Chapter 729 - 679: I, Qin Fan, Never Resort to Idle Talk! (5)
It was well past midnight. Wawu Mountain, a renowned tourist sanctuary in Chuanshu, had long since fallen silent. Aside from a few scattered lights, there was no sign of the bustling crowds that filled the area during the day.
Under the cover of darkness, over a dozen cars converged on the entrance to Wawu Mountain from all directions. Qin Fan, having arrived earlier, had already cast an Enchanting Soul Array. As a result, the mountain was eerily silent; not even the arrival of so many vehicles caused the slightest stir. The staff on duty seemed to be in a daze, completely oblivious. Even the surveillance cameras, under the influence of the Enchanting Soul Array, recorded nothing but a screen full of white static.

The doors of over a dozen cars opened in unison. Including Amber, fifty-three people turned to Qin Fan and shouted respectfully, "Master!"
"Follow me," Qin Fan said calmly.
With a wave of his hand, the electronic gate at the entrance to Wawu Mountain swung open on its own. The large group filed inside in a grand procession. The guards under the lights seemed completely oblivious to the scene, their heads lolling about dazedly as if simply passing the time.
Seeing this bizarre occurrence, the fifty-plus people knew without a doubt that it was their master’s work. Instantly, their reverence for Qin Fan grew even deeper. As they stared at his back, their eyes held a new, indescribable intensity.
They walked past the normal tourist paths and crossed the barrier marked with a ’Restricted Area’ sign. Leading the other fifty-two, Qin Fan took the path toward the Bewitching Ravine. With him leading the way, the group seemed to feel no fear, even as they entered the ravine and its deeply unsettling, eerie atmosphere. After all, what was there to fear for a group of people who had already accepted death? Fear was a long-forgotten emotion.
However, having been away from the Bewitching Ravine for some time, Qin Fan couldn’t help but reveal a wry smile when he saw the Poison Grass Forest had been restored to its original state.
"Medicine Valley, you really shouldn’t have," he muttered.
He then pulled out a handful of True Fire Talismans and tossed them forward. The moment the talismans made contact with the Poison Grass Forest, a Fire Dragon erupted into existence.
The spectacle left all fifty-three of them, including Amber, completely stunned.
But Qin Fan didn’t wait for them to recover from their shock. "Follow me," he said calmly, and stepped onto the path being cleared by the Fire Dragon.
「Meanwhile, in Medicine Valley.」
Ever since receiving Qin Fan’s call announcing his arrival tonight, Yao Junxian and the core members of Medicine Valley had been waiting without sleep for the dreaded visit. When their perimeter surveillance monitors showed the Poisonous Miasma Forest being engulfed by a Fire Dragon, they couldn’t help but cry out in anguish, "How cruel! This is utter cruelty!"
It truly was. After the last Fire Dragon summoned by Qin Fan had devastated the area, Medicine Valley had expended considerable effort to restore the forest. How long had it been, and now they were suffering another Fire Dragon Tribulation? If this wasn’t cruelty, what was?
But for all their heartache, they could only grit their teeth and swallow their bitterness. They were facing Qin Fan, a man against whom even their five Valley Guardian Elders were powerless. Watching the figure leading the group on the screen, they seethed, wishing they could erase him on the spot. But that was nothing more than a fantasy. If they could have, they would have eliminated him months ago and wouldn’t have lost the Spiritual Medicine Garden as well.
"Valley Master Yao, aren’t you going to come out and greet your guest? Don’t tell me this is how Medicine Valley shows its hospitality. That would be rather petty, wouldn’t it? Haha!"
Leading his group unimpeded through the Poisonous Miasma Forest, Qin Fan gazed upon the scenic landscape of Medicine Valley proper. He infused his voice with True Qi, and his hearty laughter echoed through the air.
"Damned bastard!" Yao Junxian hissed through clenched teeth.
He shot up from his chair. "Let’s go! We’ll go out and ’welcome’ this bastard!"
With that hateful declaration, he spun around and strode out. Behind him, the helpless elders and core members followed with heavy sighs.
Moving as fast as shooting stars, Yao Junxian and the others appeared before Qin Fan’s group just moments after he had spoken.
"Haha, Divine Envoy, I trust you’ve been well! It’s been too long. I’ve missed you dearly!" Yao Junxian exclaimed, his earlier indignation replaced by a hearty laugh the moment their eyes met.
Divine Envoy? What is a Divine Envoy? Does Master represent some other power?
Hearing Yao Junxian’s form of address, not only the fifty-two men and women but even Amber was confused. But while they pondered this, none of them dared to ask. They simply followed closely behind Qin Fan, their faces impassive and their mouths shut.
"Valley Master Yao, have you truly missed me?" Qin Fan asked, his words mercilessly piercing through the man’s paper-thin sincerity.
Hearing Qin Fan’s mocking reply, Yao Junxian froze, his expression stiffening.
Inside, a herd of ten thousand Divine Beasts stampeded through his mind, roaring. Miss you? Miss you, my ass! You know it’s just a pleasantry, so why do you have to call me on it and embarrass me? Miss you? I wish I could wipe out your entire group right here, right now!
But Yao Junxian could only suppress these thoughts. After a moment of stunned silence, he forced an obsequious smile as they drew closer. "Of course, Divine Envoy! Your esteemed presence brings light to our humble Medicine Valley! If nothing else, your visit allows us to relax our guard against that scoundrel Miao Yingjie of the Gu Clan!"
Qin Fan just chuckled and shook his head at the first half of that utterly hypocritical speech. Then he said, "Valley Master Yao, rest assured. Since I have accepted your favor, Medicine Valley no longer needs to worry about the Gu Clan. If he dares to make a move and covet what is yours, I will personally uproot the entire Gu Clan!"
"Divine Envoy, are you serious?" Yao Junxian and his contingent stared with wide eyes, exclaiming in unison.
"Of course. I, Qin Fan, am not one to make idle promises," Qin Fan declared.
"But Divine Envoy, wasn’t it you who propped up Miao Yingjie in the first place?" Yao Junxian blurted out without thinking.
"And what contradiction is there between that and my wanting to destroy him?" Qin Fan shot back with a wild laugh.
"Thank you, Divine Envoy!"
After three seconds of stunned silence, Yao Junxian’s expression became feverish with excitement. Before Qin Fan could respond, he rushed to add, "Divine Envoy, you’ve all traveled a long way. Why not rest for the night and enter the Spiritual Medicine Garden tomorrow? It would be a perfect opportunity for me to share a drink with you. Would you grant me the honor?"
They say life is like rape; if you can’t fight back, you might as well try to enjoy it. At this point, Yao Junxian knew the outcome was set in stone. He pushed aside all pointless thoughts and decided to resignedly take the opportunity to get closer to Qin Fan. After all, though he hated the man’s guts, he couldn’t deny the unconscious awe he felt for Qin Fan’s heaven-defying strength.
"Let’s not. Perhaps another time. There’s no need to trouble yourselves with hosting us during this visit. Let’s not waste any more time. I will take my people directly to the Spiritual Medicine Garden. Valley Master Yao, will you lead the way, or should I find it myself?" Qin Fan replied with a faint smile, gently shaking his head.
Faced with Qin Fan’s dismissive attitude, the thwarted Yao Junxian felt like he wanted to curse. Sighing to himself in resignation, he said, "If that is your wish, Divine Envoy, then we shall do as you say. Next time it is! This way, please. All who come are guests, so allow me to lead!"
With that, he suppressed the bile rising in his chest, brushed down his clothes, and made a slight bow with a welcoming gesture.
