Chapter 1888: The Police Officer Eats Cake
The two policemen still blocked the way, and Gu Yixing’s face darkened, "What, still can’t let us pass?"
"You must wait until we’ve asked each of you, then you can leave."
"That’s really interesting, we don’t know the deceased at all!" Gu Yixing replied coldly.
"Please cooperate with our work, it won’t take much of your time."
One policeman left, presumably to conduct inquiries, while the other invited them to sit down and asked, "Would you like something to drink?"
"This isn’t the police station, I doubt there’s police station coffee here, are you in charge?"
The policeman smiled awkwardly, "I can have the hotel staff bring it to you, I’ll cover the cost."
"On the public tab?" Gu Yixing cast a suspicious glance at him.
The policeman responded helplessly, "Private tab, it can’t be reported."
Gu Yixing: "Alright then, a cup of coffee."
The policeman looked at Little Taotie, "What would you like? Hot cocoa, milk, or juice?"
"Hot cocoa!" Little Taotie’s eyes curved with a smile, "Thank you, Officer Brother, I’ll treat you to some cake!"
With that, she handed over a packaged piece of cake to the policeman, demonstrating excellent reciprocal courtesy.
Gu Yixing: "Is there a piece for me?"
Little Taotie cheerfully handed a cake that looked like a coconut to Gu Yixing, "Of course there’s a piece for Third Brother, it’s really good, I’ve already tasted a piece for you!"
"How many pieces did you taste downstairs?" Gu Yixing asked with a smile as he accepted the cake.
"Not many, just tried one of each."
"None worth a second bite? Seems the cakes here aren’t that great." Saying this, Gu Yixing scooped a bite into his mouth, wrinkling his nose, "As expected, too sweet, not enough coconut flavor, just so-so."
The piece of cake the policeman received looked like an avocado.
But it wasn’t avocado-flavored; the green part was matcha-flavored.
To him, the delicate design, mimicking an avocado, was already perfect, and the taste was quite good, very delicious indeed.
After finishing the cake, the other policeman ran over.
"I’ve asked, a room on the third floor was indeed booked by a guest for a meeting."
"There were nine people in the room at the meeting, and another twenty participated via video. One of the nine was Mr. Gu, and Mr. Gu has a solid alibi and can leave the hotel."
Gu Yixing wanted to take Little Taotie’s hand and leave but was stopped by the policeman.
"Sorry, the surveillance isn’t fixed yet, the video hasn’t been recovered, Little Taotie can’t leave for now."
Little Taotie patted the back of Gu Yixing’s hand, "Third Brother, don’t worry, I didn’t do anything wrong, it’ll be cleared up soon, go if you’re busy."
"I’m not busy, I’ll stay here with you."
"Are you really not busy?" Little Taotie tilted her head, looking at him.
Gu Yixing maintained his composure, "Not busy at all."
One policeman continued to stay with them, while the other went elsewhere.
The hotel had many policemen, but these two were in charge of questioning them.
Little Taotie asked, "Officer Brother, do you want more cake? I packed a lot, I was planning to take it home to share with Hua, but it’s late now, and he doesn’t eat after brushing his teeth."
"No need, I’ve already had a piece, enough to stave off hunger."
Little Taotie asked Gu Yixing, "Third Brother, do you want more?"
Upon hearing that the cakes were packed for Hua Jinyan, Gu Yixing got a bit jealous, grumbling, "Eat, of course, I want to eat!"
He had decided, even if it meant overeating, he’d finish all the cakes and not leave a single crumb for Hua Jinyan!
