The Old Knight of a Frontier District

Episode 7: The Story of King Jean (Part II)

4.

King Jean is not from this land.

From the far reaches of the sky, I came aboard the Starship.

There were many "sailors" aboard the starship and many more "sleeping people" aboard.

Strange thing, though. Hey.

Both the Sailors and the Sleeping People flew over the stars asleep.

King Jean was one of the Sailors.

When the starship came down to the land, everyone was supposed to wake up, but somehow one King Jean woke up first.

King Jean tried to wake up another "sailor," but was unable to do so.

There are only a few "sailors" who can wake up "Sleeping People", and unless those people wake up, they can't wake up "Sleeping People" either.

King Jean descended to the land alone and began his adventure.

Lots of people lived in the land.

Oh.

I'm not talking about humans.

The way I say it now, it's about subpeople.

King Jean called them "people from the beginning".

It was not in King Jean's time that the word "subhuman" was born.

It's always been after that.

I'm subhuman and I don't like words.

But, well, let me put it this way that I'm familiar with you.

The sub-men were contending with the sub-men of other races and with other tribes of the same race.

King Jean made friends among the subpeople, and united his hands to many of them, and brought peace to the land.

King Jean is great because he has done such a great cause there for more than a decade.

They called King Jean a single king.

King Jean, who was young, was growing old.

Eventually, the sailors began to wake up.

King Jean was very pleased and tried to wake up the "sleeping people" as well.

But some of the "sailors" disagreed.

King Jean thought that the Sailors and the Sleeping People and the Subhumans should hold hands together, according to the old statutes.

In contrast, some "sailors" thought that "sailors" should become aristocrats, "sleeping people" should become civilians, and the sub-people should become slaves.

Among the "sailors" there was also a class.

And King Jean wasn't very high up, was he?

The finest sailors, starting with Captain Funasa, did not want to acknowledge King Jean's thinking.

On the contrary, only one of them woke up early and became king, Jean, called him a traitor and locked him up.

Nothing.

They wanted to be king.

The finest "sailors" became kings, decided to distribute the territory, embedded tricks because they controlled the people, and then tried to wake up the "sleepers".

King Jean escaped, helped by the "sailors" who would take his side, and the "sailors" split into two factions and fought over each other.

Take Captain Funasa on one side and King Jean on the other.

A long and intense war ensued.

The Sailors had powerful weapons brought in from the stars.

And the thunder (dust) that slashed and tore the sky, and the giant hammers that crushed the mountains, were sifted, and the forests were burned, and the rivers were dried up.

At one point, King Jean was captured by the enemy.

On the verge of execution, a miracle happened.

The Spirit, who was once close to King Jean, merged into King Jean's life and became one.

It's the first Spirit Possession in the world.

Until then, no one thought I could do that.

The "sailors" didn't see the spirits either, but you had the intention of making them visible.

But the Spirit was thought to be nothing but fluffy and drifting, undisturbed but not helpful.

King Jean was such a weirdo to get along with things that didn't help.

The Spirit is originally somewhere else, not in this world, from which it comes into this world.

When he dies, he will return to the world he was born in, and he will gain new power.

Unlimited.

When the Spirit merges into a person and becomes a part of his life, that person gains a strange power.

Your body becomes sturdy and can heal quickly even if you suffer a wound.

The power becomes stronger and less aware of tiredness.

Life expectancy is much longer.

That's not all.

Increase the power of fire, water, soil and wind, create illusions, and many strange intentions become available.

With the power gained by becoming spirit-possessed, King Jean gained his freedom again.

Then the "sailors" of the two factions tried to become spirit-possessed.

A method of forcibly taking in spirits was also knitted.

A lot of spirits have been taken in.

Some people, like the spirits who were my friends, weren't taken in.

In the end, King Jean triumphed when the cooperation of the Asians became the deciding factor.

The "Captain" was captured and executed, and no longer defied King Jean.

But the centre of the continent was so desolate that people could not live there.

King Jean awakened the Sleeping People and dwelt on each of the continent's north-western and south-western frontiers.

Thus finally came a time of peace, but that did not last long.

The Warcraft showed up.

Until then, what was a normal animal suddenly became a warcraft one day.

The body grew larger, its life span was many times longer, and its vitality was surprisingly strong.

At first I had no idea why warcrafting would occur.

King Jean got an examination, thought, and answer.

The Spirit will be resurrected once he dies.

Keep previous memories.

That's what it was.

But the spirits who were taken in by man and disappeared never came back.

It wasn't.

I was resurrected.

As a warcraft.

The Spirit who has become one with man, when he is resurrected, loses his memory until then.

