Chapter 769 - 718: Since You’ve Courted Death, Accept Your Fate! (2)
Yes, they dared to come. They had never considered the taboos or scruples. The Forbidden City viewed Qin Fan as a thorn in their side, a fact they had all heard whispers of within their families. And now, even after learning their target was Qin Fan, they still strode onto the Great Wall without a moment’s hesitation. This alone revealed everything about their character.
If you weren’t wild and unrestrained, you weren’t a true scion. Four-nine City didn’t just breed unruly scions; it bred mavericks who refused to be shackled by rules. This had already been proven by Ma Yunbin. Growing up in the same circle, these personality traits were often common to them all.
Nearby, Chen Shan, who had just been subjected to the most intense physical and mental torment at Qin Fan’s hands, watched this scene of complete deference unfold. He suddenly felt as if all his strength had been drained, and he collapsed on the ground like a limp pile of mud. His resolute face, devoid of color, coupled with his suddenly vacant eyes, spelled out nothing but despair.
Grandmaster Qin! To make the scions of Four-nine City display such a humble demeanor... who else could it be but that young Grandmaster, now famous throughout all of Huaxia? I hadn’t just heard of Qin Fan’s great name; it resounded in my ears like thunder! Although the information I could access was merely the tip of the iceberg, the sense of dread it created was clearly beyond what someone of my station could ever hope to confront! He brazenly entered the Jinling Mansion at midnight and slaughtered the renowned Bo Xianmin’s entire family! Utterly lawless, he threw Bo Xianmin’s son from the ninth floor, wildly proclaiming death to anyone in the mansion who dared to cross him! These deeds didn’t just circulate within the circles of Jinling; they became the talk of the town across all of Huaxia. Was there anyone with any sort of connection or status who didn’t know the name of this meteoric madman?
After learning of Qin Fan’s deeds back then, I’d even had my subordinates find a photo of the man for me to memorize, just so I could avoid provoking this scourge one day! The irony was that the photo had arrived on a day I was stuck in a meeting. I never got a chance to look at it before my men put it in a drawer, where it was forgotten until this very moment. But now, it was too late! Far too late! It was as if time and fate had converged. My own luck had finally run out, and this calamity was now unavoidable! How laughable. Not long ago, I had boasted about crippling Qin Fan’s limbs. Crippling Qin Fan! Even the Forbidden City was powerless against him, yet I had been foolish enough to court disaster on such a grand scale!
At this moment, Chen Shan accepted his fate.
After all, Qin Fan’s viciousness and brutality were infamous. Caught in a situation like this, could I even hope for mercy? The possibility was so faint I didn’t dare entertain the thought.
"I didn’t expect Old Ma to have actually called you over. How interesting," Qin Fan said with a meaningful laugh, facing the humble submission of these top-tier scions.
From Ma Yunhai’s appearance, he could easily guess the current situation within the Forbidden City.
It seems those old men have finally chickened out.
"Hehe, Mr. Qin, I was puzzled myself! Before, when I wanted to witness your true glory, he wouldn’t let me anywhere near you. But now? He called me back himself and told me to get moving to solve your problems, to save you the time and effort! It looks like the Forbidden City’s attitude has warmed up! Mr. Qin, that move of yours was just brilliant! If you really made them bow their heads, then in all of Huaxia’s vast Royal Territory, you’re undoubtedly the first!" Ma Yunhai sighed with sincere admiration, shamelessly laying on the flattery.
Qin Fan remained noncommittal, but he couldn’t help but feel a certain appreciation for Ma Yunhai’s political acumen.
Truly, the children raised in the environment of Four-nine City, no matter how unremarkable they seemed, possessed far too many exceptional qualities compared to ordinary people. A single phone call from Ma Yunbin was enough for this man to keenly sniff out the changing winds from the Forbidden City. Even though I’m not certain of their exact attitude myself, Ma Yunhai’s ability to reveal his analysis so casually is something no ordinary person could match. In fact, the sensitivity of his political nose is likely superior to that of the leader of an entire city or even a province!
Seeing that Qin Fan wasn’t responding to the flattery, Ma Yunhai offered a sycophantic smile and continued, "Mr. Qin, why don’t you go take a break? Leave the rest to us. There’s no need for you to waste your energy on these small fry here in Beijing. Let us take care of it for you!"
"Alright. Come find me when you’re done. We’ll get some dinner later," Qin Fan nodded with a slight smile.
With that, he turned and walked away with a casual air. Countless gazes, a mixture of fear and reverence, focused on his back. Yet, he continued on with a calm smile, seemingly oblivious to them all, his eyes seemingly fixed on nothing but the majestic and magnificent scenery of the Great Wall spreading out before him.
As Qin Fan departed, Chen Shan, still collapsed on the ground, felt not an ounce of relief. On the contrary, the ominous feeling of despair only intensified. Shifting his mud-like body, he propped himself up on trembling arms and slowly pushed himself into a kneeling position before Ma Yunhai and the others.
"Young... Young Master Ma! Young Master Wang, Young Master Su, Young Master Zhou, Young Master Tong, Young Master Fan, Young Master Huo!" he croaked intermittently.
Before Ma Yunhai could speak, one of the scions shook his head and sneered, "Chen Dog, you pathetic mutt! After all the ass-kissing and tail-wagging you did to get where you are today, do you still not have a single fucking clue?"
"Damn right. Look at this arrogant asshole getting more and more full of himself. Even if Mr. Qin hadn’t shown up today, he wouldn’t have lasted much longer in Four-nine City!" another young master spat disdainfully.
"I fucking wanted to smash his piece-of-shit Bentley last time! I only held back because Young Master Ma said it wasn’t necessary. Always wagging his tail for those posers from the Eastern Factory... it’s fucking sickening to watch. Shit!"
"Young Master Ma, what should we do with this idiot?"
They didn’t resort to violence against Chen Shan. For scions of their level, getting physical was rare unless they were truly enraged. In their own words, it was too much effort and simply not worth it.
"Young Master Ma, spare me! Just this once, please! I’m begging you!" Chen Shan completely ignored the mocking and contemptuous words. When he saw Ma Yunhai frown, a tiny glimmer of hope ignited within him.
After all, Ma Yunhai has protected me on numerous occasions. There’s even a rumor in Four-nine City that if Chen Dog has a master he truly serves from the bottom of his heart, it’s definitely Ma Yunhai! As such, Ma Yunhai is now my last and only lifeline!
As he spoke, he began to kowtow heavily, slamming his forehead against the ground in front of Ma Yunhai.
"The heavens will rain, and a widow will remarry. Some things are simply inevitable, Chen Dog. Since you’ve courted death, you should just accept your fate." Ma Yunhai took out his phone and nonchalantly began dialing a number.
As Chen Shan felt as though he’d been struck by lightning, the call connected.
"Young Master Ma, what’s the situation?" a voice asked from the other end.
"Immediately wipe out all of Chen Dog’s forces," Ma Yunhai commanded, his voice cold. "Seize all their properties, submit the evidence to the Supreme Procuratorate, and freeze all his assets. In short, find the deepest pit in Hell and kick him into it."
