Chapter 301 - 300: Returning Early
Upon hearing this, Kong Mingsheng quickly said, "There’s no need to thank me. Alright, Yiyi, get some rest." With that, he turned and left.
Yiyi was just about to close her eyes and rest for a bit, but to her surprise, the Song couple also arrived.
"Godfather, godmother, why are you both here too?"
Song Xiaoqing, looking at Yiyi with a slight reprimand, said, "You’ve suffered such a serious injury, of course, we have to come and see you. This child of ours, experiencing such a major incident and not even telling us. If it weren’t for your godfather having a keen sense for news and hearing a bit of gossip, we still wouldn’t have known."
As she spoke, Song Xiaoqing hurriedly took Ding Yuejun’s hand and said, "Yue Jun, rest assured, we’ll have A Chi look into this matter thoroughly. I want to see who exactly is trying to harm you and your daughter."
Ding Yuejun thanked them profusely but also agreed with her daughter’s words.
"Xiaoqing, Yiyi is right. Now that you’re expecting, you need to be cautious about everything. Yiyi is really alright. You should go back early."
Song Xiaoqing, being not so young anymore, would surely be fatigued from all the traveling back and forth, which wouldn’t be good for her health.
Song Xiaoqing quickly said, "Yue Jun, I know you’re worried about me, but rest assured, I feel fine now."
Since getting pregnant, Yiyi had given her another kind of medicine pill, which she took regularly. It made her feel refreshed, so even though she wasn’t young, being pregnant didn’t tire her like it did the young ones. She was genuinely grateful to Yiyi from the bottom of her heart.
Now, hearing that Yiyi had a close brush with death, she naturally rushed over in worry.
Song Chi, standing by, also said, "Yue Jun, don’t worry. Xiaoqing’s situation has been very good recently, but Yiyi’s situation is more pressing, so we naturally have to come and take a look. However, what exactly happened here?"
Ding Yuejun had already harbored deep hatred for the person behind the scenes. If the Song Family could help in the investigation, she thought it would be great. She then recounted the entire story in detail, concluding, "It’s my fault that they got dragged into this. Those people were after me. If it weren’t for me, Yiyi wouldn’t have gotten hurt, and Xiao Wu wouldn’t still be in danger."
By the end, her face was full of guilt and sorrow.
Song Xiaoqing hurriedly comforted her, "Yue Jun, this is not your fault; the blame lies with those people."
Meanwhile, Song Chi quietly observed Ding Yuejun, finding it odd somehow.
She was just an ordinary middle-aged woman, so what were those people after exactly? The only thing different about her from other ordinary women was her exceptionally youthful appearance.
Besides this, he really couldn’t find anything else peculiar about Ding Yuejun.
Unable to make sense of it, he didn’t dwell on it, quietly noting down everything Ding Yuejun said, planning to investigate thoroughly later.
Yiyi was quite happy to see the Song couple there, but considering Song Xiaoqing was pregnant, she urged, "Godmother, you should hurry back to rest. I’m in decent shape now, it’s just a few broken ribs. I just need some time to heal, so you really don’t need to worry."
Hearing this, Song Xiaoqing glared at her, both annoyed and amused, "Just a few broken ribs, you say it so easily. It’s going to take quite some time to properly heal."
She was also reminded of Yiyi’s engagement.
"Yiyi, since you’re injured now, it seems the engagement will have to be postponed."
Ding Yuejun nodded in agreement, "We will discuss it with the Gu Family when the time comes."
After the Song couple left, Yiyi closed her eyes for a short while. However, she couldn’t sleep deeply as her mind was preoccupied with Pei Wu. Upon hearing the door open, she immediately perked up.
"Master, how is Xiao Wu?"
Seeing Kong Mingsheng return, Ding Yuejun also looked at him with a tense expression, eager to know if Pei Wu was still savable.
Though tired, there was a hint of a smile in Kong Mingsheng’s eyes. He nodded towards Yiyi and said, "Don’t worry, the young man is out of danger and has been moved to a regular ward."
Hearing this, Ding Yuejun heaved a long sigh of relief, bowing to Kong Mingsheng, "Master Kong, thank you so much for saving Xiao Wu."
Yiyi also let out a big sigh of relief, smiling at Kong Mingsheng, "Master, you’re really amazing. Without you, who knows if Xiao Wu could have escaped the danger."
Hearing this from his little apprentice, Kong Mingsheng gave her a sidelong glance and said, "Alright, stop with the flattery. What’s most important is for you to focus on recuperating."
Seeing that Kong Mingsheng was indeed a bit tired, Yiyi didn’t say much more and instead urged him to go rest, reminding him, "Master, remember to take those medicine pills I gave you last time, don’t over-exhaust yourself."
"I know, you take good care and rest, I’ll head back first."
The medicine pills his little apprentice had given him last time were indeed great. The herbs were all rare treasures, and if he wasn’t mistaken, a few of the main ingredients were several hundred years old.
But since his little apprentice hadn’t mentioned where the herbs came from, he naturally didn’t ask. Being a gift from his apprentice, he accepted them with a smile.
Initially, he was reluctant to use them, but since his little apprentice urged him today, he planned to take a couple once he got back.
Guo Ming greatly admired Kong Mingsheng, and so he personally escorted him out to the hospital entrance before returning. However, considering the need to thoroughly investigate today’s events, he left Pei Jin behind and then departed.
"Yiyi, you take a nap first, I’ll go get us some food."
Seeing that it was getting late, Ding Yuejun went straight to the cafeteria to get some food. When she returned with the meals, she set up a small table for Yiyi, arranging the dishes, and then went to Pei Wu’s ward to check on him, though he hadn’t yet awakened.
After her mother left, Yiyi slowly started eating. Once she finished, Ding Yuejun returned just in time.
"Mom, has Xiao Wu not woken up yet?"
Ding Yuejun sighed upon hearing this and said, "No, not yet. But the doctor said his condition is much better than before, so we shouldn’t worry."
Hearing this, Yiyi hurriedly said, "Mom, you shouldn’t worry too much then. Even Master said Xiao Wu is fine, so surely, nothing bad will happen to him."
This incident with Pei Wu instilled a sense of guilt in her mother, and Yiyi could only offer her some comfort, hoping she would gradually come out of it.
"Yiyi..."
Just as the mother and daughter were discussing Pei Wu, a tense voice came from the door.
Yiyi turned to see that it was Gu Tingyu.
"Gu Tingyu, why are you here?"
Seeing Yiyi’s pale complexion, Gu Tingyu quickly approached, his face full of concern as he asked, "How are you? Is your injury serious? Are you okay?"
"Don’t worry, I’m quite alright. My injuries will heal with some rest."
Yet, Gu Tingyu was still uneasy, wanting to look at Yiyi’s medical report.
Yiyi couldn’t help but chuckle, "Do you think I could lie to you? You haven’t even said why you came. Aren’t you supposed to return in a few days?"
