The Marquess’s Amnesia

Episode Eight: The Past That Was Silent

My gaze was removed all the time and my empty eyes were pointed at my husband.

"But now that Will, who hates women, is sleeping on his wife's lap like this, Lily is amazing."

Soon I've been from Marquise to Lily, but I don't feel bad about it. I think it's Alphonse's moral business. You seem to be very good at getting into people's nostalgia.

I turned to my husband to follow Alphonse's gaze without being able to ask him what he had just said.

"I don't even know who I am because I lost my memory, and I think I was careful. Your husband's family is nowhere near... and I think he was interested in me with the title of wife, even if it's all in shape. When I get my memories back I'm sure... again"

My husband on my lap has a restful sleeping face, but he won't show me this sleeping face when I get my memory back.

"... Lily thinks she'll be back like before again when Will's memory returns?

Unwilling, I just nodded silently without being able to see Master Alphonse's face.

My husband said to me, "Trust me," that night. But I can't believe that word.

On my first night bed, my husband told me I was not willing to have children. Nothing is more important to the nobility than connecting blood. It's very important to keep the blood connected to protect the house, protect the territory, protect the people.

My husband hated me enough to refuse it.

So I really can't believe it. My husband is never, ever irresponsible. Elsa, Frederick, Arthur, my husband, is a proud knight who thinks of this country more than anyone else, a marquis who cares more about his people than anything else.

Over the past two weeks, I have also realized on my skin that the word is true. Even if the memory has been lost, it has not damaged one thing in itself: pride as a nobleman or pride as a knight that has been engulfed in his heart.

The more that husband renounced his duty as a nobleman, the more I was hated, so I didn't know what to believe or how to believe.

"... I'm scared"

Gently tangle amber hair at your fingertips. I felt like the cicada's voice had gotten louder just now, and I felt like I'd found my weakness hidden to fix it.

"Believe my current husband... I'm so used to being nice... I'm scared. When I get my memory back, I'm sure you'll hate me again..."

Even knowing that he hated me because I was the husband I'd only seen twice, the wound was shallow.

But I just wish my current husband hated me. My chest hurts like a strain.

"Well I'm pretty sure Will is bad...... back to the story, do you know why Will hated women so much?

The first half didn't sound good, but the second half inquiry was heard clearly. I cringed and my heart sounded anxious.

Still, I looked up and slowly went down my neck to the side. Master Alphonse had a lonely look on his face somewhere.

"My husband is a very popular person, so I heard that a woman started snatching at each other and disliked it and hated her..."

"Oh well..."

After a pompous and grunting reply, Master Alphonse put his hand on his chin and looked up, narrowing his eyes to the sun beyond the leaking day of wood. In short, the wind blows and Alphonse-like honey-colored hair shakes.

"Well, I've forgotten who I am, and it's hard to say from all my servants. All right, this is for a friend, I'll tell you."

Lady Alphonse opened her mouth with some sort of tidiness in her when she turned her face to me again. I tilt my neck and wait ahead without knowing what the words mean.

"Do you know Will raised his medal in the war against his neighbor seven years ago?

"Yes, Elsa... the samurai taught me"

"So, did Will ever have a fiancée then?

It was an unexpected word.

You guessed with my expression, Master Alphonse moistened his throat with a cup of tea that completely cooled down when he zeroed one bitter smile.

"Will was excellent in school, but after graduation, he became a very good knight in the Knights who joined the regiment. If it's just swordsmanship, it's strong enough to get into five fingers in this country. Plus, it's manipulative, it's humane, and the Marquis of Springfield is a grand aristocrat with ties to the royal family. Some idiot jealous of that. You must have thought you should have died in the war, pushing the title Captain to the front line to the too young knight of nineteen.... but well, as you can see from the results of being on Lily's lap, Will used brilliant tactics and tactics to snap the enemy general's neck to break the other formation and drive the enemy army to destruction, creating a cut that would lead our country to victory"

Master Alphonse put his proud light in his eyes and turned his gaze to his husband.

