The Old Knight of a Frontier District

Episode 9: The Cave of Trials (Part I)

1

"This is the... wind hole"

Kara snapped.

That's a big hole in the hem of the great fuzza.

It goes deep and deep.

There's a lot of noise.

A cool breeze is gushing out of the wind.

Time allows wind holes to suck in or out the wind.

There's a wind passage in this huge mountain.

It is called a wind hole because it is a huge hole in the wind.

Truth is, they have numerous wind holes in the hem of the fuzza.

But this wind pit is special.

Both sides of the entrance to the hole are covered by cut cliffs, making it impossible to penetrate unless you are one who can fly through the sky.

The only way to get here is by passing behind the giant Yambagarpa, the queen of Manouno.

Because it is the sanctuary of Manuno, no one without Manuno's permission can enter the wind pit.

However, dragon men who serve the Fei Dragon are allowed to enter the wind pit without the permission of Manuno.

The seven men, Bardo, Cars, Taranca, Quinta, Kara, Zaria and Knight Nuts, stood in front of the wind hole now.

Its huge entrance reminds me of a demon god with a big mouth open.

A demon who breathes, peels, and waits for a bare sacrifice to enter.

2.

After the meeting with the dragonman's chief, the Baldos were returned to the royal palace in Parzam.

So I made a report to the king.

Only the king and his side were on the spot, but the next day he was asked to make a report once again in front of several heavy ministers.

In his report to the heavy ministers, he mentioned the contents of the meeting with the head of the Dragon Man without exception.

Most reports are made by Talanka, in the form supplemented by Bardo.

The heavy ministers sounded like they were talking about catching clouds badly.

I can't help it.

The heavy ministers have not been told the secrets of knowledge or ancient swords gained from the Queen of Zaria or Manuno.

So I can't combine my knowledge and guess.

The stories of the dragon men and their [or their] grumbling behind the history of the human world, and the legacy of the great ancient kings, seemed to be heard only like fairytales.

Of course, the Baldos don't say anything about their intention to challenge that fuzzy wind hole.

In the end, the Baldos were freed just once for that briefing.

The heavy ministers were being pursued by the work in front of them, and if they could only confirm that the dragon men had no will to contend with the kingdom of Parzam, they wanted to forget about this matter any longer.

Baldo's track record of leading national wars to victory as Wazid Entrante made him polite in his treatment of the Baldos.

Immediately after that, Bardo returned to Fusarion with his companions.

Quinta and the immigrants had not yet arrived.

I think I've outrun him somewhere.

Many immigrants take turns walking, and they pull carriages loaded with loads of luggage, so that's not impossible.

Bardo reported his history to Jurchaga and Doriatessa and those who took the lead.

I tried to head straight to the tree sea, but it didn't.

Doriatessa had a number of urgent business she wanted to talk to Bardo about running the Fusarion.

Some of them were the treatment of the knight Kizmeltre and the knight Noah.

These two knights were knights raised by Huddle Zoalus, who had each led a family to serve the Cars and had arrived in Fusarion at the end of August last year.

Doriatessa had initially encountered the two and their sons as guests, but eventually began to seek help from the security and escorts, a force that must now be in the Fusarion.

The two were delighted to see Cars and just tried to offer him a sword.

But from Cars,

"If you're going to swear allegiance to me, give Baldo Lowen his sword."

I was told, and offered my sword to Bardo.

Bardo took this in the name of the Lowen family parent.

That way, after Bardo's death, these two offered swords will belong to Cars.

The two knights had come to Fusarion with their wives, sons and servants.

Tulgator, the eldest son of the knight Kizmertol, is twenty-two years old, and his second son, Hungator, is nineteen years old.

Also Dali, the eldest son of the knight Noah, is twenty years old, and Gore, the second son, seventeen years old.

Of these, Tulgator and Dali have already been knighted by Count Huddle.

The question is what to do with this attribution of Tulgator and Dali, and what to do with the treatment of the second sons.

To hold one knight, that's all it takes to support his fortune.

It is not just that we need the money for the life of one knight who is a complete non-producer.

