The Tutorial Is Too Hard

Tutorial 20 floors (3)

Edie looks around first to make sure it's safe.

“Glug, it's been a long time, West. ”

“I told you not to call me Western. ”

“Glug, glug. You summoned me from such a cramped room, I guess you're finally ready to accept me. Luckily the bed is big. Do you like your son or your daughter? ”

Instead of agreeing with Edie's words, I turned the toilet into a stick and aimed at Edie's head.

Edie shakes her head and lightly dodges my attack.

“Glug, as expected, the commander is shy. ”

Edie laughed for a moment and asked me.

“Commander, is this place safe? ”

“For now. Friends' strongholds. I can't be sure yet. ”

“I see. If you have time, I'd like you to elaborate on the situation. Glug.”

I explained the situation in detail as Edie said.

Here's what I need to accomplish and setting up the details of the stage.

“Do you know anything about the minions? ”

“Glug, the word 'minions' is a universal word for those of small, analogous peoples. Did they do anything special? ”

Of course, there was one remarkable feature.

I told him about the characteristics of the minions I met.

“Glug, glug. You're about to see some very rare acolytes. ”

“Do you know about those minions? ”

“Of course. Glug, first of all, we shouldn't call them minions in front of them. ”

“Yeah? What should I call you then? ”

“Dragon sickness.”

Dragon sickness?

Those mute Dwarves aren't the only mercenaries I know.

It's too different from the image I was imagining.

I told him about my feelings, and Edie laughed again, glug, glug, glug.

“Of course, the mercenaries themselves are great. They can't be called minions. ”

Then they are.

“They're not mercenaries, but they want to be mercenaries? ”

“Yes, essentially the same way they were born. The same creator, of course, is about as much in common as Lizard Man being born out of an egg. ”

“Hmm... What do they usually call it? Oh, so where they don't listen. ”

“Didn't the commander tell you? It's called the Small Person.”

The Bible says that predecessors are commonly referred to as small-headed meta-humans.

In other words, they don't even have an exact name for them.

Except for the name of the infantry they claim to be.

“Glug, they were born to lift the dragon's paw. They're like the electric cleaning machines and washing machines the commander told us about. ”

You mean the washing machine or the cleaner.

I once briefly explained to Edie about modern texts while I was digging with Edie on the 12th floor.

Related to specific lyrics.

“Then we won't have much to do with the battle. ”

“Of course. Glug. ”

I should take the elixir as well.

I sent word to Edie about my doctor and asked her to guard the room while I absorb the elixir.

“Glug, got it. But Captain, if you had, wouldn't you rather have eaten in a safe place before you got here? ”

I rolled my eyes quietly at Edie's words.

I had a hard time answering what to say.

“Glug, glug. Loosen up a lot, boss. ”

I had no choice but to admit it.

Instead of making up excuses, I admitted it.

In the meantime, I've become much looser and uneasy.

Judgment was slow and inaccurate.

I feel the same way myself.

* * *

During the afternoon, I spent time absorbing the elixir and craving its power.

“Glug, is that it? ”

“No, not yet. Power absorption is over, but my body hasn't adapted yet. You should be able to get used to it by tonight. If we start the battle tomorrow, we can be sure to finish it. ”

“Glug, shouldn't we finish what we started before the battle?" ”

“I'm more of a state-raising type when a crisis approaches. ”

“Glug, glug. ”

Edie laughs as if it were ridiculous.

I don't know what to do with that.

I was talking to Edie in her room, and a small tribe came in to visit.

These things don't knock.

The minions come in and look at Edie and start talking with their eyes wide open.

“Lee……. ”

Oh, here we go again.

“Now……. ”

Idi doesn't listen to the words of the minions, but starts talking.

“Glug. Yes, Lizardman. Don't get me wrong, this commander summoned me here, not sneaking around. ”

“Th……. ”

“I'm also glad to meet the family of a great dragon. Oh, it's dinnertime already. ”

“Man……. ”

What is this?

“Edie, can I just talk to you like that? ”

“Glug, glug. As expected, the commander's skill in translating doesn't seem to take their message very well. Glug, it's hard to explain. ”

“What's that supposed to mean? ”

”This……. ”

“Most of their words are implied in the first or second syllable. ”

“Th... ”

Yeah? Yeah.

Then ‘Lee……. Oh, Lizardman. What are you doing here? How did you get in? "

When I asked him what I thought, Edie agreed.

“Yes, Kebug. And most of the words that follow are meaningless. ”

“I……. ”

Don't let the local radio sound!

The slow words of the minions interfering in the middle of the conversation with Edie are so disturbing.

“So the first syllable contains all the meanings, and the rest is meaningless, and my translation skills judge it by its full sentence and extend it? ”

“Target……. ”

“Yes, I understand quickly, commander. Glug, glug. ”

“Why are you using such inefficient conversations? ”

“Equation……. ”

“The terminology is usually used that way. ”

“Dragon language……. You're following the dragon's narrative. ”

It is understandable that knowledge before Babel does not translate properly and is confusing.

Knowledge skills prior to Babel show a lot of blurriness, either because of low skill levels or because of skill limits or because of their magnificent name.

