The Natives of This World Are Fierce

Aside from *Return of the Human Race*, which didn’t get a contract, this is my second book.

In my first book, *Biological Alchemy Notes*, I didn’t get to include many of the things I truly wanted to write, and much of what I did write wasn’t done well.

I mentioned some of the issues in the afterword for my last book.

Back then, I was a total rookie author. I felt the excitement of getting a contract, the joy of seeing the book’s popularity rise, and also the mental distress from getting flamed.

Even though the ending was poor, at least I managed to finish it.

Anyway, back to the matter at hand!

This time, *The Natives of This World Are Fierce* (originally titled *Otherworldly Shock*) is finally going premium. It will happen after 12:00 PM on Friday, the 6th.

For a new work, my biggest hope is obviously its success. After that, I want to see if I’ve improved and if I can fully express the story I have in my heart.

To grow a little at a time, to hone my writing bit by bit, and to one day be able to present the stories I currently lack the confidence to write!

This is my humble dream as an author!

I’m thrilled to have so many readers joining me as I slowly work toward this little dream. Some of you were here from the beginning, while others joined along the way. All of you are my staunchest supporters!

I believe I still have a long road ahead of me when it comes to writing novels, but I also believe I can carve out a space for myself on this crowded path.

And the most direct way to measure all of this is through subscriptions.

Next, let’s talk about a major point of criticism that many of you have brought up. That’s right! The title!

Seriously, back when it was called *Otherworldly Shock*, tons of people said the title was bad. And the book’s performance at the time was abysmal. How bad? It was dead last during the new book trial promotion and almost dead last in the second round of promotions.

I was wondering at the time, ’Where did my editor, Vini, get the courage to give me good recommendation slots...’

But she did anyway, and the recommendation spots were always good ones. I’m very grateful. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Vini and my editor-in-chief!

Back then, I discussed with my editor whether the title was really just too bad. So, we changed it to a more humorous one, since it seems like titles of this type are super popular on the platform right now.

And then! *Sigh*, all I got were complaints about how bad the new name was!

What was I supposed to do? I’m in despair!

If I go back to Vini to change the name again, I’m pretty sure she’d kill me...

But if a good opportunity comes up, I’ll see if I can change it back to the original title. If that’s not possible, I guess we’ll all just have to put up with the current one~~

What’s most important is the story itself, right~!

The prototype for the character Qin Xiaoxia isn’t actually me. As the author, my real life is closer to Huang Jiutian’s—I’m usually pretty busy with my day job.

As a hobbyist writer, I’d love to be able to tell my boss I quit and become a full-time author. But that brings us back to the old problem: how could I dare to go full-time if the book’s performance is poor?
