The SSS-rank Guide Doesn't Need Saving

Chapter 7: Manifesting Her Spiritual Beast

A guide’s power output is determined by their biological core, but their survival and efficiency rely entirely on mental strength.

That was what the Book of Guiding said.

Aisha had a bit of difficulty wrapping her head around the entire guiding and sentinel concept of this world.

She reached out with her finger, channeling what she thinks is what a guide should do at this moment.

Fortunately, it wasn’t too hard to do it.

From within her body, a warm and tranquil sensation started to flow. The book said that a guide’s power output is biological. That meant the energy was already inside her, circulating through her like oxygen. She didn’t need to create it. She just needed to let it leak out.

She closed her eyes, feeling a little nervous because this was her first time trying it. Shutting the world around her, she focused on producing the same ability every guide should have. One that this body should be able to remember.

Inside her mind, a giant dam filled with pure, sparkling water appeared. There was no beginning or end to this dam, just like an ocean.

Filled with amazement by what she had just seen, Aisha tried to coax it to her fingertips.

I just need to sign it, she thought. That shouldn’t be hard, right?

But Aisha completely underestimated the sheer volume of her latent energy. She didn’t even think of controlling it in the first place.

Since Aisha Novalis was a D-rank guide with a low purification rate, her guiding ability shouldn’t be that good, right?

That’s what she thought.

The moment she released her power, a violent wave of power went past her control.

Pure, milky-white luminescent light erupted from her hand. It instantly flooded the entire room with holy, purifying light.

The brilliant white light instantly filled the room, chasing the shadows from every corner. It tore through the window, shooting out in waves, reaching even the crowded streets and buildings. It bleached everything in warm, white light.

Down the city square and outside the hospital, passersby stopped dead in their tracks, shielding their eyes from the light piercing the sky. Even those who were inside enclosed spaces and their houses, weren’t spared.

The toxic cosmic miasma that had hung over the corners of the city that hadn’t yet been swept by the empire’s cleaners stopped spreading and completely vaporized.

Aisha sat frozen, shock filling her. But she quickly recovered and desperately forced her mind to clamp down on the rampaging energy, disconnecting her connection from it.

Everything happened in the blink of an eye. Those who were perceptive and had awareness of their surroundings noticed this, but those who were distracted barely sensed a white flash and thought it was a sensory illusion.

However, how many people remained unaware of it?

Especially those inside the room with Aisha.

"What was that?" Soren stared at her, conveying his demand for an explanation.

But what can Aisha possibly say here? She herself did not know what had happened.

Besides, something else came out after that light disappeared.

Resting in midair, a tiny, glowing creature manifested. It looked like a chubby silkworm radiating soft, warm light. It wriggled its tiny body innocently with two tentacle-like antennas reaching out toward her.

Aisha didn’t touch it immediately, staring at it with curious eyes.

"Congratulations, Miss Aisha!" Suddenly, Daisy pounced beside her happily. "You’ve manifested your spiritual beast!"

"Spiritual beast?" Aisha murmured, repeating what her young maid said.

Then, she remembered what it meant.

In Aisha’s memories, aside from awakening their guide and sentinel powers, every guide and sentinel is accompanied by their spiritual beasts.

For sentinels, a spirit beast is the physical manifestation of their soul, psychic energy, and core personality. It’s their lifelong partner, sensory radar, and reflection of their mental health.

And a guide’s spiritual beast serves as the opposite. Instead, it embodies psychic healing, purification, and acts as a calming aura to a sentinel’s mental corruption. They allow a guide’s body to collect as much mental pollution for as long as it matches its maximum capacity and grade.

And they usually manifest right after the sentinel or guide’s awakening.

Yet for two years since her awakening, Aisha Novalis’s spiritual beast never manifested.

"Thank you, Daisy."

Aisha agreed it was fortunate she manifested her spiritual beast. This gave her an idea of how to explain that strange light phenomenon to Soren.

"Your Highness, my spiritual beast has finally appeared."

These words weren’t enough to explain the vastness of that light, but Soren understood.

It was common to produce lights of different colors when a spiritual beast manifests. They commonly follow the environment to which they belong. And from what it looks like, Aisha’s spiritual beast might evolve into a firefly.

A tiny firefly.

Soren suddenly felt relieved of this. He knew he shouldn’t, but he couldn’t help it. After all, it would be his immense loss if Aisha’s spiritual body were to evolve into a powerful light entity.

He stared at the wriggling little worm, looking soft and feeble. After it evolves and becomes a firefly, it will still match Aisha’s D-rank.

With that kind of weak spiritual body on top of her low rank and purification rate, she should have a hard time showing her face and should no longer act arrogantly in front of anyone in the future.

"Your Highness, I hope today’s incident remains inside this room."

As expected, as if he could read her thoughts, he heard Aisha speaking from the bed.

Soren nodded. "I swear upon my name that no one will hear about this."

Aisha’s lips broke into a gentle and approving smile, like a fox who had successfully schemed its way into a rabbit’s burrow. She pushed the signed annulments forward and said, "Our engagement is officially over."

What he didn’t know was that this was exactly what she wanted.

He came thinking everything was going his way.

He had no idea that Aisha had completely played him. The prince even ended up taking care of the unnecessary worry of hiding that strange light phenomenon.
