As the water began to lose its warmth, Damien lifted Eloise from the basin and carried her back to their bed.

Water trailed from their bodies, leaving a damp path across the floor as they moved, but neither of them paid it any attention. They were far too occupied with each other’s mouths.

Damien set Eloise down on the bed and propped himself above her, careful to keep his weight from pressing down on her. He looked down at her at the necklace still resting against her skin, at the damp strands of hair clinging to her face and framing it.

He brushed the strands from her eyes, wanting to see them clearly.

Then he lowered his head and kissed her before the warmth between them could slip away.

Eloise welcomed it without hesitation, her hands going straight to his hair and drawing him down towards her.

Their bodies pressed together, already starting to become cool now that they were out of the water, though the heat building between them was already beginning to chase the chill away. Damien’s weight settled above her without once crushing her.

His right hand found her waist, tracing the curve of it down towards her hip.

Eloise moved her hand from his hair to cup his face, her palm warm against his jaw. The kiss deepened, their tongues moving against each other, tasting and taking in equal measure.

By now, Eloise had learned to match him entirely. She didn’t shy away or find herself uncertain of what came next. It all came naturally to her now, after everything they had shared. She moved with confidence, and it was one of his favourite things about her.

She was so lost in the moment that she didn’t notice Damien’s hand beneath her thigh until her leg was already being guided around his waist.

She moved her other leg without missing a beat, wrapping them both around him.

Eloise felt his smile against her lips as he shifted, lifting her further up the bed to where they would be more stable.

Eloise knew without being told that he loved this. He loved when she acted without needing to be guided. When she simply followed because she trusted him entirely, and he knew it.

Damien was the first to pull away from the kiss, giving Eloise the chance to catch her breath.

Her chest rose and fell as she tried to calm herself. She noticed the way Damien’s gaze had dropped, his eyes moving over her with an appreciation.

"My eyes are up here," Eloise said, though the warmth spreading through her had nothing to do with embarrassment. She liked his gaze on her.

His eyes said everything his voice didn’t. How much he desired her. How thoroughly she was enough for him.

Eloise hoped her own gaze gave back the same feeling to Damien.

"You look dashing," Eloise said, wanting him to know it without having to wonder. "I am quite lucky to have such a handsome husband. One that I love."

A smile pulled at Damien’s lips. He couldn’t hold it back even if he had wanted to, because he enjoyed her lovely confession.

"I love it when you smile," Eloise continued, her thumb tracing slow circles against his cheek. "A real one. The kind you can’t hold back. You should let yourself smile more often."

"Very well," Damien said. "But only for you."

Eloise had no intention of arguing with that. She wanted it entirely for herself, greedy as that was, and she felt not a moment’s guilt about it.

Damien lowered himself to press a brief kiss to her lips before gently lowering her leg from his waist and settling himself more comfortably between her parted thighs.

He was already hard. She had left him waiting earlier, and though he had managed to get rid of his erection using his hand, it was nothing compared to this. Compared to her.

Damien entered her without hesitation, wanting to claim this moment before someone interrupted it and she slipped away from him again.

Eloise’s lips parted as the feeling she had been craving since earlier returned.

Damien pressed forward, filling her.

There was an unspoken need between them to feel each other. To be tangled and close with nothing between them.

Damien began to move, and Eloise matched him, rising to meet each slow thrust.

He kept himself propped above her with his right hand, his left resting at her waist. Guiding her, though she hardly needed it now. She already knew the rhythm of him.

The pace was slow and intimate.

Damien’s gaze never left her face. He watched every shift of expression, every time the pleasure moved through her and the way her head tipped back. The way his name broke from her lips in a soft, breathless sound.

Eloise clung to him, wanting more of him. Every last bit of him.

Her breath caught each time he pressed into her, each time he filled her and stayed there for just a moment. Long enough for the feeling to travel up to her chest.

The pleasure built slowly.

Damien gritted his teeth. She was tight around him, drawing everything from him, and it took all of his considerable restraint not to give in to the urge to take her harder and faster.

What he didn’t know was that harder and faster was precisely what she wanted.

"More," Eloise said in a soft plea, but he heard it.

He always heard her.

The pace shifted. His thrusts deepened, each one more purposeful than the last, and Eloise felt the change in every part of her.

The creak of the bed filled the chamber, mixed with the low sounds Damien made and the calls of his name from Eloise’s lips.

Her name left his lips in return.

Eloise gave herself over to him completely, every last guard gone. She was entirely and utterly his in this moment, and she didn’t try to quiet herself. She let her voice fill the chamber.

It seemed to work in her favour, because Damien thrusted forward, his fingers tightening against her thighs as he drove them both towards their climax.
