The Natives of This World Are Fierce

Chapter 113 - 110: Let Them Forget

(Damn, I screwed up the Chapter title and can’t change it. This Chapter should be called "Let Them Forget".)

After awakening her Magic Power, Su Su could not only perform stronger Magic Divination but also transmit some of the divinatory and precognitive visions from her memories to others.

Sun Tian himself was, at best, a businessman with a conscience, but one who only adhered to a basic moral code. And though he prided himself on possessing the fine character of a Martial Monk, Su Su, in her divinations, had seen plenty of true philanthropists who were far better than him.

There was no shortage of tycoons who were genuinely focused on charity and truly wanted to help others. Of course, regardless of their present character, Su Su’s divinations revealed that almost all of them had some dark deeds in their past.

So why, for the plan a week from now, did Qin Xiaoxia choose Sun Tian?

The most crucial reason was a Scroll.

That’s right, a Scroll just like the family heirloom belonging to that delusional spellcaster, Philier.

Only, this one was a contract.

Divination couldn’t reveal a person’s entire past, but the more profound an event, the more likely it was to surface—even if it had been buried in the deepest corners of memory, temporarily forgotten by its owner.

When he was a child, Sun Tian had stolen a Scroll from his fierce great-grandmother. He couldn’t read much back then, but he had instinctively pulled the ancient, silver-cased scroll from his great-grandmother’s box of jewelry and antiques.

Because it might have been water-damaged at some point, and due to its great age, the writing was long since blurry and indistinct, but the Dawn Seal on the Scroll still left a deep impression.

But what really seared the image into his memory was when his great-grandmother found out and enforced the family rules, beating little Sun Tian until his skin was raw.

This was perhaps the only time in Sun Tian’s memory that he had been a victim of domestic abuse.

Upon seeing the Scroll in the divination, Su Su focused almost all her Magic Power on matters related to Sun Tian, but nothing else about "Dawn" appeared.

She excitedly told Qin Xiaoxia this and, as expected, received her Mentor’s praise.

As for what Qin Xiaoxia was thinking...

’Hmm, maybe a few decades or a century ago, some unlucky fool was tricked out of a lot of benefits and, in exchange, happily received a contract that promised either double the profit or an item of extraordinary value...’

As for whether that unlucky fool was an ancestor of the Sun Family, or if the Sun Family had simply acquired the Scroll for its antique value, that was none of Qin Xiaoxia’s business.

Although the divination hadn’t revealed anything else about Mrs. Sun, since her great-grandson Sun Tian was already over forty, he really didn’t believe that fierce old lady was still alive.

...

Thanks to its high-end specs, the computer rebooted in about ten seconds.

However, after the reboot, the computer returned to normal, and nothing seemed to be wrong.

He ran a scan with his antivirus software for a while, but all he got was a report that he had recently experienced a blue screen. Clicking "resolve" just brought up a pop-up saying the cause couldn’t be found.

"What is this crap!"

Sun Tian didn’t dwell on the computer issue. He simply shut it down and focused on some documents.

It was a draft contract. He used red and blue pens to mark up the key points for his assistant to amend tomorrow.

His current wealth was due to his meticulous work ethic, and, of course, his affluent family background.

Before he knew it, it was already 9 PM.

"President Sun, are you still here? We’re about to leave. Are you coming with us?"

The voice of an employee working overtime came from the office door.

Sun Tian stretched.

"No, it’s fine. I’ll be leaving in a bit. You all go ahead. Thanks for your hard work."

"Alright, we’ll be leaving then, President Sun."

"Okay."

The sound of footsteps gradually faded, and the floor grew even quieter.

A little while later, Sun Tian’s stomach started to rumble.

Only then did he remember he hadn’t eaten dinner and had forgotten to order takeout.

"Oh well, I’ll call it a day. I’ll go out and find a place to fill my stomach."

Shrouded by Secret Realm Power, Qin Xiaoxia and Su Su stood not far from the building where Sun Tian was.

Su Su, clad in a black cloak, seemed a little excited. Her current appearance, she realized, was quite close to the mysterious figures she had always imagined.

The message from the twin brothers had already been received. It was a simple sentence: "The stage is set."

Additionally, they had also tapped into the Sun Group Company’s security cameras from the back end.

"He’s coming out."

Qin Xiaoxia said to Su Su.

Su Su asked him, somewhat puzzled.

"Just him? No bodyguards or anything?"

Qin Xiaoxia gave a wry smile and didn’t answer her. ’So many people have been brainwashed by movies,’ he thought, ’believing a rich man needs a whole platoon just to grab a late-night snack.’

Sun Tian left his company. The area was full of small restaurants just a few minutes’ walk away; he ate most of his work lunches there.

