Chapter 1922: The Trick Worked—Or Did It?
Little Taotie saw hope, but in the end, it still failed.
Little Taotie tugged on Hua Jinyan’s sleeve and whispered: "What should we do, he’s impervious to reason."
"Forget it, let’s go back."
"How can we just leave!" Little Taotie huffed: "You gave up too fast! Let’s think of another way."
Hua Jinyan: "He’s... really hard to deal with."
Little Taotie rolled up her sleeves: "If it really doesn’t work, I’ll force it down his throat."
Hua Jinyan: "Don’t be impulsive, what if... he’s like Uncle Tie, hiding his skills?"
Little Taotie got deflated.
Uncle Tie was her "shadow"!
The feeling of being unable to reach Uncle Tie with her short hands and legs when he held her head down was too frustrating.
Little Taotie coughed lightly: "Well... then let’s use our brains, violence isn’t a good thing."
Hua Jinyan saw her looking both deflated and stubborn, found it very cute, and couldn’t help but poke her little cheek.
Being poked in her cheek, Little Taotie widened her eyes, pouting angrily.
Hua Jinyan coughed lightly: "Let’s think of another way."
Little Taotie held her breath, grumbled a bit, but didn’t make a fuss.
Lu Yuan seemed quietly eating pork liver rice, not noticing the two little figures whispering sneakily by the door, but his hearing was extraordinary, he heard every word of their conversation.
Little Taotie: "He doesn’t drink alcohol, is there something else we can have him drink to make him talk?"
Hua Jinyan: "Some mushrooms with hallucinogenic effects and mild toxins."
"Poisonous?"
"Not harmful to the body."
"Where can we get them?"
"There should be some in the back mountain."
Little Taotie excitedly: "Then let’s go now!"
Hua Jinyan nodded.
Little Taotie waved her little hand at Lu Yuan at the door: "Uncle Bai Lu, we’re leaving now, we’ll see you later!"
Lu Yuan smiled: "Alright."
At dinner time, the two little friends came again.
Lu Yuan was well prepared, having been waiting for some time.
"Uncle Bai Lu, these are skewers we grilled, try them, there are both veggie and meat ones, they taste great!"
Little Taotie blinked, offering a plate of skewers like a treasure.
On a stainless steel tray were eight skewers, two of chicken, two of beef, and four of different kinds of mushrooms, sliced so it was hard to tell what variety they originally were.
Lu Yuan smiled and took them: "Thank you."
Little Taotie was a bit surprised, thinking he would refuse at first, but didn’t expect him to take them so readily.
Lu Yuan pulled out a pack of candied walnuts from the drawer: "I’ll reciprocate, try these."
Little Taotie took it and started eating happily: "It’s a bit warm, freshly made?"
"Yes."
"Uncle Bai Lu, did you make this yourself?"
"Yes."
He had already finished two skewers: "The skewers are good, did you grill them yourselves?"
"Huahua grilled them, he’s really good at it! He professionally learned how to, you know!"
"Professionally learned?" Lu Yuan curiously: "Why learn that?"
Hua Jinyan: "The family likes to eat."
"Oh?" Lu Yuan gave him a deep look, then looked at Little Taotie, "Got it."
Little Taotie asked: "Is the chicken tasty?"
"Delicious."
"You should try the mushrooms too, they’re good!"
