Chapter 913. I Promise Diana One Night... And We’ll Do It In The Household**
The summer air had been thick with the scent of jasmine and approaching storms. They had been sitting on the edge of the training grounds, their legs dangling over the stone wall.
Diana had said something small, something about wanting to see the world beyond these walls, and he had laughed, dismissive and cruel in his youthful certainty. He had told her that her place was here, at his side, building their legacy.
He hadn’t seen the way her smile had faltered. He hadn’t seen the way her shoulders had slumped, the first hairline fracture in the foundation of what they might have been.
"I didn’t know," he whispered into the empty room, his voice cracking. "I swear to God, Diana, I didn’t know."
But knowing now didn’t change the past. The past was a tomb.
Rex hadn’t just taken her body; he had taken the future Theo had built in his head, the one where they grew old together, two pillars of the House, bound by something stronger than blood. Rex had seen what Theo had been too blind to notice, and he had claimed it with a conviction that Theo could never replicate.
A sob, sharp and involuntary, tore through his throat. He pressed his fist against his mouth to stifle it, but the dam had already broken.
The tears came not as a trickle but as a flood, hot and humiliating, soaking into the expensive silk of his pillowcase.
He rolled onto his side, curling into a fetal position, the position of someone trying to protect their own heart from shattering completely. He cried for the boy who had broken her wrist, for the young man who had broken her spirit with his indifference, and for the man who was now breaking himself with regret.
He wept for the ghost of Diana, the girl who had loved him before she knew what real love was, and for the woman who would never look at him again with anything but pity.
In the suffocating darkness of his room, surrounded by the symbols of his power and his heritage, Theo Morr Nightwing finally understood that some things, once broken, cannot be mended by any amount of strength, any amount of training, or any amount of regret.
He was alone, and the silence of the House was the loudest thing he had ever heard.
While Theo drowned in the echoes of his own regrets in the cold isolation of his chambers, the atmosphere in the guest wing was charged with an entirely different kind of electricity.
The room was bathed in the amber glow of low-burning candles, casting dancing shadows across the walls. The air was thick, heavy with the musk of exertion and the intoxicating sweetness of shared desire.
Rex had claimed this space as his own, a temporary territory within the House where the rules of the Director and the heir held no dominion. Here, there was only the raw, unvarnished truth of what they wanted.
Diana lay beneath him, her pale skin luminous in the candlelight, her body a landscape of soft curves and firm muscle. They were both completely naked, stripped of their armor, their uniforms, and their pretenses.
The sheets beneath them were tangled and damp, a testament to the feverish exploration that had already begun.
Despite the intimacy, a visible tremor ran through Diana’s frame. Her fingers clutched at Rex’s shoulders, her nails leaving faint red crescents in his skin.
Her breathing was shallow, uneven, a frantic rhythm that betrayed the war raging inside her.
"Rex," she whispered, her voice thick with a mix of arousal and genuine apprehension. "We shouldn’t... what if someone comes?"
"Aurelia has ears everywhere, and Elaris... she’s always wandering where she shouldn’t--"
She cut herself off with a gasp as Rex shifted his weight, his thigh sliding between hers, sending a jolt of electricity straight to her core. The shyness she usually wore like a second skin was warring with a desperate, aching hunger she couldn’t suppress.
Rex let out a low, rumbling laugh that vibrated against her chest. It wasn’t a cruel sound, but it carried the absolute certainty of a man who knew exactly where he stood in the hierarchy of power.
He leaned down, his lips brushing against the sensitive shell of her ear, his breath hot against her skin.
"Let them come," he murmured, his voice a velvet growl. "Let them knock on the door."
"You’re being reckless," she breathed, though she arched her back involuntarily when his tongue traced the column of her throat. "This is the House, Rex... There are rules; there is protocol—"
"Fuck protocol," he interrupted, pulling back just enough to meet her gaze.
His eyes were dark, pupils blown wide with lust, burning with an intensity that made her feel exposed. "And fuck the rules..."