"So now he contributes to our country as division head of Division I, which protects the Wang Capital. I'm Prince Wang, but that's why I'm going to leave the Knights eventually. I'm a deputy division leader. So by the time I sit on the throne, Will will be in charge."

"Your husband is an amazing man."

Once again, I realized that my husband was a really great person.

Master Alphonse nodded with a laugh as he creaked.

"Sort of. So, let's get back to it, Will had a fiancée that your father decided to have when he was seventeen. It's a common political marriage, but I'm connected to a certain Marquis maid. She was one younger than us. [M] Lily and I had the opposite vibe. If you compare Lily to the moonlight that descends on a quiet night, she was like this overly dazzling midsummer sunshine"

Looking up, there was a dazzling sun beyond the multiple overlapping branches. The dazzling sunshine that illuminates everything dazzles me, and I take my gaze off and lay my eyes down.

"... Will's parents are a very friendly couple, and Will, who grew up looking at them, took care of his fiancée's maid again. I was never a bad girl. He was a happy, clear talker. Will and she were doing pretty well. But... Will withheld the wedding three months later, but he was ordered to go to war. The wedding was postponed, but Will promised her fiancée that she would come back alive, and we went to war. Your daughter even sent me out to make a amulet for Will to come back alive, but hey..."

Raising her eyes, which lay on the words that had interrupted and disappeared, there was Master Alphonse smiling sadly with his mockery at the edge of his mouth.

"... a little over a year later, when I got back, the young lady was pregnant."

For a moment, the sound disappeared from the world. All the cicadas, voices and wind sounds seemed to have been blown away by the shock of that word.

"... so your husband has a son?

shruggedly I asked.

Master Alphonse slowly shakes his neck to the side.

"If that's the case, I'm still glad.... Will could not return once for more than a year along the border with a neighbor far from this king's capital. Yet when she came back, she was six months pregnant. If it was Will's child, it'd be weird if it wasn't born, wouldn't it? It's a stunning thing to do in my life with three fingers."

Master Alphonse glanced up behind his body with his hands behind his shoulders, not just telling him to do it, and he sighed one long time zero.

"Will took care of the amulet from his fiancée and fought with the thought of dying in the battlefield. There have been many faint spots. Still Will fought. He took the sword, didn't give up living on the battlefield where the corpse rolled with the mountain, didn't harass the fool, and went home so fine that he had no more as a knight. How many times have I been told I want to see you on the road sooner... but I'm surprised you're home. Your daughter's tummy was obviously plump for reasons other than obesity."

It mixes in with the voice of the cicada, whose dry laughter was about to be heard at some point.

"And come on, he was caged in a boy who might not even know the qualities we met at the masquerade. What do you think was the excuse we made for Will to solidify into so much shock? Because I missed you. He won't come back as soon as he's been to the battlefield, and he won't buy me dresses or jewels. He didn't even come to see me and said he missed me... I thought from the bottom of my heart that I wasn't stupid. We weren't going to see each other. For the first time in my life, I turned a scornful glance at a woman."

The tone of saying so was as if to tell a story of nothing, but the indelible thoughts of Master Alphonse directed at me could not be hidden from me. Whether regret, sorrow or anger are still in him, empty eyes dwell and narrow complex colors.

"... of course, there was no engagement. The young lady was forgiven... but the baby was not guilty, so she married a certain merchant. Will's father, the former Marquis, also felt the burden because he was the lady he had found and gave up the housekeeper to hide. But Will has become a woman of distrust... well, there's no need. It was hard for me, too. I can only imagine how Will felt about the party, but I think it was really sad, hard and painful"

Master Alphonse lowered his eyes and smiled bitterly. I'm taking the cup again and carrying it to my mouth and moisturizing my throat.

"Even worse in between, Will crowded with women who accomplished enough to be called the country's hero. I wish there was a child in there who would see him as one man named William...... meh, I whispered love all the time to William's title. Not to mention making an ugly fight on your own over Will. So I ended up hating women."

