Chapter 1178 - 523: Why Is the Suspect So Evil?

Sponsored

Starting from oneself, the dark chaos ignited in the chicken farm under the butterfly effect might count as a major event anchored in the infinite parallel worlds of Marvel’s universe.

Just like every Spiderman loses his origin, maybe every Xiling Town will lose its once prosperous chicken farming era.

Otherwise, how can we explain... Why does it feel like there are ’victims’ everywhere!!!

How many people’s hearts did I end up hurting back then?

How many more people in Xiling can be as innocent and upright as myself?

Sigh.

Can’t see Xiling’s future anymore...

The driver seemed to find it difficult to bring up as well, so he didn’t say much. After a few chuckles, he continued his pursuit business.

The distance between the two cars kept shortening.

Although the van has been ’trailed’ all the way, since there are not many side roads here, following along is considered normal. So far, it seems the van in front hasn’t become suspicious.

"Dude, what should we do now? Should we just force him to stop? If the car gets damaged, will it be reimbursed?"

Upon shortening the distance sufficiently, the driver proactively inquired.

"No need to force a stop, that’s too dangerous," Lin Li shook his head, having already considered this in his heart, and gave a direct instruction:

"Driver, just honk the horn a few times shortly, then I’ll yell for him to stop. We’ll pretend to be concerned bystanders and tell him his car seems to have a problem, like leaking oil. That way, it’s safe and efficient."

"Alright, that’s a safe plan."

The driver nodded in agreement, then accelerated, gently tapping the horn a few times.

"Beep— beep—"

The crisp horn sound was especially clear in the quiet night sky.

Repeating several times, the driver of the van ahead obviously heard it, and the speed seemed to slow down a bit.

The van’s rearview mirror then revealed the other party’s face.

Seemingly thinking that the ride-share car intended to overtake, it veered significantly to one side to make space.

Lin Li leaned out of the car window and shouted forward: "Oi! Bro! Please stop your car! It seems like your car is leaking oil, leaving drips all the way behind. Better check it out before any incident happens."

As soon as this shout went out, it had an immediate effect.

The van in front hesitated for a moment, then slowly pulled over to the roadside, turning on the hazard lights.

Meanwhile, the concerned Lin Li and the driver also stopped a few meters behind the van.

"Driver, just stay in the car and record with your phone; just in case something happens, it’s good to have evidence."

After instructing the driver quietly, Lin Li exited the car, walking unhurriedly towards the van.

The driver’s side door of the van was also pushed open, and a middle-aged man wearing a padded jacket, with a somewhat shifty gaze, jumped down. He initially looked warily at Lin Li approaching, then instinctively bent down to check under the car.

"Where’s the oil leak? There’s nothing..."

He muttered, clearly failing to find any anomalies.

Just as he bent down, Lin Li, close to the vehicle, clearly saw the rear seats of the van were folded down, with several bulging sacks placed on top. The sacks were even slightly wriggling, and a few weak, muffled whimpering sounds, seemingly having their mouths covered, could be heard.

More conspicuous was the corner with an iron cage, where a few fluffy small dogs could be vaguely seen curled up together, seemingly all in a lethargic state.

Now, this amounts to catching them red-handed.

The skinny man inspected around without spotting any signs of oil leakage, and realizing something was off, he straightened up, and with suspicion and irritation in his eyes, frowned and questioned the approaching Lin Li:

"Kid, are you playing tricks on me? There’s no oil leak at all; what do you want? Or did you see wrongly? Can you give me an explanation?"

Lin Li stopped, displaying a faint, ambiguous smile: "I don’t want anything, buddy; just want to ask about the dogs and what’s packed in the sacks on your car— where did you get them?"

The skinny man’s face changed drastically, eyes instantly flustered, yet he retorted defiantly: "None...none of your damned business! They’re my dogs; I can put them wherever I want! Mind your own business!"

He said, subtly leaning back, attempting to step back into the driver’s seat.

Clearly, intending to drive away.

Lin Li had anticipated this, and as soon as the man’s figure moved, he quickly stepped forward, his right hand accurately holding the other’s wrist attempting to pull the car door.

"Ouch!" The skinny man felt a sharp pain in his wrist, seemingly clamped by steel, unbreakable, surprising and angering him— "Let go! Do you want to die!"

His other hand clenched a fist, swinging towards Lin Li’s face.

Such typical Android-thinking fighting techniques appeared utterly flawed in Apple-minded Lin Li’s eyes.

Lin Li didn’t even bother to let go of the hand clutching the other’s wrist, simply tilting his head slightly, easily avoiding the punch, while gently tripping him from below.

"Thud!"

The skinny man merely felt an irresistibly force from below, losing his balance instantly, falling heavily to the ground with his arms pinned behind him, held down by Lin Li.

"Stealing dogs for other people’s beloved...pets, and you’re still bold about it, bro,"

Lin Li’s knee pressed into his lower back, sufficiently incapacitating him, yet not causing excessive discomfort, as he spoke in a relatively gentle tone:

"Mate, give it up, don’t resist anymore— it’ll be good for both of us; I’m calling the cops."

"Calling the cops? Damn you..." The skinny man still wanted to struggle and curse, but upon hearing "calling the cops" and feeling the massive force from behind, his bravado deflated considerably, leaving only unrelenting gasps and low grunts.
