottom of the Abyss, and the powerful Source Artifact was already shattered, then if he rashly entered, would that not be walking to his death?

However, if he did not go, would this passage leading to the very bottom of the Abyss perhaps vanish after some time?

Rod could clearly feel that although the Black Fog had been temporarily smashed by him, it would soon return in force, and until then, this was an exceedingly fine opportunity.

In the flash of a thought, he made his decision: reignite the Stars first, then enter the very bottom of the Abyss.

The Book of Knowledge also cried out: "Master, this is an opportunity. If the very bottom of the Abyss were an untouchable Dead Land, where you would perish the instant you set foot, then the Black Fog could not possibly show such a powerful disturbance!"

The Book of Eternity flipped its pages at a frantic speed; the Golden Light surging from the gaps nearly drowned it. Yet this time, it did not immediately foretell the future: "Aaah, aaah, I can’t see. The future is a field of gray! It’s too distant, far beyond my limit. I can’t see anything at all!"

Rod was not surprised. The truth of the Black Fog Source was not something that could be glimpsed at the level of the Book of Eternity, but his decision remained unchanged.

By now, the dust had dispersed, and Chucher and the others appeared within his sight. The Spiritual Energy barrier had already fallen. They looked completely unharmed, untouched by the aftermath.

The scene before them utterly stunned them. Everything that had just occurred lay far beyond their comprehension; not a single person could utter a word.

Smack!

Viheler slapped himself. "Am... am I dreaming? Is this an illusion? Has my mind been invaded?"

Chucher stared at that immeasurably vast deep pit and cried out in shock: "Th-this... this is a road leading to the very bottom of the Abyss?"

In the simplest possible words, Rod recounted to them the course of events. Then he activated the [Spirit Boat] and opened the Teleportation Gate. This time, the white light unfolded smoothly before their eyes, and the Holy Fire Sacrificial Ground appeared on the other side.

"We return to the Royal City first," he said calmly.

"Why?" Viheler cried anxiously. "This is an excellent opportunity—we absolutely cannot miss it!"
