The Magus of Genesis

Lesson 4 Selection Exam/Selection Test

"This is... isn't almost everyone there?

Seeing the faces gathered in the courtyard, I leaked unexpectedly.

I will start a new study on the Spirit, so I want those who will cooperate to assemble. When I got in touch with him, there were quite a few students in front of me.

Twenty-two wizards are now enrolled in my university to carry out research. Each of them is studying their own subject, and some of them are taking further disciples to study the subject in groups, so maybe they are closer to the professor than to the student exactly.

So I thought there were at most a few of us recruiting collaborators, but if you count nineteen...... no, there are twenty yuccas that are nicoting next to me if you add up. It was a complete miscalculation.

Next to the other end, Lynn, who has been following her around for a long time, looks around intriguingly, but she's not in the numbers because she's not in college anymore.

"Look, that's why I told you, brother. They said they wouldn't miss an opportunity to study it directly with your brother."

Proud for some reason, Yuka.

"I care about the rest that didn't come the other way"

As always, Lynn's perspective is unique.

"What hasn't come is, uh... to the 'lazy' Innis, half sheep (Provato Centaurus) Mel I guess"

"Oh, I see………………………."

To my whining, Yuka nodded as if convinced. It's rude, but I don't know how that feels either. Those are the two of them. It is unfortunate because we are both excellent as wizards.

"Er... thank you for coming together, gentlemen"

When I coughed, I looked around and cut it out.

"As I contacted you beforehand, there are now gradually more accidents in this village where spirits run wild. In contrast, we fundamentally do not have the means to counter the Spirit. Therefore, we need to study anti-spiritual magic as soon as possible."

So I cut off the conversation and asked for a reaction. Several people nodded back, and those who didn't seemed eager to listen to me as well. Ugh. It's distressing...

"But the research of each of you is also essential to the development and progress of the village of Hiiro. I greatly appreciate that you have come together in this way, but I consider it a great loss for everyone to engage in this study. … so I would like to ask a few of you to help me out"

When I said that, we both went out of our way. It's true what I just said, but there are circumstances where I simply can't take care of too many. It has become increasingly apparent lately that even three or four or so people are the limit of my ability to teach.

"How will those few be chosen!?

It was Ala, a young man of half a wolf (Lucos Centaur), who took a step up his voice. He hits Luca's nephew, but doesn't resemble much except his silver fur and golden eyes. The tight body is thin but tall, and about one hundred and ninety centimeters tall.

The lower body of the grand wolf that deserves to support its upper back, and the sharp eyes that shoot through, are such that if you're a carefree little thing, you're going to tremble. Honestly, I've been a little scared for a few years or so since I met you, too. Well, actually, I'm not exactly a violent young man.

"Judges are here."

When Yuka says so and casts a spell sooner than I answer, the wind swirls and gathers. Gradually it stained white, and the snow and ice gathered together more than one, eventually taking the form of a small snowman.

"The Original Spirit......... JackFrost......!

Seeing that look, the twist runs. JackFrost is a legendary spirit that we all know if you live in the village of Hiiro. At any rate, it was born long before something called spiritual magic was established in this world, and it has protected the village's ice chamber for nearly a thousand years now.

These days, demonic motives have become completely popular and food can be stored refrigerated in each household, so the ice chamber will no longer be used. But Jack Frost has always lived there, making him a good playmate for the children of the village.

"I see."

Ala squeezes her stern face tighter and nodded.

"Something that can defeat Jack Frost can be taught directly by the teacher... that's what you're saying"

Oh, really?

"Exactly."

Yuka nodded confidently. Apparently so.

... No, even if I can't defeat anything, that's fine if I can find a means that seems to be somewhat effective...

To be clear, as things stand, we have not found an effective way to deal with the Spirit other than whether to eat it or name it or to polarize the sword. And it is Yuka's view that all three of them "can't be done by a regular person".

Honestly, I have no idea what to do, so I was going to feel like I should see some direction for now, but it was harder to say that now when I saw Ala's expression of motivation.

