20 Stories: Scarlet's best friend
Once I painted some more that day, I took a break there. Me and Mr. Redgard are sick. Impossible is not good.... they die of lack of magic, so really, it's not a good idea to impose.
To avoid imposing myself, I decided to sleep outside today. [M] The horses just stopped by as soon as I went outside with my blanket. [M] Yeah, thanks. I'll take care of you.
"Ho, am I really good too...?
"Yeah. I think you're good because you're a benefactor to the horses. I think that's why horses pull."
And Mr. Redgard sleeps outside, too.
When he came out because 'I want to see where Togo sleeps surrounded by pegasus and unicorns', he was also pulled or pushed by a horse and brought to the tree of the fountain. So I drew out his hammock as well.
Mr. Redgard is terrified, he goes through the horses, lays down in a hammock, and wears a blanket there.... Then, after all, the horses came and began to dive under him or stick to his side.
"See. Right?
"Ooh... this is awesome. Awesome benefits...... Wow, Pegasus and Unicorn here."
Mr. Redgard was leaking that sentiment. Yes, it is. All the horses here are good guys. When the horse is praised, somehow, I'm glad too.
The next day, I was in the finishing touches.
Put a dark color on the shadowy area and a clearer color where there is not enough shadow......
Watercolor paintings enjoy layering colors this way. Little by little, little by little. All the drawings overlap and accumulate, in one color, into one picture. This is fun.
It's not a waste of what I'm doing. 'Cause that's how I feel, just a little.
... and I'm the most important part of this painting... I was drawing Mr. Redgard's eyes.
As fine as possible. Then clearly.
I drew clothes and backgrounds quite thoroughly. Still, I painted the pattern in good detail, but still, it was faint.... but your face, it's not like that.
Especially the eyes. Because it's the best place to go. So I want to draw up the finest, clearest, most beautiful.
... though.
"Which color should I..."
I was worried about the painted palette and the paper I tried to paint.
Oh, my God, I don't have the color to stick to his eyes.
Paint basically loses its vibrancy the more you mix it.
Though it would also be possible to refer to it as' out of depth '...... not suitable for the expression of shiny scarlet eyes.
And all the paints I have are subtly different colors.
Red flower petals also come in different colors. It's not the color of red soil. The color of my blood doesn't stick. [M]
... So, I'm having a little trouble.
"Hey, Togo, you okay?
"Hmmm......"
It's all just a subtle difference, if you ask me. But I don't want to compromise on that 'subtle difference'. Especially with regard to Mr Redgard's eyes, I would never, ever want to compromise.
I don't know what to do. Do you want to go outside and look for paint now? That's not true either......
... that's how I get lost.
Kikyu.
Such a voice was heard from outside the window.
"Oh, you're here too."
I went outside the house and there was a red dragon there. He lands with scarlet wings on his face, where Mr. Redgard seems to feel comfortable stroking him.
"Uh, I'm sorry, Togo. I left this guy at home... he seems to have come this way"
Speaking of which, you said 'no good demon stones' about the Red Dragon. Apparently, something called a subpoena needs a gem that will be the residence of the subpoena. They usually wear that jewel so that they can serve the summons at any time.
So until we got that gem, this red dragon was supposed to be in the garden of your mansion, it seems...
"Here. He said it was ticklish."
... The Red Dragon looks happy to lick Mr. Redgard's cheek and then rub it off. Yeah. If this is all you miss, you felt sorry for keeping it apart.
"Sorry, Togo. Hey, can you wait for the painter? I'll play with him a little bit later."
"Yeah."
I watch the Red Dragon, the other Summoners, the Wolf of Fire and the Bird of Fire play...
... Ah!
"Oh? Togo, what's up?
I approach the Red Dragon.
Because you drew more than half of it with my blood, this scarlet dragon seems to miss me to some extent, too. Just lean your neck as I approach, and you won't attack me.
I watched such a red dragon... and was delighted.
"This color!
The color of Mr. Redgard's eyes! Here it is! The color of the red dragon scales really looks just like it!
When that happens, we have to hurry. I'll ask the Red Dragon to hurry. [M]
"One scale, please!
Just enough to make it into paint!
... in the end. The Red Dragon gave me the scales generously. One of the guys who was peeling off his tail.
I also got permission from Mr. Redgard. 'Cause you're gonna skin it anyway, all right!' And so I thank you for the scales.
Well.
I quickly drew a tube of paint, scaled the colour label... and made a very beautiful scarlet paint.
Come on, now, we can finish the painting!
"Mr. Redgard!
... and I thought.
"Uh, bad, Togo! Just give me a few more minutes!
Apparently, the Red Dragons and the Fire Spirits don't want to let Mr. Redgard go. I don't have a model, so I'll keep some more paintings.
Yeah. I can't help it. I can't help it, but...