Kacha, and the slight sound of the cup being returned to the saucer slowly lingered in my ear.

"... but, Lily"

A pleading glance captures me.

"Right now, Will, who cares about you, is who he really is. Will knows love properly and he's a kind man who can love people. I mean, I just said... I really don't think I should go back to my memories. What I've lost is certainly an important thing that has built up William Lutherford so far... but this guy I'm forgetting is sleeping with such a calm face"

I turned to my husband on my lap. My husband is asleep peacefully.

There was no fine dust in the shadow of my scary face husband looking down at me in my memory, and the serene sleeping face was peace itself.

"The words and thoughts that can be directed at you from Will right now are real. I want you to believe me because it's a little better... I don't think it's that easy to forgive a grown man who should have ten older distinctions for leaving you alone for a year, and I know it's unbelievable... because I want my dear best friend to be happy This is a little bit of a treat"

Master Alphonse has a very gentle smile on his face. As much as I can see that I sincerely hope so, Mr. Alphonse's words contained a sense of concern and contemplation for his dear best friend.

I wasn't sure enough to answer that, yes.

"Mmm..."

My husband wandered on my lap when I lowered my face to escape. My husband's bright blue eyes appeared when I wondered if my eyelids trembled tingly.

"... Liliana? Hey, what's up?

What did I look like in your husband's eyes? To my husband, who narrowed his eyes worryingly, I grin in haste.

"Yes, sir... there is His Royal Highness Prince Alphonse..."

My husband awakened at once to my words, and rose up momentously. And when I found Master Alphonse, I glorified.

"Al, you promised me three o'clock, right?

"'Cause, you know, when I came here yesterday, I didn't even see Lily."

Master Alphonse ran out of bad looks. Apparently, Master Alphonse was at the Mansion all day yesterday just because I didn't know. We spend the afternoon in our rooms and didn't know because I would never welcome our guests.

"I was so surprised to see Will fall unconsciously. You didn't see your face well at the wedding."

I'm telling you, Liliana is my wife.

"It's on paperwork, isn't it?

For a moment in Master Alphonse's floating return, his husband wrinkled between his eyebrows. When I roared in regret, I waved all the time telling him to go that way.

"Enough. Go to the study first... or you wouldn't have said anything extra while I was sleeping, would you?

My husband always has a different vibe when he's in front of Master Alphonse. I've known each other since I was three years old. I'm an unmindful and important friend, so maybe that won't change if I lose my memory.

"I was just having a good chat, hey, Lily"

"Yes, sir"

"Don't call people's wives Lily cheerful!

"Oh no. You don't like narrow-minded men, do you? I'm heartbroken by my amnesiac husband, Lily, and I know you've forgotten, but all you did was sneak up on your men with stories about being pissed off by the deputy captain, standing in the hallway, and peppers you hated, and tell your old lady in the dining room a story that pissed you off and relaxed your heart, okay?

I've never heard those two stories before now. Your husband's aversion to vegetables seems muscular.

"You don't have to talk about that!? Something else would have happened!?

No heart or her husband's cheeks are red. Master Alphonse sounds kind of like a lot of fun. I am your husband's wife, so I will never speak up if I don't take your side.

"Yes, it's okay, sir. Cedric didn't like peppers either."

My husband shut up for some reason, and I fell down and came back to my lap. And my husband, who's tickled and stopped moving, makes me horny.

"Haha! Cedric is nine years old, haha!

Master Alphonse held his stomach and laughed away.

"Um, I didn't have Cedric with my husband. Hey, Pi, it's okay if you don't like peppers. I won't tell anyone!

I realize my rudeness and excuse myself in a hurry, but my husband turned his arm around my hips and became increasingly immobile. I remember this happening before. My husband, who was new to my room, buried his face in my lap just like now and stopped moving. At that time, I could also remember how fortunately Elsa told me that if I stroked her head, I would be able to do something about it.

I gently stroke my amber hair just like I did then. I asked for help from Master Alphonse as he stroked his hair as it slipped through between his fingers, but Master Alphonse stuck on the spot holding his stomach and still kept his shoulders trembling.