He planned to eat first before going back to the company building’s garage to get his car. The housekeeper would be off work by now, so there would definitely be no food at home.

But not long after leaving the company, he noticed two strange people.

Dressed in long black robes that resembled soft cloaks, their faces hidden beneath hoods, they were just standing at the street corner, facing his direction.

Pedestrians occasionally passed by, but it was as if no one saw them. They’d walk straight ahead, yet strangely, they would still swerve to avoid a collision.

To be honest, if Sun Tian himself were walking past two such people, even if he didn’t stare out of politeness, he would definitely have glanced back at them shortly after passing.

’But the pedestrians right now are so strange... No, that’s not right. The two of them are the strange ones.’

Perhaps feeling he was being paranoid, Sun Tian quickened his pace and soon entered a giblet noodle shop he frequented.

"Boss, one bowl of giblet noodles, two small side dishes like usual, and a bottle of yogurt drink."

"Alright, just a moment."

The owner had no idea how rich the man before him was. He only knew a regular customer had arrived, and he skillfully began to prepare the noodles.

There weren’t many customers at this hour. The two other tables in the shop were already eating, so Sun Tian’s noodles were served quickly.

But after just two bites, he couldn’t bring himself to take another.

It wasn’t that the noodles were bad, but that the strange, robed people had also entered the shop.

’What’s going on? Have I run into kidnappers?’

’Although he’d never encountered something like this over the years, Sun Tian now remembered that he was, after all, a rich man. He should have some value as a kidnapping target.’

"Boss, two bowls of giblet noodles. One without large intestines, please. Thanks."

Qin Xiaoxia’s calm voice rang out.

"Got it, one without large intestines, right? Just a moment!"

The owner came over, took the money, gave back the change, and left a receipt before returning to the kitchen.

The shop owner didn’t react at all. Sun Tian felt he might be getting too paranoid and continued to eat.

A few minutes later, Sun Tian was on edge again.

A strong intuition told him that the two strange people were staring at the corner where he was sitting.

He had practiced Long Fist for over twenty years, after all. That was enough to give him some courage. Sun Tian took a deep breath and suddenly looked up.

He saw the two of them staring at him without flinching.

They seemed very young, yet also world-weary. As this contradictory feeling arose, Sun Tian realized he couldn’t see their faces clearly. He could only vaguely judge from their figures that it was a man and a woman.

He glanced again at their table.

’Giblet noodles? When?’

’Every bowl of noodles at Uncle Ma Er’s Giblet Noodle Shop is generously portioned. An ordinary person might not even be able to finish a bowl if they weren’t very hungry. But when were their noodles served? And when did they finish them?’

Su Su was still licking her lips. ’The noodles were so delicious... or maybe my appetite has just gotten huge. If I weren’t on a mission, I’d really love to eat a few more bowls.’

’How will Mentor approach Sun Tian? What were the contents of the contract the Sun Family made three hundred years ago, according to the association’s records?’

Su Su was filled with anticipation. ’After all, we’re collecting a debt for Dawn!’

"Let’s go. The Sun Family has forgotten the contract."

"Huh!? What?"

Su Su’s heart jumped. Before she could even process the meaning of his words, she saw Qin Xiaoxia had already gotten up and was walking toward the door.

She glanced at Sun Tian, then at Qin Xiaoxia’s retreating back, and quickly stood up to follow, unable to hold back her questions.

"But, Mentor! Aren’t we going to make contact? We came all this way for this!!"

"There’s no need. An ordinary life is good, too. Let them forget!"

Without even turning his head, Qin Xiaoxia walked out of the shop.

What is the highest realm of trickery? It’s not about me telling you what’s right and what’s wrong. It’s like planting: the only way to ensure it takes root is to sow a seed and wait for it to sprout on its own! This was the royal road, a game the ancestors of Dawn had been playing for centuries.

Su Su glanced back, leaving behind only a resentful look and a flash of her swinging, light-gold hair, before she followed him out.

The two of them had arrived quickly, and they left even faster!

But Sun Tian’s mind was now in a state of chaos.

’What was that all about?’

He looked at the other eight people in the shop, including the owner. It was as if the loud voices and commotion from just now had never happened.

’But that can’t be right. The owner is coming to clear their bowls and chopsticks right now.’

It was simply... bizarre!

For some reason, the giblet noodles had lost their taste. For the first time ever, Sun Tian left noodles in his bowl here. He stood up and left.

Once outside, he subconsciously looked around. The two strange people were really gone.

He was lost in thought on the way back to his car, and he remained preoccupied as he drove home.

’The Sun Family? A contract? Forgotten?’
