Chapter 172: Weapon.
Eva.
"I can’t believe he tried to kill you!" Thomas yelled in explosive anger, the sheer fury in his voice echoing through the room as he slammed his heavy hand down flat against the wooden table with a sharp, deafening thud.
I lay curled up on the soft sofa, wrapped tightly inside the heavy fabric of his tailored suit jacket, shivering as a sudden, deep-seated chill washed over my entire body.
The dank, unforgiving air of that subterranean dungeon had been so intensely cold for so long that the freezing temperature had clearly seeped deep into my very bones, leaving me feeling hollowed out and completely frail.
I stared quietly at Thomas from beneath my lashes, watching the hot, dangerous anger blooming within his eyes. Seeing the rage consume him sparked a dark realization inside me, making me want to manipulate and utilize his burning fury even more for my own advantage.
Capitalizing on the moment, I immediately began sobbing uncontrollably, letting my shoulders shake violently as I exaggerated every shiver.
"What’s wrong?" Thomas asked softly, his anger instantly shifting into deep concern as he hurried over to the sofa, sitting on the edge and wrapping his strong arms tenderly around me to cuddle my trembling frame close to his chest.
"Alex’s mind was completely poisoned by Ella," I sobbed against his shoulder, my voice quivering with well-rehearsed grief. "He didn’t just try to kill me..." I paused, letting out a pitiful sniffle as I squeezed my eyes shut. "He already..." I choked heavily on my sob, letting the dramatic silence build before finishing the sentence. "He already killed our baby," I added slowly, emphasizing each and every agonizing word with cold, calculated precision.
The moment those heavy words hung in the air, Thomas’s arms immediately loosened their tight grip around me, slipping away as he froze in place and stared down at me in absolute, jaw-dropping shock.
"What?" he yelled, his voice cracking with a painful mix of disbelief and agonizing grief as he violently threw himself up from the sofa to stand tall over me. "My baby..." he breathed out, his posture stretching taut with agonizing tension as he clenched his hands into tight, white-knuckled fists at his sides. "I will make Alex pay dearly for this!" he added firmly, his tone dripping with absolute hatred and lethal promise.
A subtle, slick smirk slowly spread across my face while I lay there watching him pace, listening as he unleashed his unrestrained anger and called out Alex’s name repeatedly with pure venom.
’I will get my absolute revenge on you, Alex,’ I thought to myself in the silence of my own mind, my eyes narrowing with pure malice as my smirk deepened. ’And I will make sure you completely cease to exist, Ella!’
Thomas immediately bent down, lowering his massive frame until he was completely on my eye level.
"I will help our pup get complete justice, Eva!" he said calmly, his tone shifting into something surprisingly tender as he gently stroked my hair, his fingers threading softly through the strands to soothe me. "And as for Ella..." he added, his voice trailing off as a strange, unreadable smile slowly spread across his face.
The moment that expression hit his lips, I immediately raised my brows in sharp curiosity, my eyes narrowing on him.
I knew Thomas far too well. I knew for a fact that Thomas doesn’t smile like that—not unless he already has a brilliant, ruthless plan put into motion, and he was so entirely, undeniably sure that it would yield a devastating result.
"Tell me, Thomas!" I said, forcing my face into the pathetic posture of someone trapped in unbearable, agonizing pain. "What about Ella?" I asked, leaning closer as I intently searched his cold, dark eyes, desperately trying to see if I could catch even a single inch or trace of what was currently going on inside his mind.
"Ella should probably be on her way to ascending into the other world by now," he added quietly, and then his unsettling smile deepened into something far more sinister. "And that is, of course, if she hasn’t gone there already by now."
Before I could even digest the monumental weight of his words, Thomas immediately reached forward, grabbed both of my hands into his own, and stroked them quietly, his thumb rubbing smooth circles over my skin.
"I will make everyone that has humiliated you and killed our pup pay dearly with their lives," he said, his voice dropping into a deadly, solemn vow.
He then slowly lifted my hands towards his face with surprising care, his movements gentle and unhurried, as though handling something unimaginably precious. His fingers remained wrapped around mine, firm yet tender, while his unwavering gaze stayed locked onto my eyes.
Without breaking eye contact for even a fleeting moment, he lowered his head and pressed a warm, lingering kiss against the back of my hands. The simple gesture carried a quiet tenderness that never once faltered, his eyes continuing to search mine as though they held every answer he sought.
The very second his attention finally shifted away from me and he turned to look elsewhere, the helpless, grief-stricken façade I had worn so convincingly disappeared without a trace.
Every ounce of forced vulnerability melted from my expression, replaced by something far colder. A deep, triumphant smile slowly spread across my lips, impossible to suppress as satisfaction coursed through me.
’That’s more like it,’ I thought, as a cold amd calculated satisfaction settled comfortably within me. ’Everything was unfolding exactly as it should.’
Because very soon, every single threat standing in my path would be permanently wiped out of my way. Every obstacle that had dared to stand against me would cease to exist, leaving nothing behind to challenge my ascent.
And when that moment finally arrived, there would be no one left to question my place. I would stand exactly where I had always been destined to stand—ruling as the undisputed queen I was always meant to be.