First of all, I couldn't understand the Runic language, which is the foundation of magic, and there were many ancient words that could not understand the meaning of the paladin on the 16th floor.

I couldn't translate the language or slang the knight told me about.

“F……. ”

“So, Edie, how do you understand that? ”

“Glug, I'm Lizard Man, too. I know the basics of the word. ”

This is where we find a connection.

With dragons, Lizardmen, lizards.... Well, it was similar, so I thought it might be.

“I……. ”

“Commander, do you know the location of the restaurant? ”

You nod.

I've located the restaurant on the map inside the fortress.

“Then, let's go to the restaurant. Dinner is ready and waiting for the boss. ”

“June……. ”

I guess that's what the minions have been saying all along.

“Okay, let's go. ”

When Idi and I left the room and headed for the restaurant, the minions chased after us.

“B-but…. ”

Slowly, of course.

* * *

If there's a hell of a language in this world, it's here.

I didn't doubt anyone would agree with me if I was a sane linguist.

The restaurant where over 200 minions were eating was truly a chaotic crucible.

“W-we…. ”

“Th……. ”

“M-man……. ”

“W……. ”

“N-no... ”

“Th... ”

Dozens of people were talking like that in the same place, so I couldn't understand a thing.

Even some of them continued to talk irregularly while eating food, so they couldn't understand the meaning at all.

So I gave up the conversation, left everything to Edie and focused on eating.

The food of the minions was largely herbaceous.

It didn't taste good.

“Wouldn't it be angry if I made this food for the dragon? ”

I whispered in Yidi's ear, who was talking to the minions.

Maybe the minions will get angry when they hear it.

“Glug, dragons don't eat food. I heard that there is no problem without eating food. ”

If you don't eat it, you can't eat it.

I make food like this, so why not just eat and drink it?

I didn't say this to Edie either.

There's a good chance they'll get angry if they hear it.

“Glug, and when the meal is over, I've decided to show you the legacy of the dead." ”

”Oh, yeah, that's great. ”

“And the captain said he really liked the dinner tonight. ”

Why would you do such a useless thing?

“The boss seems to be rotting so much that he asks what's wrong with his face, and the boss says that when he eats something delicious, his face distorts. ”

Phew...

I was primarily mistaken for eating the food I made and frowning, so I didn't have anything to say.

* * *

After the meal, I walked along one of my predecessors to make sure it was the legacy of the dead.

They all looked the same and could not be identified, but the minions who guided us said they were the minions we spoke with this morning.

I didn't have anything to say when I heard it.

“Th……. ”

I was being told what to say, but I didn't have to worry because I left all the conversations with Edie.

I feel comfortable talking to Edie, not me.

I thought it was a good idea to summon Edie for an interpreter.

When I said that to Edie, Edie grumbled and gave me a pink glass.

“Glug, now you've come to find a reason for the summoning? ”

No, it could be.

I was surprised that Edie responded more sharply than I thought.

“Glug, glug. The commander is all good, but he doesn't know much. ”

Like Edie said, I couldn't find any reason to offend Edie.

I couldn't say anything, so I just kept my mouth shut.

Walking quietly, I suddenly arrive at the back of the keep.

Behind the keep is a small hall covered by a stone wall.

In the middle of an empty hall, a necklace was floating in midair.

It's like a magic of fortune.

“Is that the dragon's legacy? ”

“Glug, I will. I can't tell you more about the details of that necklace. ”

I don't know the necklace's effects or its value, but it doesn't matter.

All we have to do is protect that necklace from the Trilogy Alliance.

“So, Edie, can you ask if I can keep that necklace here? ”

“Me? Wouldn't it be better if I fought on the front lines? ”

“No, I had information to watch my back. And we have to protect this necklace, and I need you to protect it, in case an invader comes through the back.” The minions, fortunately, agreed without much objection.

Not only Edie, but other small troops will deploy to strengthen the perimeter.

Of course, I heard it through Edie.

So I did everything I had to do that day, and I went back to my place.

I sat on the bed and thought things through for a moment.

It's a trap, but there's nothing to be nervous about.

The defense was thorough, and there was no quarrel with the minions.

It seemed like a stage where you just had to devote yourself to defense.

But it was rather strange that the minions were showing more trust to me and Edie than to me.

Of course, there is a racially relevant Idiya, but I was doubtful that she would trust me easily.

“What do you think? ”

“Glug, I don't know. Honestly, I don't know what dragon minions are like. It is not just those who are born, but those who want to be mercenaries. Besides, I don't know anything about a group called Trilogy, so there's no way to guess. ”

“I see. ”

“Better keep your guard up, gather more information. Glub. If the battle starts tomorrow and you learn a little more about the trilogy, won't you see something? ”

In the end, Edie came up with the same conclusion that I had reached by myself during the day.

It was the same as I thought, but the words that came out of Edie's mouth gave me more trust than I thought.

I was a little relieved.

That night, I spent talking to Edie instead of sleeping.

Neither I nor Idina can sleep easily where safety is not assured.

The story was mostly about what happened on the 13th to 20th floors after leaving Edie.

Talking to Edie, I learned about my thoughts that I didn't know myself.

Edie used to listen to me and praise me occasionally for doing well, or console me quietly.

I felt a little relieved because I had Edie.
