The Magus of Genesis

Lesson 1 All Beginnings/PROLOGUE

"Look, you were talking about them, weren't you?

Saying so and staring at what Nina pointed at, I was stunned.

"Is that... is that human?

"Similar to me, with round ears, I live in a stone's nest. There is, isn't there?

Proudly pinned her pointy ear ahead, Nina tenses her thin chest. Sure, there was no mistake in what she said.

"Is there anyone else... who looks similar and lives another life?

"I don't know that much, but the way you live is pretty much similar,"

To the answer I returned, well, I guess so.

Once again, I stared over the scenery that Nina had pointed.

Coming from a small hill, it was an empty cave on the mountain skin.

You're just going hunting, a few men come out of it with spears made with stones bracketed around the tip of a stick. They and the women who drop it off are all dressed up just wrapped around the fur of the beast. The number of people living would be more than a dozen at best. Instead of the village, the life of the primitives was there, not even worthy of calling it a settlement.

"Oh, my God..."

Magic exists, dragons run through the sky, mysteries breathe, fairies live.

I thought unconsciously that it was something with a degree of civilization in medieval Europe because it's just such a fantasy.

But it was a big mistake.

If you think about it, because it's a fantasy, medieval Europe is a novel that has been around since recent times… it's just a common setting for something called Light Novell.

Perhaps I should be thankful for the fact that I still have a creature of my own free will. I would have been more desperate if this had been a world with only molluscs like slime.

... but hey.

Unexpectedly I exhale deeply.

"Wa, hey, stop, are you trying to burn me!?"

Nina then jumped out loud with her head protected with both hands.

"Yeah, I'm sorry."

I hurriedly shut my mouth.

It's been ten years since I became this body, but I still haven't gotten used to it.

The exhaling breath is all flaming, the body of a dragon.

"I will try to talk to them for now..."

"What, you are going? It's impossible to get through them and they are violent you know?"

When she regained her mind and muttered, Nina advised me as confused.

"Well we'll figure it out, maybe. Will Nina wait here for me?

I spreading my wings wide, jumping up high all at once.

To the caves of the humans, it will take, about two to three kilometers from what I see.

I am not at all confident in distance or time intervals because my body itself is changing, but physically I descend in front of the cave in less than a minute.

The little girl who happened to be out at the entrance looked up at me and screamed and went in.

"Oh, it's okay, young lady. It's okay, I'm a dragon that can look like this. Eating humans."

"Enemy!"

As if to interrupt my words, spears flew from all directions.

I see. Surely it may not be impossible for them to be said to be violent. And, looking at the spear bouncing on the scale, I think.

"I have no hostility over here. Would you please not attack me"

"Run!"

When I was particularly slow, the man who threw the spear screamed something. The women take their children and flee into the cave. Hmm, this is troublesome.

"This way, I'm not willing to fight. You know?"

As I tell them not to exhale as much as possible, I push the spear that fell to the ground with my nose tip in front of them one by one. Now I hope you understand that there is no hostility.

The men looked at each other as confused, but took the spear in their hands in such a way as to fear.

"You guys don't have words yet..."

Seeing how it went, I was so sure. There are short, decree-like words. You want me to attack him or run away? But there's still no more complex language to interact with.

In addition, the attack was just a stone spear. At least, there's no one here who can use magic like an elf.

"Sorry to surprise you."

I put that aside, thinking I wouldn't make sense, and rose high in the sky again.

"How'd it go?

"No good. No words went through them"

"That's what I told you right?"

Nina laughed at me shaking her head for some reason.

"I thought I'd seen a human around the corner..."

"That's why don't blow on the fire!"

Whoa, shit. I sighed again.

"I'm sorry. It's just a breath for me..."

"You can't accidentally burn the woods."

Nina gets pumped and angry as she puts her hand on her hips.

"It's time for the sun to go down, and let's go to sleep today."

With that said, when she extended her arms, very naturally the trees lowered their branches. It's elf magic. Nina takes off the apparent clothes she was wearing and lays herself in a bed of wooden leaves.

"It's Hashitanai so don't do it"

Sleeping she has no way of hiding her body, and her bright white skin is so dazzling to her eyes. I wonder if she looks like a little over ten. Though still immature, he's old enough to have trouble finding a place for his eyes.

"So, what is Hasitanai?"

That's what they say, and I'm cramped with answers as usual.

I don't have the notion that Elf can't be. Or in the first place, there was no word to be ashamed of. For them, clothing protects the body from the heat and cold, and nakedness is not a disgrace.

"Look, come on"

"Yes, yes…………………………."

Turning to her as she tried not to look at her limbs stretching her arms this way, I wrapped my stomach around her bed.

My body, which is a fire dragon, seems warm and pleasant. I don't care if I inadvertently exhale loudly while I sleep.

But I met a human, and I noticed one thing.

That means that Elf's life isn't much different from theirs either. It sounds good when it comes to the forest species, but especially the life where you sleep in a tree without even making a house and take the forest beasts and nuts to live. If I tell you, it's hunting and gathering. I didn't care until now because it's hard to imagine an elf that makes a field and keeps a cow, but it's not a primitive person at all.

Of course, they can magically manipulate the trees, hear their voices, and have their fruits divided. They can live quite steadily in such a life. But I feel that, in turn, is hindering the development of civilization. There is no ingenuity or progress, because as long as there is a forest, we can live. In time, I even felt that I would be destroyed by humanity, which developed civilization.

And that applies to me, too. A dragon is strong enough to be unusual. I don't have a hard time hunting prey, and I don't have any outside enemies. It is probably the apex of the ecosystem. But that life was still only supported by hunting. It's not nearly civilized.

I don't know what to do.

At that time, the idea behind my brain flashed as if it were a revelation.

"School!

"Hey, what!?

The words that were supposed to have just occurred to me in my heart were poking my mouth too much of excitement, and Nina jumped up with her eyes black-and-white.

"It's gakkow, Nina. Make a cuckoo."

Of course there is no word for school in Elf.

But I'm obsessed and I tell her what I think.

That was the beginning of a long, long story… yes, distracting and long.
