Chapter 699 - 550: Shut Him Up! (4)_5
"That makes sense! Come, Mr. Qin, let me pour you a drink. A toast to you! And another to my own wisdom. If I hadn’t sided with you immediately back at the Qi Middle School restaurant, who knows what kind of mess you would have made of me! Haha!" Ma Yunbin laughed carelessly as he stood up, picked up the wine jug, and bowed to pour Qin Fan a cup of Daughter’s Red.
Smiling without a word, Qin Fan nodded. He raised his glass slightly, then tipped his head back and drank it all in one gulp.
Time gradually passed as the three of them laughed and chatted.
The broker kneeling on the ground grew increasingly panicked. Despite the warmth of the Ye Family’s side hall, his entire body was drenched in cold sweat.
Will my fate be darkness, or will I escape? He had no way of knowing. At that moment, he felt as if he had fallen into a black hole filled with terror.
「In an Audi Q5 speeding along the Ring Road.」
"Who are you people?! Let me go! My dad is He Changkong, the President of the Lingnan Chamber of Commerce! What do you want? What the hell do you want?!" He Xinyi screamed frantically, his pale face a mask of pure terror.
At the terminal, he had just collected his plane ticket and was about to enter the boarding lounge when this group of people suddenly abducted him. More importantly, as he screamed for help, not a single airport security guard or staff member stepped forward. They simply let his abductors forcefully drag him away.
He Xinyi wasn’t a fool. He knew this wasn’t negligence on the part of the airport staff but rather a force so powerful that it intimidated the airport authorities into not intervening.
Has my secret been exposed? No, that’s impossible! My plan was nearly foolproof. How could it have been discovered?!
And yet, while a voice in his head insisted it was impossible, his guilty conscience made him tremble uncontrollably. To him, the Audi Q5 now seemed less like a car and more like a train on a one-way trip to Hell.
"He Changkong?" a young man sitting beside He Xinyi sneered. "Of course we know you’re the son of that pickpocket. Your old man might be influential, but that depends on who he’s dealing with. In our eyes, he’s just a piece of trash who stole the hard-earned money of migrant workers at the train station.
"This goddamn world is blind, letting scum like that rise up and become the president of the Lingnan Chamber of Commerce. Fuck!"
"Fuck you! You’re the thief! Your whole family are thieves!" He Xinyi shrieked like a madman upon hearing his father’s past being exposed.
Train station, pickpocket, thief. These words had always been taboo in the He family, an indelible stain on He Changkong’s entire life. As such, they were a sore spot not only for He Changkong but for his sons as well. It was as if their most shameful secret had been laid bare for all to see.
SLAP!
Amidst He Xinyi’s frantic shouting, the young man slapped him hard across the face.
Before he could speak again, the man in the front passenger seat said coldly, "That’s enough. Cut the crap. This idiot doesn’t have much longer to live, so don’t waste your breath on him."
The young man scoffed and turned away, ignoring He Xinyi.
But those words sent He Xinyi’s mind into a tailspin. Not much longer to live? Are they going to kill me? No! No, no!
His mind, previously blank, was now a maelstrom of chaos. "Where are you taking me?!" he screamed incoherently. "No, let me go! I’ll give you money! Whatever they’re paying you, I’ll double it! No, triple it! Quadruple it! Let me go! Just let me go!"
"Shut him up," the man in the passenger seat ordered, his voice laced with annoyance.
"You got it!" the young man beside He Xinyi chirped. He immediately pulled a towel from the seat-back pocket in front of him and viciously shoved it into He Xinyi’s mouth.
The shouting stopped instantly, replaced by endless, muffled struggles. He Xinyi’s eyes were completely consumed by despair and terror.
PS: More to come.