"Well, uh, first in fifty tones order. Ala, you want to try?

"Ha. We will make sure that we meet your expectations!

Ala grips her fist for a long time and nods, leaning forward like a dog before she jumps and relative to JackFrost.

"Then get ready…… get started!

Yuka shook her arms down as her surroundings lowered to the wall to open up space for battle.

"Shoot him that is in my hand, O red, and hot, and the fierce flame that burns everything!

It was Ala who set me up first.

A flame stretches straight out of the palm of his hand, which is set up to make vessels with both hands.

Jack Frost opens his mouth roughly after seeing it with his untouched pitch-black eyes. A fierce snowstorm blew out of it, instantly enveloping Ala. The flames he put out were also quite hot but meaningless and frozen in all of them. It was an instant kill.

"Yeah. Flames on jackfrost are actually bad, aren't they? Yes, next."

Yuka lifts the frozen Ala up a bit and puts it next to me. Lynn created a ton of water for me to float in the air, so I heated it up and turned it into hot water and thawed Ala.

"I... lost..."

Ala groans with remorse and gently drips away.

"Well, I'll be right around the corner."

I pounded his shoulder and Lynn comforted me so.

"… the second week?

Ala raises her gaze as she inquires in surprise. Beyond that, there was a sight that could almost be called a massacre.

"…… Unforgiving."

"But it seems like he's doing a lot of tricks."

Blurring as he mass-produces more and more hot water to me, Yuka tells me as he carries the bodies of the students frozen from next to next. I see that her words that humans can't beat spirits finally made sense to me, too.

Humans need to cast spells when using magic. Of course, magic can be used without spells, but power is out of step.

And the Spirit can create phenomena far more powerful than human magic with spells, without chanting or motion. Just like my flaming exhale when I look like a dragon. Before the attack worked, it was too powerful and too fast.

The rows that waited in order as they watched disappeared, and instead the students lined up as ice statues.

"Hey, what are you doing, guys?"

"Wow, Ala, you're freaking me out!

Just around the corner, when I turned to the familiar voice, there was a pair that stood out.

Sleeping sluggishly on a fluffy, airborne, one-of-a-kind couch is Innis who leaves the two names "Lazy Witch" wanting. That figure, which is small as a child but leaves her hair stretched longer than her own height, is like some kind of plant.

Next door, Mel is a girl with long white fluffy hair, half sheep with sheep on her lower body, half sheep with a human figure on her upper body (Provato Centaurus), and a trade mark with breasts big enough to turn her gaze unintentionally regardless of her gender.

We didn't get together this time, it's the two remaining students. Like the other students, they both live in the school building with their own rooms, so they either happened to want to go through or they heard the noise and came to see it.

"If you can defeat me, you'll get the honor of doing research with your teacher. Don't stop me, Mel!

"Uh, but if it stays that way, you're gonna catch a cold?

Shaking off Mel's stop, Ala goes to a second fight.

"Uh, uh... Something was sticking. What about the Spirit... it was today."

Turn around on the sofa and watch Innis battle Ara as she tells her not to be interested.

"Huh? Hey, that? Is that what happened?

Mel tilts her neck in a prolonged tone. This one didn't even notice the sticker on the notice in the first place, apparently.

"Innis, Mel. Why don't you two try? I wonder how you guys are going to handle this."

"Shit. It's annoying."

When I shook the story, Innis hit the turnaround again as he leaked his yawn and responded instantly. She is always like this.

"If you can help me with my research, let's waive quarterly reporting"

"…… Really?

No, when I said that at the source, Innis raised her face in a stuck position. Students are asked to present the results of the research in a report four times a year. Let me do it. Oh, my God, this is a very troublesome task. Innis especially doesn't seem to like the work and always submits it to deadlines critical with Dantoz.

But if I'm in a situation where I check my research directly, I don't mind if I don't have a report like that.

"If you can defeat me."

Yuka pointed to Jack Frost and said so.

"That's easy."

Innis glanced at the snow and ice spirits and said so lightly.
