The Magus of Genesis

Episode 25: The Lost Opportunity/Miss the Chance

From what I've seen, is the civilization of this village two or three hundred years behind that of Hiiro? Farming and livestock have not yet begun, and metal vessels have only been used marginally. Architecture is all wooden and I don't see any brick houses.

There are three possibilities that come to mind when I hear that Hiiro is used in this village.

The first is that someone in the village of Hiiro happened to have come this far to build the village.

But it was denied the location of this village that separated the sea.

The second is that the same Japanese reincarnator taught me.

I've never met a reincarnator other than me before, but it's not unlikely.

But the village chief said, "The Wizard of the Beginning" taught them words and magic.

Assuming there was a reborn, would you teach magic first, like me?

That was all I had. Neglected in science and engineering, all I had was my knowledge of magic and… the imagination that kept thinking 'what if magic could actually be used'.

Normally, however, once the modern Japanese have been reincarnated and metastasized, they will try a scientific approach.

If there was a reincarnator, I'm pretty sure that's modern Japanese. The language used in this village is too similar to Japanese as I know it. It would be a much different way of talking if it had been off for hundreds of years.

And the third. That is……………

It is possible that what they call the Beginning Wizard is a reincarnated eye.

"Well, if you're the wizard of the beginning... will you not live anymore?

"That would be so. It was a long time ago."

I wonder how many years it used to refer to? Human beings say it was a long time ago, even if it was only about twenty or thirty years ago, so I have no idea what it feels like around there.

... No, I remember feeling that way when I was human too or until I was about a hundred years old, but it had been a long time since I lost that feeling itself. Whether it was six hundred years ago or more, it changes a lot.

"Is there anything…… anything left? It's what I was wearing…………………"

"Oh, I do. Would you like to see it?

I was rather surprised when I got a favorite reply to the words I said with little anticipation.

"Do you have one? I would love to see it!

"Yeah. This way, please."

Me and Lynn are led to the back of the mansion, taken by the village chief who accepted with pleasure.

"This is what the wizard of the beginning wore."

"… this is it?

"Yeah. It's also a treasure passed down from generation to generation to our home."

I thought it was made from the skin of an animal and it was a piece of clothing.

It is decorated in the center of the room so that it can be worn on wooden dolls, like mannequins.

It must be a long time ago. It doesn't look like it's in a bad state of preservation, but it's still pretty worn out and not likely to be worn very well.

However………

Is this really what the wizard himself at the beginning wore?

I was desperate to say such a rude thing.

Obviously, it belonged to a man.

So is the design, and so is the physique. It is easy to understand because I am being put on a mannequin, but my height is almost the same as mine and I am disappointed around my shoulders.

"Is it really what the Wizard of the Beginning wore?

If I thought so, Lynn would write a letter on the paper asking me what I couldn't even ask if I wanted to.

"Yes, I have always cherished it to remember and honor our great ancestors."

That said, the nuances look different from putting them in words and writing them in letters. Lin's seems to have been perceived as a mere surprise, and the village chief replied so without looking offended.

Will it ever be reincarnated into the opposite sex? At first glance, I feel that it seems as easy as changing gender compared to being a dragon.

But magic comes from will. If Eye was reincarnated, it would be nothing more than by magical force. And she should have been reincarnated to see me again. If so, it's hard to imagine being reborn into a man.

... Well, I think my aspirations are about half in there, but as a major muscle, I'm sure I'm not mistaken.

Are you a reborn person other than me? Even if you look at making clothes, you don't really know the area. That garment, which was simple to make, only appeared to be very ordinary fur garments, such as those often worn in the village of Hiiro a few hundred years ago.

"Other than this... is there anything else? For example, do you think it's something that says something?"

"Unfortunately, there's no such thing left."

I thought if it was a wooden or clay plate, I would know a lot more, but it doesn't seem to work that way. If it was at least an interaction with the elves, you would have heard about it at the time...

"Speaking of which, El...... no, not interacting with monsters is also what the wizard of the beginning told you?

When I asked him that, the village chief clearly glanced at him.

"I don't know. But it's natural that you don't want to interact with those creepy things."

Like throwing up, he says. There, too, was one of the discomforts.

If Eye had been reincarnated, at least he wouldn't be prejudiced by the elves.

Of course there's a chance that the prejudice she said that about since she died has grown...... no matter how much you think about it.

"Thank you. I heard a very interesting story."

I thanked the village chief and quit the village.

In the end, I didn't know who the wizard was at the beginning, but there was only one thing that was clear.

That's - assuming it's a reincarnated eye, or someone who's been transferred from Japan.

A long time ago, he was dead.

"Seisei, are you okay…………?

"Yeah. I'm fine."

On the way out of the village to a place where you wouldn't be blamed for flying away looking like a dragon. I made a conscious laugh at Lynn as she looked up worried.

But to be honest, I can't say I'm calm on the inside.

Maybe... Maybe Eye was reincarnated into that village and ended that life again.

I didn't seem to make it. There is no way that the story of the village of Hiiro can be conveyed to such a village beyond the sea. Even if I was reincarnated, there was nothing I could do. No, just now, she was reincarnated in an equally distant village, and I can't notice that.

Thinking about it, I felt like my chest was jammed.

"Seisei......"

Lynn pulls my arm and stares at me with her eyes that say something. I don't know if I'm going to tell you, but I think you're worried. Open your mouth, but no voice comes out of her throat.

"Can you hear me?"

It was then that the voice I was used to hearing echoed in my brain.

"Nina? Why?"

From here to the village of Hiiro, the magic of transmission by scales should not pass.

Though I thought it was the same that the positional relationship was reversed.

'I don't know why I made it through, but I'm glad I tried not to. Come back soon.'

Nina had a hard voice and told her.

"… the state of the water has changed dramatically"
