Chapter 104: Cerberus Leaves
For an extremely brief moment, Mark suddenly became proficient in all the knowledge about spear techniques used by cultivators. Thanks to that, he was able to immediately develop the secret technique that best suited his physical condition and his desire.
Mark considered himself a good-for-nothing and had always felt that his strength was inferior to everyone else. Since that was the case, he created a secret technique that concentrated everything he had into a single attack.
Trading the life of a piece of trash for a chance at survival for his teammates was an absolutely profitable deal for Mark.
Mark’s consciousness returned to his body once again, only this time he couldn’t see anything at all. Nexus only ensured that he wouldn’t die, but it didn’t ensure that all the senses in his body would still be functional.
Energy kept escaping from Mark’s body. He didn’t have much time left. If he didn’t launch the attack quickly, its effectiveness would rapidly decrease.
Damn it, I can’t see anything. How am I supposed to use the secret technique like this?
When faced with a difficult situation, Mark immediately thought of his earth-type spiritual root. It’s just that Mark himself was too weak. Otherwise, he could control the earth like his own arms and legs.
Mark tried to concentrate his mind and use the ground to sense everything around him. He couldn’t sense much, but at least he could know where the skeleton knight was standing as long as it was still on the ground.
"Ohoho, so you can even sense the ground? Looks like being blind is a good thing for you after all."
Cerberus watched Mark’s strange state with interest. Right now, if he made the skeleton knight jump around, Mark definitely wouldn’t have enough time to determine its current position.
But Cerberus had no intention of doing that. He just wanted to see what kind of attack Mark planned to use to destroy an A-rank monster when he was only F-rank.
In Mark’s perception, the structure of the cave became incredibly clear. But he couldn’t sense anything that was attached to the ground.
The only thing about the skeleton knight that Mark could sense was where its feet touched the ground, but that was already enough.
Having seen the skeleton knight with his own eyes before, Mark used that as a reference to recreate its body shape and calculate exactly how he should launch his attack.
Die!
Mark stomped his foot, and the ground cracked almost immediately. The ground right where the skeleton knight was standing suddenly collapsed, and the earth from both sides kept squeezing it tightly, locking it in place and leaving only half of its body above the ground.
All the berserk power in Mark’s body was channeled through Mark’s right hand, with most of it flowing into the spear.
"Arghhhh!"
Mark roared and threw the spear with everything he had. The moment the spear shot forward, his right arm exploded.
The arm wasn’t blown apart into pieces, but into dust, flesh, and bones. It was destroyed to such an extent that even if a hundred top doctors were standing beside him right now, there was no way they could reattach his arm.
The spearhead, carrying berserk energy, shot forward so fast that even an A-rank monster like the skeleton knight almost couldn’t react in time.
But even though it managed to react at the last moment, the ground had already locked its body together with its greatsword, leaving it helpless against the attack.
A deafening explosion rang out, and the cave began to collapse. In an extremely brief moment, the entire upper half of the skeleton knight’s body, including its energy core, was shattered by the enormous force.
Did I succeed?
Mark wondered, but before he could get an answer, his consciousness disappeared. His constantly bleeding body fell straight forward.
"Ohoho, what a wonderful performance. Even though you’re only F-rank, your spirit isn’t bad at all. No wonder an immortal existence chose you."
Only then did Cerberus stand up and casually praise him a few times before continuing to fold his arms behind his back. A spatial rift appeared right beside him, but before he could step inside, Nexus and the system appeared.
[Stupid master, what do you think of Mark’s second lesson? I, for one, feel extremely disappointed.]
"Not as good as expected, but it’s enough for now. He’s no longer that kid who knows nothing. His cultivation path will become much easier from now on."
Nexus and the system talked to each other while completely ignoring Cerberus’s existence, making Cerberus immediately lose his temper.
"Hmph, can’t you show me a little respect? I’m standing right here and you can’t even be bothered to say hello?"
If it weren’t for the bunch of ridiculous rules Lucifer had set up that forced him to temporarily follow them, he would have already rushed in and started a fight as a greeting.
"Almost forgot. Thanks for cooperating and helping my disciple complete his lesson. If you had been a little more serious, Mark would’ve been dead long ago."
Nexus turned around and looked at Cerberus before casually thanking him. Even if he wanted to say more, there was nothing else for him to say.
Observing from such a close distance, together with the fact that Nexus didn’t bother to hide himself, Cerberus immediately noticed something strange. And that system too, it had both the ’smell’ of heaven and the ’smell’ of hell.
"You! Ohoho, I get it. Lucifer suddenly becoming so ’diligent’ is because of you."
Cerberus’s eyes widened before he laughed. He immediately forgot about the unpleasantness from earlier. A guest who had been personally welcomed by both Michael and Lucifer was definitely a supreme existence from some plane.
"Tell your disciple that if he wants revenge, he can come anytime. As long as he wants, I’ll come and kill him one more time."
As he spoke, he pointed toward Mark’s barely breathing body. Mark should have died long ago, but Nexus was keeping him alive.
"No need to make things so troublesome. Won’t you two meet again sooner or later anyway?"
Nexus shook his head. Whether he did something meaningless or not wouldn’t change the outcome, so Nexus didn’t care.
"Goodbye. Destroy that dungeon core for me when you leave."
As for Nexus’s disrespectful attitude, Cerberus didn’t care. Knowing the reason Lucifer had changed his attitude was already an unexpected joy.