Then for a while, as it was, by the time Alphonse's shoulder tremor stopped, my husband raised his face as well.

"Liliana, I'm sorry, but I'm gonna come clean up a little work with this idiot. I'll be visiting your room again at dinner."

"Oh, that's what I'm gonna say? I'll give you a hand around the corner."

I said, glittering the round, ribbon hanging lettering that Master Alphonse took out of nowhere. My husband is staring at Master Alphonse with a lot of silence. Master Alphonse also seemed to take the stare of his husband very pleasantly, who would be scared and stunned if I were you.

Or is it okay to call His Royal Highness the King of a Nation this fool, even if it is a close pattern?

"Well, I forgive you, my dear Lily, for forgiving you."

"Don't call me Lily!

"Yes, yes, I'll see you later, Lily. Now I'm coming back for a souvenir cake made by my pastry chef."

With that said, Master Alphonse went to the Mansion to escape his husband when he stood up.

I said yes in a hurry. Master Alphonse smiles kindly at me like that and when he waves, he leaves with Mr. Arthur, who appears out of nowhere.

"Liliana, what else did he say to you? Haven't they said anything weird? Are you okay?"

My husband, who was staring at Master Alphonse's back, looked back at me.

"I asked you to tell me about your husband's usual condition. My husband told me he was such a brilliant and wonderful knight."

It was going to harden on my lap again when I told the truth, and I didn't have the courage to speak of it when it came to my fiancée.

"Is that true?

"Yes. You're kind enough to forgive my rudeness, too."

"... I don't have any refreshing memories either, but I can trust him for some reason. At the same time, for some reason, I'm angry."

Perhaps you always played with your husband because of how Alphonse was doing, but I don't think he noticed it either, so I didn't say it.

"Are you going back to your room, too?

"No, I'm only here a little longer because the wind feels good"

"Right. But keep it just a little bit. The shade is cool, but it's tough when you have heat stroke."

"Yes, thank you for your concern"

I honestly thanked you. My husband is a kind person who also cares about my physical condition.

"See you at dinner,"

My husband went back to the mansion with Mr. Frederick, who came sometime after he got up and stretched out. Along the way, he looked back at me several times, so I waved back at him each time. Then my husband waved down, too, and returned to the mansion satisfactorily.

"Ma'am, are you okay?

Elsa comes to me like she's going to be replaced and she looks worried.

"A little, my legs are just numb. Just bear with me and you'll be cured soon."

Actually, I had my husband's head on top of me sitting all the time, so my legs were paralyzed. My husband didn't seem to notice, but Elsa found out. Only a tingling and tickling paralysis remained as the largest wave of paralysis passed. Wait for it to gradually disappear.

"Elsa."

"Yes."

Elsa, who was cleaning up, stops her hand and raises her face.

"Um... that,"

I'd like to ask you about your husband's fiancée, but I can't put that into words with no intention whatsoever.

"Uh... have you received a letter from Cedric?

I leaned my neck in penance to God for making my dear brother an escape route. Elsa shakes her neck sideways looking sorry.

"I'm asking everyone to let me know the best when the letter arrives, but so far it's not... it's too late this month"

I nodded, yes, to a carefree look.

I'm also concerned about your husband's fiancée, but it's also true that I'm worried about Cedric. It usually reaches the head of week two, but now it's the end of week three.

"... I'm going to Bazaar with my husband tomorrow, and the Allwin family isn't that far from home. Would you like to take a look at it on your way home, though? My husband will say it's good, or I'll say it."

To Elsa's comforting words, I managed to lift up my sinking feelings, and, yes, I returned them.

"Let's even ask for it at dinner.... Ma'am, how about a leg? It's still hot in the afternoon. It's time to get back to your room. I'll ask someone else to clean up after me."

"It's okay now. Here."

I got up all the time with my paralyzed legs. Elsa, good, loosened her expression and took out her sun umbrella and plugged it into me. I thanked it and went back to the mansion with Elsa.