Weapons and equipment must be maintained and new, families and ministers must be fed, and in other words, enough wealth must be accumulated to withstand the costs of war.

I need more money to raise a backward knight and make him run.

If you want to wander with your squire and rely only on your arms, like Banzren Daier, it takes a lot of money to feed one knight.

Even when it comes to the Lowen family, they just have one small house in Fusarion, and they don't own any land or people like this.

The fact that Knight Kizmertol and Knight Noah serve Cars is not conceivable, but it is a question of what to do with them.

Bardo decided in this way after consulting with Jurchaga, Doriatessa and, furthermore, Knight Helidan, the lead knight of the Olgazard family.

In addition to the knight Kizmertol and the knight Noah, his two eldest sons, the knight Tulgator and the knight Dali, shall also serve the Lowen family.

The second son, Hungary, and the second son, Gore, continue to train as knights, still knighting the Lowen family as their home.

The Fusarion lord, the Olgazard, will give the Lowens all their possessions.

The Rohens are not ministers of the Olgazards, but they cooperate fully in their governance and receive instructions.

Knight Banzren Daier will continue to meet as a guest general to fund his life.

As of now, the knights under the direct control of the Orgazad family are the three knights Helidan, Taranca the Knight and Quinta the Knight, but Seto and Nuba continue their knight training and take up their duties as knights of the Orgazad family.

Five new young people are also scheduled to begin knight training this year, but another five will be chosen to begin knight training next year.

All knights, beginning with those ten young men and henceforth to be recited in the Fusarion, shall serve the Olgazard family.

With this decision, the knight Helidan was about half joyful and half sighing.

It is good that the Olgazard family develops, because in addition to Seto, who is now taking care of him, we know that the upbringing of some of those new ten will be pushed against him.

Knight Kizmeltre and Knight Noah were terribly surprised and delighted to hear this decision.

I never thought I'd get that kind of treatment.

The two were impressed by Bardo's authority and the measure of the Olgazard family.

We have yet to realize that we will be assigned a lot of graduates as well.

Tempel-Aid came to visit me under Baldo, who laid the brunt on this issue.

Tempel-Aid and his line arrived in Fusarion early last September.

Doriatessa, who read Bardo's letter, was terribly surprised, but did not roughly treat this whole group that Bardo had invited.

In the meantime, I decided to let Fusarion build a temporary cabin to live in and help me with farming.

And they paid for it with wheat and salt.

If you keep it for wheat or salt, it's comforting wherever you make your village.

Agis villagers haven't eaten wheat in a long time, and their lives with plenty of fine salt seemed like a dream.

There are also plenty of fresh fish here.

That's how he waited for Baldo to return, improving his health.

Bardo consulted with the people who started him on which position to let him create the village of Agis.

After much deliberation, Zaria's proposal chose the banks of the West River for about five minutes.

but on the west side of the river.

The village of Agis will develop from here to the west.

I plan to manpower it, cut the trees, try planting Egarthosia, make sure it grows safely before I build a house.

Tempel-Aid looked at the candidate with Knight Garx and was very satisfied with the fertility of the land, the good water stool and the great room for development.

In addition, there were many other cases in which Doriatessa wanted to consult Bardo.

Bardo went on to consult some of them, and some told everyone to consult him.

Immigrants led by Quinta arrived where they were doing so.

I couldn't even pretend not to know about this acceptance, and I spent some days.

Finally demarcated, Bardo tried to take Cars and Taranca, Quinta, and Zaria to the wind pit.

I insisted that Kara follow as a matter of course.

That's fine, but for some reason, the knight nuts definitely ate up to follow.

After this guy delivered the immigrants, Chantillion told him to see and hear about Fusarion for a while or something, and he was looking here and there and going to talk to Jurchaga and Doriatessa.

Doriatessa had responded with a grin and had used the knight nuts around to exorcise the wildlings for escorts and beast hunting.

In the end, Knight Nuts was to accompany the Knights to Baldo alone by returning the Knights first.

Thus Bardo was finally able to embark on his journey.

