Chapter 1262: Division of Tasks
Aldrian was given a rather large mansion in the eastern part of the city. It was still located quite far from the underground walls, yet fairly close to the center of the city.
The mansion was built in an eastern style, with several pavilions spread throughout the grounds, giving the entire place a serene atmosphere. It was also quite secluded from the other districts, providing a good amount of privacy.
However, when Aldrian entered the mansion and was brought around to inspect it, something caught his attention. There were signs that the mansion was still new. It was as if it had only been built not long ago.
"Was this mansion just built? I can sense that the age of the building and the condition of the furniture are both practically brand new," Aldrian asked Elard, who had personally become his guide for the new mansion.
Elard smiled and turned to look at Aldrian as they walked.
"Yes, Your Majesty. Since we saw the signs that you might ascend at any time, we decided to build a special mansion for you in each of our underground cities. This was done in preparation for the day when Your Majesty might meet one of our members and wish to stay within one of the underground cities."
Aldrian sighed.
"To think that all of you would go this far. But I do not think you need to do this when all of your resources could be used for much better causes."
"We only wish to provide the best treatment for Your Majesty. We are not burdened by it, Your Majesty. Creating a mansion in each of the underground cities is not a difficult task for us. We gladly do this for you to show our support and loyalty to you," Elard said.
Aldrian could not help but smile.
"Then thank you for all of your dedication."
Elard maintained his smile.
"It is our pleasure."
After being shown around the entire mansion, Aldrian chose to sit in one of the pavilions and enjoy the beautiful scenery around him.
Elard and Ronald excused themselves and left Aldrian alone, while the twins disappeared and guarded him in their own way. Aldrian simply sat there, looking at the pond filled with fish. Not long afterward, he heard an announcement that echoed throughout the entire city.
"The sun has risen. The sun has risen. The sun has risen."
Hearing that, Aldrian sighed. He could not help but feel saddened. From what Elard had told him, that announcement was the only way for the people of the underground city to know whether it was day or night on the surface.
Imagining that the people living here could only learn the time of the outside world through an announcement was truly pitiful. Although they could occasionally go to the surface, such a life was still pitiful.
How could his people live like this?
This is infuriating!
’Be patient. The time when you can live freely on the surface with your own faith is not far away.’
Aldrian then decided to take a closer look at life in the city. This time, he would do so without a carriage. He wanted to experience it with his own body.
Using his disguise technique, he teleported to a nearby road where he could sense many people beginning their daily activities. He saw some people opening their street stalls and the bustling activity of the marketplace.
Most of the essential goods sold here were still supplied from the surface, such as food resources, alchemy ingredients, and blacksmithing materials. There was no way the people here could cultivate many of these resources themselves.
Besides the environmental limitations, the available space was simply too limited.
To support more than two million people here, they required a massive amount of supplies. Such large-scale transportation would surely attract attention if the resistance groups did not act carefully.
However, thanks to the members of the resistance groups who occupied many positions across the Second Heaven, that problem could be solved easily. The supplies could be provided by their respective organizations without anyone connected to Avergis or those invaders knowing about it.
Aldrian watched the interactions between the people around him. From the men bringing their goods to sell to other merchants, to the two women gossiping about various topics. A few children were playing among themselves, while countless other activities showed just how amicable the relationships between the people here were.
It warmed Aldrian’s heart. Although they lived in this kind of environment, they still showed optimism and lived as though residing in this place did not matter.
Aldrian continued strolling through the city, observing its people until he felt satisfied and decided to return to the mansion.
He simply felt that he needed to speed up what he planned to do before the war began.
He returned to the pavilion from earlier and stood there for a few moments.
Suddenly, two figures formed from his energy took shape behind him. The two became his avatars.
Aldrian turned to look at his new avatars. With this, he now had four avatars.
Since reaching the Immortal Realm, the number of avatars he could create had increased to four. He continued maintaining two avatars to handle his duties in the First Heaven, while he had not found any reason to create the remaining two.
But now, he needed them to make everything easier and faster here.
"You will go to the central region of heaven and investigate the situation there," Aldrian said to the avatar on his right.
"And you will visit the Rimevas Family’s domain. You know what I have in mind for that place," Aldrian said to the other one.
Both avatars remained silent, but they already understood what they needed to do without Aldrian having to explain further. They then used disguise techniques, changing their appearances.
Aldrian then called Ronald, who was also staying with him in the mansion, and asked him to help bring the two avatars to the places he had assigned to them.
Ronald did not know where these two new figures had come from, but he did not care. As long as Aldrian asked him to do something, he would do it.
However, there was a problem with one of the places Aldrian wanted him to help them reach.
"Your Majesty, we can certainly help send one of them to the Remivas Family’s domain, and I understand that the Remivas Family is part of our plans, but..." Ronald paused slightly.
"As for the central region of heaven, I do not think we can approach it at all. As Your Majesty knows, we do not have control over the central region of heaven or the domains surrounding it. If we want to bring someone there, we must prepare for the possibility of being discovered by Avergis’ followers."
Aldrian smiled.
"Sorry, I meant that you only need to drop him off in one of the domains closest to the central region of heaven. Give him any useful information you have, and he can handle the rest himself. He alone is enough to accomplish the task I have given him."
Ronald was stunned and looked at the avatar tasked with investigating the central region of heaven. He had his own thoughts regarding this matter, as it would be a dangerous journey for this man.
If something happened to him, it might attract the attention of Avergis’ followers near the central region of heaven. The moment that happened, Avergis’ followers might turn their attention toward the resistance groups.
Yet Aldrian appeared completely confident in this man, whose identity Ronald still did not know. Although he had many questions, he chose not to ask them and instead decided to trust Aldrian.
He knew there was no way the Great Emperor would endanger their future plans. Furthermore, if the Great Emperor believed in this man, then he would believe in him as well. The Great Emperor would never allow someone weak or unreliable to undertake such a dangerous task.
"Alright, Your Majesty. I will make the arrangements," Ronald answered.
Later, after Ronald coordinated with some of the resistance group members who could assist with this matter, two carriages were prepared for the two avatars to depart.
One was headed toward the Remivas Family’s domain, while the other was bound for one of the domains closest to the central region of heaven.
Aldrian remained in the underground city and observed the situation for the time being.
The two carriages left the underground city through the same route Aldrian had used to enter. They also emerged onto the surface at the same location where the entrance located.
From there, the two carriages took different paths. Their destinations were different teleportation gates within Purple Lotus City. To reach their respective destinations, they would have to pass through many domains.
Even to reach the Remivas Family’s domain, they needed to travel across the region, as the family was located in the western region.
As for the avatar heading toward the central region of heaven, the closest approach was from the northern side.
At first, their journey did not encounter any problems, as the resistance groups had already prepared the route for them.
However, the avatar heading toward the central region of heaven would eventually encounter an obstacle.