... I want to draw fast!
After all, it was the next day that the painting was finished.
But the painting is finally complete. Finally. Finally. It was a long time since I could draw, and I felt it long after I started drawing. Even after I got the scarlet paint, it felt so long!
"Well, I'll go"
"Oh, wow."
I got ready to fall (i.e., put out a blanket, set up in a position where the horse could drop by, there) and added the last stroke.
Now the painting is complete.
... at that moment.
Sieve, and the watercolor trembles, and kiku, and gather...
"Whoa!?
I got caught up in Mr. Redgard, I thought.
"... ah"
He stared at it, moving his hands.... with both eyes.
"... TOUGO!
Look at his face, full of joy, and I'll know what I've done. I could do what I had to do. I could do what I wanted to do.
Wow, I'm glad.
"Wow! Towgo! Hey! Hold on!
And I fainted again.
But I was well prepared and passed out, so I'm fine. Good night.
It was morning when I woke up. Morning. Apparently, I passed out in the morning and woke up the next morning.
I had a hammock ride, and I was surrounded by horses. Good morning. I always take care of you.
When I got out of the hammock, I went right back home. I wanted to make sure. I wanted to make sure it wasn't a dream...
"Oh, Togo! Morning!"
... So I was relieved to see Mr. Redgard with both eyes tight and reading the book with both hands.
"No, you, you really run out of magic all the time... I used to faint so much. I'm impressed. Normally, you can't wake up so out of clam magic, huh? The magic doesn't start before the magic runs out, does it?
"Yeah. Good. How you doing, Mr. Redgard?
His words are hard to hear. More than that, now, I wanted to know how he was doing in front of me.
When Heavenly Horse's wings were cured, the wings were moving properly, and the sky was flying...
"Mm-hmm. Perfect. Your fingers move properly, and your eyes are visible!
... Good. Looks like it went really well. Good. Really good.
"You know, Redgard."
"By the way, Togo"
When I was about to say it, Mr. Redgard gave in a little and peered into my eyes.
"Mr. Redgard, you're too old for that, Togo."
... Huh?
What do you mean, I'm in trouble... he said, with a full grin.
"Faye, it is. Between my best friends, let's nash the weird farewell! Nah!"
"... best friend?
"Hmm? You're my best friend! We dived through the dead line together! We can help each other! Then the horse that fits, fits! Then it doesn't matter who you are or what the difference in the world is! You're my best friend already!
Best friend, is it? Is that what it is? Feel good? Horses fit, too?... Yeah, well, it might fit. The difference in identity doesn't bother me that much because the difference in the world is bigger. No, I feel like it's a big deal because he's like that.
But... somehow I don't get the feeling. I wonder what it is. I don't know... Yeah, I've never had someone I could call 'best friend' before. Yeah, except for the teacher. The teacher was a friend but a teacher, and so, rather than a best friend...... yeah, something, it was different.
But we... Soon, my best friend, it seems.
"Huh? Togo. Huh?
I'm in trouble. I've never seen anyone this type before. I'm not sure what to do.
... but he looks at me with anticipation.
"... Faye?
"Whoa! That's right! Way to go!
...... yeah. Though I've tried calling it, Mr. Redgard, it's easier to call it Faye, but it's easier to pronounce it. You don't have to move your mouth much to make a sound.
Then... he starts today, Faye. My best friend... Apparently.
No, not yet there, though I don't really feel...
"So come on, let's go to my house, Togo!
"Eh."
"You can have breakfast in about an hour! Nah!"
"Huh... Huh?
"Let's get out of here! Let's go!"
Without knowing very well, if I had blurred with a fluffy head, at some point Mr. Redgard would have grabbed my hand and pulled me out.
And I can be put on the back of a fiery wolf.
... Oh, could this be.
"Then neither Unicorn nor Pegasus! I'm sorry, but I owe you a tow!... All right! Let's go!"
Redgard... not the moment Faye said that.
The fiery wolf ran out of momentum.
"Fast! You're too fast!
"Hmm? Really? Then why don't you slow down a little bit?
"I want you to!
The tremendous momentum causing the forest trees to flow backwards is a bit...... no, it's tremendous, it's scary. Besides, I was more and more scared because it's something that turns sometimes while avoiding trees, sometimes footing trees, instead of going straight.
... but when Faye signals something, the speed slows down a bit. I was relieved to run like hell. [M]
"... Oh, yeah"
In the meantime, Faye said, as he remembered, running next door.
"You, aren't you willing to be our hugging painter?
"Talk to you when you get home again! Well, think about it!
... I slowly rebelled Faye's words in my head... and noticed.
I was wondering if this was going to be outrageous.
But if you realize it or anything, the flaming wolf won't stop. "Best Friend", who also rides a wolf next to me, will not stop.
...... yeah.
I'm gonna be. Maybe.