3

When she reached the Queen of Manuno, unexpectedly, the Queen asked, "Have you come to challenge the wind pit?"

When Bardo answered yes, the queen commanded one of the manounos to lead the Bardos to the wind pit.

The Baldos went into the wind pit.

The air inside is terribly cold.

From the heavens the hardness of the rocks hangs, and from the earth the pillars of the rocks rise.

Going through a wind hole that creeps and twists, the breadth that was more than a hundred steps up, down, left, and right suddenly shrinks.

Still, the wind hole continues into the back.

The Baldos proceeded as they were made to pass by the wind.

The entrance was bright, but naturally dark enough to go back.

We proceeded along the way with the pine lights.

Moving on for a while more, there are seven blurry things ahead.

Pedestal.

There are six pedestals that are like sharpened white brilliant stones.

That doesn't mean it's sticking out of the ground, so to speak, like it's been embedded.

The top surface of the pedestal is polished up like a mirror, wide enough for a large human to ride.

The pedestal emits a light green light.

Would it have been abandoned for years, but not one sand dust, because it kept washing in the wind that blew?

Behind the pedestal, the rocks rise and are at an end.

There seems to be a way out of the wind up there, but it's not a very good place for people to go through.

At the end of the day, the stone walls are fitted with polished stone slabs.

The tablet emits a pale peach light.

The tablet has letters dug in, but it's written in a terribly old typeface, which Bardo can't read.

But Zaria could read it.

"'He who challenges the Cave of Trials. Something must be more than three. And there shall be no more than six. Wait on the pedestal. Walk in the back and go up to the arena one by one. If you do, the enemy is in front of everything. If all of them leave their enemies, they will be rewarded with great rewards."

"It must be here, Master Bardo.

The entrance the dragon men couldn't get from there. "

That being the case, Bardo replied to Taranca.

The Dragonman came here seven times and tried to advance to the "Cave of Trials".

But I couldn't get in.

The dragon men would have tried various combinations of members and numbers.

So the conditions for entering here are not strength or number of people.

Something else.

When I touch it, the rock walls don't even slightly move, and I don't see anything like a gap.

Bardo tried to get on a green pedestal, but nothing happens after waiting a while.

Zaria opened her mouth as she stared at the tablet.

"Baldo.

I get it.

All right.

"Three or more" and "six or more" are creepy.

The "six (Dalva)" in the back is definitely about the number of people.

Six pedestals.

Up to six people are limited.

The problem is the first one, "Three or more."

Carla, can you see this?

and Zaria asked Kara.

Zaria discerns that Kara is quite academic and knowledgeable, and nurtures her while letting her do things like an assistant at hand.

"Huh?

Right.

Hmmm......

Oh, well!

Though Tori is also used when counting the number of people, isn't it originally about humans?

That's why I couldn't be a dragon man.

There must be three or more humans on the pedestal here, and the trick won't work.

That's right.

You didn't even think that the dragon men were being beaten.

But I couldn't be a dragon man.

Isn't that right, aunt?

"Heh, heh.

Well, why don't you give it a try?

Guys.

Get on the pedestal. "

Aside from Bardo, who followed Zaria's words and was already on the pedestal, five others rode on the pedestal: Cars, Taranca, Quinta, Kara and Nuts.

I waited awhile, but nothing happened.

If so, it is not a condition that there are six of them, and there is an ancient sword user in them.

Kara conceived.

"Didn't I? Ah.

Then what would it be?

Tori.

Tori. "

"Kara.

Indeed, the term Tori is used to refer to human beings.

But that's recent.

In ancient times, non-human species were all Torri.

Proof of this is that the dragon man is called "Nada Torri", or lizard person, and the gelcast is called "Liee Torri", or green person, and the manuno is called "Alta Torri", or water person.

What happens then? "

"Hmm.

Human.

Subhuman.

People.

All races are "Tori".

... Ah.

Could be.

"Three or more" means more than three races?

"Yes.

That's the right answer.

Bringing together up to six people, including three or more races.

I guess that's the condition to move on.

That coincides with the idea of King Jean, who hoped that another race would join hands.

