The Only Cultivator in a World of Hunters

Chapter 78: White Understands More About Nexus

White’s sudden suggestion made Nexus and the system quickly exchange thoughts about it.

According to the system, all of them now belonged to the Cultivation Academy, and Nexus’s goal was to spread cultivation in this world. So if they went to study as hunters now, would that count as going against the plan?

After a short discussion, they both agreed to head to the American Hunter Academy. After all, the Cultivation Academy only had a name right now, without enough people or even a headquarters. Staying somewhere else temporarily wasn’t a problem.

"What’s this American Hunter Academy?"

Even though he could just scan the entire planet and find the place directly, Nexus still asked White. She was the one who brought it up, so she should at least get the chance to explain.

"Have you been lost on a mountain for decades or something? You don’t even know this? And System, didn’t you call yourself all-powerful? You don’t know either?"

White frowned at the two mysterious beings. They seemed impressive enough, but somehow didn’t know basic common knowledge.

[How dare a mere mortal look down on this great system? The only things that exist are things you don’t know, not things I don’t know. Is your brain just for decoration? Couldn’t you tell my idiot master was giving you a chance to talk?]

The system had a pretty good impression of White, but if she dared insult it, there was no way it would go easy on her.

"What?"

White’s eyelids twitched a few times before she looked at Nexus. The clueless expression he had just shown was so convincing that she’d forgotten normal logic didn’t apply to him.

"You already knew, and you still made me into a joke? You think just because you’re my master, you can do whatever you want?"

White really wanted to punch Nexus’s current stone-faced expression. But this "stone" was way too hard. Punching it would only hurt her own hand without getting her anything.

"I’m really telling the truth. Want to see my story? At least after you do, you’ll understand what kind of existence I am, so you can stop wasting energy with all these random suspicions."

Nexus shrugged and looked at White with an innocent expression. He had no reason to lie. Right now, he really didn’t know.

"Like what happened earlier?"

Thinking about that feeling of standing there and directly watching someone else’s story almost instantly, White became very interested.

"Yeah. But I’d recommend the summarized version. The full version takes a very long time and has way too much information. If you watch all of it, you’ll end up with a massive headache, so I don’t recommend it."

"What? Is it really that much?"

White frowned. She suddenly started suspecting that Nexus had actually lived far longer than she’d imagined.

Her brain belonged to an S-rank hunter, so it was vastly superior to an ordinary person’s. Not in terms of logical thinking, but in processing speed and information storage.

White could actually memorize that entire cultivation technique very quickly if she seriously tried. If her brain were only on Mark’s level, the system would’ve had to buff her memory already.

That ridiculously overpowered brain was exactly why White wondered just how much information it would take to give her a headache.

"I have no reason to lie. I don’t need to lie either. If you want to watch the full version, that’s fine, but it’ll take much longer than you can imagine."

The more Nexus talked like that, the more uneasy White felt. Her usual confidence shrank to almost nothing in front of him.

"The summarized version is enough. Just don’t leave out anything important."

Nexus nodded and touched a finger against her forehead. An overwhelming flood of information poured into her mind, making her face tighten unconsciously. Of course, Nexus had already filtered out everything that should be left out. There was no way he could let her see all of it.

Nexus’s life was far longer than the sun’s age. Even after being compressed into an extremely concise summary, that amount of information was still enough to leave an S-rank hunter like White completely stunned.

It took White a full ten minutes to digest all that information, while going through more than a week of Mark’s life had only taken an instant.

"You’ve got to be kidding me? You’ve lived that many years without taking your clothes off even once? I thought I’d at least get to see one spicy scene, but turns out you’re the universe’s undefeated lifelong bachelor."

After watching Nexus’s life, White didn’t dislike him as much anymore. She still couldn’t bring herself to like him, but at least she understood his personality and the way he acted.

How could someone like White, who protected humanity, possibly like an existence that wandered everywhere and accidentally destroyed countless civilizations over and over again?

On top of that, after seeing Nexus’s life, she finally understood where his absurd absolute confidence came from. If you’d always been unbeatable no matter where you went, how could you not be confident?

Thinking about how she’d confidently declared that she’d surpass Nexus one day, White’s face flushed slightly. Those words felt so stupid now that she didn’t even want to remember them.

"Good thing you don’t have that terrifying passive effect in this plane. Otherwise, I would’ve died without ever knowing what killed me."

White let out an exhausted sigh as she thought about Nexus’s incredibly boring life that had somehow caused more destruction than almost anyone else.

"Your turn now. Tell me all the common knowledge that normal people in this world know."

"What a pain. You could figure it out yourself in an instant."

Even though White rolled her eyes, she’d already understood that Nexus hadn’t been making fun of her, so she naturally explained everything she thought he needed to know in detail.

First were the Hunter Academies. There were quite a few of them around the world, both public and private. Still, the real centers were the four greatest Hunter Academies across the four continents: Asia, Europe, Africa, and America.