That's not all.

You're resurrected as a mad spirit, so to speak, with no wisdom, no heart, no kindness.

Crazy spirits try to possess creatures when they are resurrected.

Crazy spirits, however, do not possess wise creatures.

That's why you possess the beast.

Beasts possessed by mad spirits become strong and hard.

But that's not all.

Be fierce.

Besides, the ferocity is directed only at humans.

If you look at a human being and smell a human being, he will attack you wildly and madly, and he will finally have to.

That was who the Warcraft was.

That's right.

Many crazy spirits were born as a result of the killing of each other by the spirit-possessed [sailors].

It was the beast who possessed it.

Kill the Warcraft, and a mad Spirit will escape from it and possess it by another beast.

Warcraft, though beasts and subhumans do not hate, men do.

If a man approaches, the warcraft becomes fierce, and the beast near it becomes fierce.

Warcraft rises possessed by beasts, whether they kill them or not, and they become warcraft and hate and attack men.

King Jean, knowing the truth, was shocked and mourned.

You just destroyed those innocent, happy looking spirits, because they're going to hate and kill each other forever.

Nevertheless, we cannot leave the Warcraft unattended.

King Jean made a weapon that could defeat the Warcraft.

Looks like you've helped the great spirits, but I don't know any details there.

Great spirits are like spiritual gods.

Together, the Spirit had a power comparable to hundreds and thousands.

I have never spoken to the spirits, but I have watched the world with the spirits.

It seems that the sword of the Spirit God's dwelling could defeat a hundred warcraft in one swing.

Even so, whether you kill it or not, you're just resurrected as a warcraft.

In these days, death was also imminent for King Jean, who became long-lived by becoming a spirit possessor.

During his life span, which was not long, he desperately explored how men and warcraft could not have killed each other.

The result is "Blue Stone (Yergog)", "Red Stone (Logog)" and "Great Barrier".

You've seen Blue Stone before.

It is a magic stone that can defeat and make you obey the beast.

The Red Stone (Logogog) is a magical stone that attracts spirits seeking to rise.

King Jean covered the land inhabited by men with huge walls.

Birth of Jean Dessa Law, a large wall of Jean.

Baldo Lowen.

You know what's beyond the Great Barrier?

Heh heh heh.

Yes, yes.

The woods inhabited by warcraft are spreading.

So, what do you think's beyond that?

Don't you see?

I guess so. Hey.

I can't even think about it in common sense.

Water.

Salt water.

The land inhabited by men is surrounded by great barriers, and on its exterior is a forest inhabited by warcraft; moreover, it is surrounded by salty water.

Let's just say there's this earth floating on the water.

Hi-ha, hi-ha, hi-ha.

Can you believe it?

I can't help it.

You have to see it with your own eyes. Oh, I can't believe it.

Me, too, I know, but I'm not sure myself if I believe it.

But that's the truth.

What? I'm sorry.

What's on the outside of that water?

Come on.

I don't know anything more than that.

It's not even in the memory of the spirits who blended in with me and disappeared.

In the centre of the continent there is a vast area of land and a wide border on all sides.

Together, the two are just about the same size, outside the Great Barrier.

King Jean implanted a large quantity of Red Stone (Logog) outside the Great Barrier.

In time, he hunted down the Warcraft inside the Great Barrier.

If I didn't have to kill him, I captured him and dumped him outside the Great Barrier.

When a dead Warcraft rises, it rises outside the Great Barrier, pulled by the Red Stone (Logogog).

The Great Barrier is embedded with Blue Stone (Yergog), so few Warcraft try to get over it.

You already know that.

King Jean divided the place where man lived from the place where the beast lived.

Don't have to kill each other any more by separating them.

But King Jean had remorse.

There were regrets that drove the spirits to such a fate.

At the same time, I wondered if there was any hope.

So on the Great Barrier, a slight gap was made.

Now people and warcraft have to kill each other.

Although.

Someday, way ahead, that again.

The day may come when fanaticism will calm down and return to the innocent and friendly Spirit again.

I want you to come.

I want the day to come when humans and spirits can get along again.

That wish is in that slice.

Wouldn't you?

Without a cut, the Warcraft and the humans would remain separated.

Even if we return to the original Spirit, we cannot know.

Hope the Warcraft will be quiet one day.

Look forward to the day when the Warcraft will be gone and the Spirit will be resurrected.

That cleavage was made as a bond between man and the Spirit.

King Jean died and lost his purpose, which was brought in by the stars.

Man can no longer fly in the sky, nor can he crush the mountains.

King Jean thought that would be all right.