I see.

It seems true that there is a hidden path to King Jean's legacy in this cave.

Baldo. "

Bardo stepped off the pedestal and approached Zaria.

"These six can't go in there.

You're back in business.

You know a lot of sub people, so we can work this out, right?

Call two more types of people besides humans.

And then.

Once inside, it will be a battle.

The enemy must be tough.

Six must be able to beat any enemy.

It's about being chosen. "

Six of the strongest.

That determines the fate of the world.

Bardo closed his eyes and pictured those six in his mind.

Then he opened his eyes and issued an order.

Cars.

Go to Engdall, the brave man of Gerkast and chief of the Zoi clan.

And bring Engdall.

The place to meet is Fusarion.

Assemble in the fusarion first.

Cars nodded.

Taranca.

You go to Maisian territory.

Bring Gordon Zarkos.

Let me get you a big battle hammer.

And heavy armor.

"Yes."

Quinta.

Your destination is not the home of the Tessara family.

Meet Jemite, the brave Jamien, in my name, and bring him here.

Tell them to get ready for battle.

"Ha."

All right.

Three in Engdall, Yemite and Gordon.

Plus me and Cars. Five.

The other one...

"I'm the other one."

In one word of Zaria, four men were taken aside from Bardo and Cars.

And I vehemently disagreed.

"No!

Auntie.

If it's a sword arm, it's me. "

and Quinta.

"Judgement, defense and endurance are better for me"

and Taranca.

"Oh, I'm younger!

and Kara.

"We don't take hiccups in the rush of experience and battle."

and nuts.

But Zaria laughed at the four.

"Hmm.

You don't understand.

There are only five other men in the war.

What's missing?

You, come here. "

Zaria attracted Kara.

And I took my left arm and turned my clothes.

There, on the way through the sea of trees, we sent Onimutsude. There are signs of someone burning red.

Zaria put her right palm on that scar, closed her eyes and crushed some kind of spell.

Zaria's palm emits a blurry red light.

Kara's wounds were then soothed and returned to her normal skin.

"Hmm.

I'm tired, so I don't do much of this.

You got it, young builders.

The sixth person needs a therapeutic magician.

A healing magician will help any wound in no time. "

"Here, here, this is!

The secret to healing?

I can't believe I could do this without sacred equipment and rituals.

Still, what a strong effect.

That's right.

Spirit.

It's the power of the spirits that got inside your aunt's body, isn't it?

How amazing. "

Carla is making a scene.

Kara accidentally showed off her knowledge of healing secrets, sacred objects and rituals that Bardo had never even heard of.

Maybe this stomach is itchy for the Temple of Mercano, Bardo thought.

Taranka and Quinta are silent.

You will regret coming so far and being removed from the members of the showdown.

Nevertheless, if I can show you the strange power of Zaria, I'll have to shut up.

Even if not, Zaria's wisdom must be helpful in exploring.

Nor can we very much argue that we are stronger than Gordon or Cars.

But leaving Taranka and Quinta, it's not because they're useless.

Those who enter may never return.

They have a role to play in the times to come.

Therefore, six people were decided to challenge the "Cave of Trials".

Step into this cave and you'll have an unprecedented fierce battle ahead of you.

Even if we win it out, we don't know what lies ahead.

Still, if we fight and win, we can clear the way.

Before his new adventure, Bardo felt his whole body rejuvenated and new powers gushed.

Bardo went back to Fusarion once.

Eventually Engdall, Yemite, came, Gordon.

Yemith was to stay at the house of the old Pinen.

Looks like we need to talk about piling up.

Engdall wondered if he would bring anyone with him, but he was alone.

When asked about it, he said, "I guess this is a secret adventure. My medal is carved into the chest of Nguedo Tori Bardo," he said.

entertain them with Camlar's dishes and nourish their acumen.

He also conducted simulated combat and studied advances and defences in caves.

And the twenty-fifth day of August, four thousand two hundred and seventy-nine of the Continental Calendar.

They were in front of the wind pit.

Bardo is sixty-seven years old at this time.

Gordon is forty-seven years old.
