Chapter 1256: Depart to Purple Lotus City
Three days had passed since Shen Yuan and Aldrian’s meeting. The situation had also changed as the search groups for the assassins began spreading to the cities closest to Su City, especially Larne City.
Aldrian, who was still staying in Su City, continued observing the situation while waiting for the planned time to depart for Purple Lotus City. Because of that, he had already become aware of what was happening among Avergis’ followers.
After investigating Shen Yuan’s conclusion, Icorus found no problems with it, and they decided to depart for Larne City with their group. Shen Yuan also accompanied them as a helper.
Breuze, who was staying at the temple in Su City, finally received the guidance he had been waiting for. A new group of cultivators from the Higher Heavens arrived, and this time there were more than a hundred and fifty of them. Two of them possessed the same cultivation level as Breuze.
Their task was still the same as Breuze’s group, which was to track Aldrian’s whereabouts. As for the problem involving the assassins, Avergis left it to Breuze and his group.
Avergis seemed to realize that the assassins might become a huge problem, but he still did not realize that the assassins belonged to the group of the man he was searching for. That meant Aldrian’s trick was working even on Avergis, as he likely believed that the assassins also had some connection to Tarius.
However, with each new domain Aldrian created, he knew that Avergis’ belief that he had already arrived in the Second Heaven was growing stronger. Aldrian understood that this was probably why Avergis continued sending new groups with increasingly powerful cultivators to search for him.
But Aldrian was not worried about them. Avergis could send as many followers as he wanted, no matter how powerful they were. As long as the Heavenly Laws of the Second Heaven remained unchanged and could not accommodate higher cultivation realms, Avergis would only be sending his followers to their deaths.
Forget about him, even many of his followers in the First Heaven already craved battle and bloodshed, and each of them could deal with many of the invaders’ followers at the same time. All of them were veterans of the Great War against the invaders, and each was a genius in their own field.
If given the chance, they would unleash hell upon any invaders, whether they were gods or not.
With their strength, the invaders would need to pay a tremendous price just to kill even one of them.
Just like during the Great War in the past, when countless universes had to unite to attack this universe, even after so long and despite all their efforts, they still could not completely subdue it. That alone showed how powerful the geniuses of this universe were.
As Aldrian continued waiting for a few more days inside the inn, the time for his departure finally arrived. He received report from Shen Yuan that he could depart for Purple Lotus City.
They would depart without Shen Yuan, as he still needed to assist Breuze’s group in searching for the assassins. Shen Yuan would continue distracting some of Avergis’ followers and keeping them confused.
Aldrian had already gathered with the twins inside his room, all of them wearing robes that concealed their features. Aldrian called for Pei Lang, and when the boy arrived before him, Aldrian smiled.
"Pei Lang, we will be leaving. Take care of yourself while I’m gone," he said.
Pei Lang’s eyes watered, but he held back his tears. He nodded, and Aldrian ruffled his hair.
"Don’t be sad. This is only temporary. We will meet again. I still have my promise to make you stronger, right?" Aldrian said.
Pei Lang showed a faint smile and nodded.
"Yes, Mister."
Aldrian nodded.
"Now that’s much better."
He lifted his hand.
"See you again, Pei Lang," Aldrian said one last time before he and the twins disappeared.
Pei Lang stared at the empty space for a moment before releasing a sigh. Now he was alone again.
During the past week, although he had spent most of his time inside his room, he had someone by his side whom he could depend on.
He did not feel lonely.
But now, that loneliness had returned, just like after his parents died. He had lived alone, and there was no one he could rely on.
’At least I can stay in this nice place until Mister comes back,’ Pei Lang thought.
He released another sigh before his expression gradually became more spirited.
’Let’s use the time while waiting for Mister to come back to grow stronger. I cannot disappoint him after he has already given so much to me.’
Aldrian had already given him many energy stones, and he could use them to cultivate.
Pei Lang then returned to his room.
-----------------------------
Aldrian and the twins were already at one of the plazas in the city. This place was where the people of this city and other cities could travel without having to spend too much time on the journey.
The teleportation gates, the most advanced and effective method of traveling across the Second Heaven.
There were tens of gates spread throughout the plaza, and Aldrian could simply choose any of them. The system here was far more advanced than in the First Heaven.
There was only one teleportation gate of this kind in the entire First Heaven, the gate that connected the Ancient Blue Gate World to the Central Region of Heaven. Yet in the Second Heaven, they had become a common sight.
Even the versions in the Second Heaven were much more sophisticated. Those who wished to use the gates only needed to pay the required fee and tell the staff guarding the gates their destination. The staff would then give them a token containing the coordinates of that destination.
They only needed to enter the gate, and they would arrive at their destination. All of this happened simultaneously while many other people entered the same gate with completely different destinations.
That meant a single gate could connect to many places at the same time.
Aldrian and the twins easily passed the inspection, which had become stricter since the assassination incident. There were also some cultivators from the Higher Heavens observing the area.
However, Aldrian and the twins ignored them and simply followed the normal procedure before stepping onto one of the gates.
The moment he stepped into it, Aldrian felt a slight sensation of distorted space before emerging on the other side in a completely different city. He had arrived in Purple Lotus City.
The twins followed behind him. They then handed their tokens to the staff members waiting nearby. After giving the tokens, they left the teleportation gate area and observed the city before them.
There was not much difference compared to Su City. The only noticeable difference was the number of towering buildings here. They could also see a mountain range on the horizon, and it was said that the Purple Lotus Sect was located there.
’Shen Yuan said that we need to go to the Gardam Family Merchant Headquarters. I only need to show our token to the receptionist named Ronald, and he will bring us to a woman named Emilia. She will be the one who will guide us during our stay here,’ Aldrian thought.
Zervan had already asked a passerby for the location of the Gardam Family Merchant Headquarters, and they quickly made their way there. They did not rush, as they also wanted to observe the city’s situation and experience its atmosphere.
Unlike Su City, where they had only seen humans, they could see various races walking back and forth here. There were dwarves, spirits, and spiritual beasts in human form, but they had yet to see an elf.
After walking for a while, they finally arrived at their destination. In front of them stood a tall and imposing building owned by one of the most influential merchant families in the Purple Lotus Domain, the Gardam Family.
They entered the bustling building, where countless people were coming and going. Inside, they could see many receptionists in the distance. After asking one of the staff members about a receptionist named Ronald, they finally learned where to find him.
He was stationed on one of the higher floors.
After Aldrian and the twins arrived on the floor where Ronald worked, they noticed that there were far fewer people here compared to the ground floor. That made sense, as this area was for those willing to spend amounts of wealth that usually only nobles could afford.
They finally found the receptionist they were looking for, and when they arrived at Ronald’s reception desk, he greeted them with a smile.
"Welcome to the fortieth floor of the Gardam Family Merchant Headquarters. How may I help you?" he said.
"Yes, we need your help with this..." Aldrian said while showing a token beneath his robe. He made sure that no one other than Ronald could see it.
Ronald’s eyes widened when he saw the token, and he quickly glanced to his left and right before smiling.
"Ah, I see. You are our VIP guests. Allow me to guide you to a higher floor. Your Excellencies can wait more comfortably there."
With slightly hurried steps, he guided Aldrian and the twins toward the higher floors. They used a lifter and eventually reached the highest floor, the fiftieth floor.
After arriving, Aldrian saw a long and luxurious hallway lined with expensive displays on both sides. He could also see a large pair of doors at the far end of the hallway.
Ronald led them to the doors, and once they arrived, he knocked.
"Madam, the Highest Star has arrived."
