Chapter 1880: Saving a Taste for Hua
Little Taotie reached out to grab, but caught nothing, blinking a bit confused.
Meng Po seemed amused and laughed heartily, laughing until she bent over backwards.
Little Taotie puffed out her cheeks, and a strand of Golden Light appeared on her small hand. The light lingered briefly, encircling her fair and tender little hand, as if bathed in warm light, making her hand warm.
After the light disappeared, Little Taotie reached out again to grab the watermelon slice, this time holding it steadily.
Meng Po stopped laughing and nodded in satisfaction: "You’ve improved a lot since we first met."
Little Taotie pressed her lips together, feeling a bit embarrassed, and her little face reddened, with her Little Dimple gently sinking in.
Meng Po smiled: "What’s there to be embarrassed about? Look, your little face is all red."
Meng Po reached out to pinch that fair, tender little face.
Little Taotie felt a gentle breeze lightly brushing across her face, without much sensation.
Meng Po squinted: "You’ve become more rounded since we first met."
Little Taotie: "..."
Little Taotie silently ate the watermelon, taking a bite, her big eyes lighting up, and her chewing sped up, like a little squirrel.
"Awu~" Little Taotie finished the last bite.
She even felt the urge to bite the rind.
She gnawed so cleanly that the white part between the pink watermelon flesh and rind was all gone.
"Tut, it seems you and I both like this kind of watermelon." Meng Po’s eyes flashed with affection, and with a wave of her hand, she generously handed over another slice: "Eat up."
Horse-face wanted to ask her for a slice, but it was as hard as reaching the heavens, yet now Meng Po had already given away two slices.
Little Taotie’s Little Dimple sank deeply, looking at Meng Po with bright crystal eyes, like a cute little Kitty, well-behaved and adorable, with big eyes innocent and bright, making one want to take a sip.
Meng Po also wanted to give Xiao Zaizai a peck, but halfway through she withdrew.
She wasn’t ignorant; she noticed the little girl didn’t see the hidden mole, also realizing Xiao Zaizai wasn’t someone just anyone could approach.
Seeing her finish the second slice and then stare longingly at her with a gaze of desire, reason told Meng Po not to give her more, but her actions were decidedly honest as she handed over yet another slice.
Meng Po coughed unnaturally: "That’s the last piece."
Little Taotie blinked, gazed at the remaining half watermelon, then looked down at the small slice in her hand, pursed her lips but still obediently said "mm" before taking small bites to savor.
This watermelon wasn’t very sweet, with a clean sweet taste, as it wasn’t quite ripe, so it didn’t have a cottony texture; each bite was crunchy and juicy.
Little Taotie suddenly paused in her actions.
Meng Po saw there was only one bite left of the watermelon in her hand and twitched her mouth: "What? Can’t bear to bite it, planning to save it for New Year?"
Little Taotie blinked, voice soft and sweet: "I... want to save it for Hua Jinyan to taste."
"He really should thank you, eating three pieces and then remembering to save a bite for him?"
Little Taotie’s face flushed, conflicted: "It’s too delicious... I originally wanted to save half for him, but I couldn’t resist..."
The little girl lowered her eyes, with a hint of self-reproach in her gaze, with a soft little voice: "I was too greedy..."
Meng Po’s hand itched, couldn’t help but pinch the girl’s little face again.
Little Taotie felt the breeze brushing across her cheeks, tickling, and she looked up at Meng Po, confused.
Meng Po stared, uncomfortable: "Just eat it, I’ll give you another slice."