Oh, yeah, yeah.

Horns will grow on many of the beasts that can be made into livestock.

That's not it.

These are the beasts who came to this land with humans aboard a starship.

By the time I woke those beasts up, no great barrier had yet been created.

Because livestock is in trouble to warcraft, so you let the trick loose and keep the crazy spirits from possessing it.

The sign is that horn.

But the beast that was in the land from the beginning couldn't stop the warcrafting.

Let's keep King Jean's story that far.

Baldo Lowen.

I don't know anything more.

But the Queen of Manuno's "Stone" is definitely about "Red Stone (Logog)".

I wonder where the massive Red Stone (Logog) came from.

Did you even dig back outside the Great Barrier?

You can't force a beast to become a warcraft with Red Stone.

Besides, I didn't expect you to put that on a human being.

I wonder if someone is trying to break the proverb set by King Jean.

Then again, Jameen probably had "Blue Stone."

I know about the dragon men, but they didn't even join the wars of the [sailors].

They are a particularly strong species among the Original People.

It ruled other races.

No, no, I wasn't ruling.

I wouldn't be such a pain in the ass.

Funny half, I gave orders to other races, and I was just entertaining them.

I was supposed to stay out of it with people from the stars. Hey.

I heard you say, "I found you."

It was a voice that made me feel horrible.

It is not in my knowledge who it is.

I guess that means the spirits in me showed up at a time when they were away from the humans.

If it's from the same era as King Jean, it seems like it's in the memory of the Spirit.

The Subhumans hold the secret key.

They convey ancient knowledge in the form of legends and codes.

Because all humans today are descendants of the Sleeping People.

I don't know how old it is.

Oh, yeah, yeah.

You know Warcraft can't have children.

So do spirit-possessed humans.

People who have become spirit-possessed cannot have children.

So the "sailors" died long ago.

You're going on a journey, Bardo Lowen.

You should first visit the sub-people who had the Blue Stone (Yergog) and the sub-people who are spirits and friends.

Nevertheless, I don't know that a safe spirit survived.

I'm not happy to hear that.

I don't know much about Lujra-Tiant.

But Lujra-Tiant has always been friends with the Spirit.

I think you're right about your hunch.

I'm sorry I didn't stay like this.

Something terrible happens.

You're going on a journey, Bardo Lowen.

As soon as possible.

5

When I heard this story, Bardo fell ill and fell asleep.

So much so.

The story that humans were not originally inhabitants of this world, but descendants of people who came from quite a few parts of the star world, was interesting, but did not give Bardo an extraordinary surprise.

It's not even an exceptionally novel story.

Although the doctrine of the Ketcha-li God assumes that man naturally arose from the earth, the doctrine of the Koramah God assumes that God made man from pieces of the stars.

Few doctrines assume that man originates in the sky or heaven.

The fact that humans came from across the stars is a likely story.

It is new when it comes to the fact that there were men among them who guided and were guided with God's power and wisdom.

But the Warcraft.

The truth about the Warcraft.

Impacted Baldo.

It may be said that Bardo's whole life has been devoted to protecting people from warcraft for the greater part of his life.

Baldo isn't the only one.

All the knights of the pacra are.

Warcraft was irrational in itself and malice in itself.

Relatively, you'll see.

How it hates humans.

Because they throw everything away and attack us to destroy humans.

Fighting this and defeating it was nothing but justice.

We have to let them do the bloodthirsty things that they let people do.

By killing them.

We have to stop them terrorizing people any more.

By killing them.

Warcraft was something you could kill, something you had to kill, and there was no question about that.

They thought they were heretics, saboteurs and enemies of peace in the world.

But it wasn't.

It wasn't humans who had the right to revenge.

It was them.

Because it was humans who trampled on that happiness and pulled them into the nightmare of perpetual robbery.

It was more human.

It was humans who should have trampled the world for greed and been avenged from the world.

On behalf of the world, they emerged to make man pay for his greed.

And I'll keep showing up.

They were the avengers, and humans were the ones to be judged.

Oh, my God.

When Bardo rose a few days later, he was solidifying his determination to embark on a journey.

But before moving it into action, the messenger came.

He's the knight of Arfraburn's men.

The Arflaburns, who went home for the Imperial capital, bore a hell of a newspaper along the way.

Suddenly, the Sinkai army invaded the Goriola Empire and dropped the Imperial Capital.

And what do you mean?

The king announced that the Empire of Goriola would be subordinated to Sinkai and ordered knights from all over to join the royal capital, he said.

We would like you to come to Rhode Van Castle immediately.

The messenger conveyed the plea of Arflaburn to Bardo.