"Let Aurelia send a guard, and let Elaris peek through a keyhole," Rex scoffed. "What are they going to do about it?"
He pressed closer, eliminating every millimeter of space between them, forcing her to feel the painful reality of his arousal against her hip.
"They don’t know what they’re walking into," Rex continued, a dangerous smirk playing on his lips. "They think they’re walking into a guest room."
"They have no fucking idea that they’re walking into this..."
"They wouldn’t dare interrupt. Not when they know exactly who I am."
Diana shivered, a sound halfway between a whimper and a moan escaping her lips. The fear of being caught was still there, a sharp edge of anxiety, but it was rapidly being overwhelmed by the sheer, overwhelming presence of him.
Rex didn’t ask for permission; he commanded her attention, he commanded her body, and in doing so, he made the rest of the world, the House, the politics, and the Nightwing legacy feel like a distant, fading dream.
"Rex, please," she pleaded, though whether she was asking him to stop or to finally finish what they had started, she no longer knew.
"I’m not going anywhere, Diana," he promised, his hands sliding down to grip her hips, pulling her flush against him. "Tonight, there is no house... and there is no director."
"There is only this..."
He lowered his head again, and as his mouth found hers, the last vestiges of her hesitation burned away in the heat of his touch. The fear of being discovered was still a distant murmur in the back of her mind, but it was drowned out by the thunderous beating of her own heart and the undeniable, consuming reality of the man who had claimed her.
The kiss broke with a wet, desperate sound, leaving both of them panting in the dim amber light. Rex didn’t linger in the vulnerability of the moment. With the fluid, predatory grace of a man who knew exactly how to orchestrate pleasure and dominance, he pulled away.
But he didn’t release her entirely. His fingers wrapped firmly around her wrist, tugging her upward.
Diana stumbled slightly, her legs feeling like liquid as she was pulled upright. She instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck, seeking balance, and immediately her body registered the reality of him.
As she pressed against his bare torso, her stomach brushed against the unmistakable, massive heat straining against his cock. It was thick, unrelenting, and pulsing against her lower abdomen.
A soft, involuntary whimper escaped her throat, and her head lolled back, her eyes glazing over with a wide hunger that made her expression look almost intoxicated.
Rex leaned in close, his lips hovering just an inch from her earlobe. His free hand slid down her spine, gripping the swell of her ass with bruising possessiveness.
"You smell fucking incredible, Diana," he growled, his voice dropping to a register that made her toes curl. "Fresh from the shower... skin soft, clean, perfectly prepared for me."
His teeth grazed her earlobe, sending electricity cascading down her nerves. "You made sure you were perfect for this, didn’t you?"
Diana let out a shaky breath, her hips swaying unconsciously against him. "I wanted... I wanted to be ready for you."
Rex’s smirk turned wicked, something dark and deliberately cruel flickering in his eyes. "Good... Because I intend to give you exactly what I promised tonight."
"And I want to make it special." He pulled back just enough to look her in the eye, his thumb tracing her swollen lower lip. "I want to hear you scream my name loud enough to carry through these walls."
"I want to do this while Theo is somewhere close... close enough to sense what he’s lost, and also close enough to imagine what I’m doing to you."
"I want him to suffer every fucking second of your pleasure."
Diana froze for a heartbeat, the cruelty of his words clashing with the intensity of her arousal. Then, a breathless, delirious laugh escaped her.
The taboo of it, the sheer, shameless audacity of Rex’s dominance, was the final trigger.
"You are absolutely terrible," she whispered, her fingers tangling in his hair. "But God help me, I’m ready..."
"Give me everything, Rex. Give me all that love you promised."
Rex didn’t need to be told twice. He crashed his lips against hers again, this time with a feral hunger.
Their tongues met in a heated, wet battle, tasting of desperation and mutual surrender. The sound of their kissing, the wet, sliding friction of tongues, filled the quiet room like an incantation.
