Chapter 1363 - 1359: Achu, You’ve Been Canceled Online
After the first episode of the large-scale survival dating reality show "Let’s Fall in Love" finished filming, the live-streaming platform peaked at 13 million viewers. The Weibo topics stayed sky-high, new tags hit trending every day, and all eight guests blew up in popularity.
Just as the production team was celebrating wildly, a different voice suddenly appeared on Weibo.
Fans of Luo Yiran pointed out that their idol had been seriously injured during the recorded segment, yet the show hadn’t mentioned a word about it, and they claimed Luo Yiran’s injury was caused by another female guest’s deliberate attack.
Netizens recalled the last day’s live stream: Luo Yiran had hardly shown up, and Constantine Stewart’s screen time wasn’t much either.
Some rubberneckers even posted photos of Luo Yiran going to the hospital in the Imperial City with her agent afterwards. With that solid evidence, Weibo instantly blew up.
The first one to get hit was Wendy Starling. Everyone in the Entertainment Sector knew she didn’t get along with Luo Yiran; their fanbases fought like clockwork every so often.
Luo Yiran’s fans swarmed Wendy Starling’s Weibo like a plague of locusts, flooding it with abuse, accusations, and demands that she apologize.
Wendy Starling’s fans weren’t pushovers either. The two sides quickly tore into each other so hard the sky went dark, and the crossfire even dragged in other guests. Fans demanded the others step out and reveal the inside story.
Right when Wendy Starling was being blackened across the entire internet, the athlete guest Vicky Webb spoke up, saying the matter had nothing to do with Wendy and that the person who injured Luo Yiran was someone else.
She was one step away from naming Chloe Winston as the one who deliberately hurt her.
There were only four female guests on the show. Eliminate two, and what’s left is one perpetrator, one victim.
Netizens exploded. Luo Yiran’s fans and hired trolls rushed over to go after Chloe Winston, only to find she didn’t even have a Weibo account and couldn’t be found. So they all piled on the trending page instead, screaming for "Chloe Winston to get the hell out of the Entertainment Sector."
Within an hour, the situation was completely out of control, the whole internet knew.
When it all happened, Chloe was eating with Kyla Zamora and Desmond Wood. Desmond had even called his cousin Finnian over to pay the bill, and was clearly trying to set Chloe up with Finnian.
In Desmond’s mind, his cousin was in no way inferior to Ignatius Leclair, and a hundred times better than Constantine Stewart. He was getting on in years with no dating history, no marriage, and the whole village was nagging him. If he weren’t family, Desmond wouldn’t even be willing to introduce Chloe to him.
So, while Chloe knew nothing, she was basically on a blind date.
"Miss Chloe, hello, I’m Finnian, I’m a fan of yours." Finnian arrived at the private home-style restaurant, carefully hung up the black umbrella he carried everywhere, then smiled politely.
The man was gentle and handsome, wearing gold-rimmed glasses, radiating an astonishing warmth from head to toe, the kind that made you like him at first sight.
Chloe had long been used to true gentleman-scum types like Constantine Stewart. Suddenly seeing another of the same type, Finnian, made her feel inexplicably pressured. She smiled, nodded, and greeted him.
"This is my brother. He works at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Every time I screw something up, he’s the one cleaning up my mess," Desmond said excitedly, pulling Finnian into a seat and hard-selling him to Chloe.
"I’ve heard you had a powerful big brother." Kyla Zamora rolled her eyes on the side, but when facing Finnian she still stood up to greet him. This Foreign Ministry official’s clout in the Imperial City wasn’t low, and as someone who’d been around the block, Kyla got jittery the moment she saw a government official.
Once Finnian arrived, the atmosphere grew even livelier. He was a master at holding the room, funny and approachable. They chatted for a full hour. Even someone like Chloe, who wasn’t good at small talk, felt the meal was genuinely pleasant.
Until Desmond suddenly saw in the WeChat group that Wendy Starling and Vicky Webb were going at each other.
"Vicky Webb, when the hell did you become Luo Yiran’s lapdog? You even dare spout that kind of crap online?" Wendy snapped straight away in the group.
"You’re an athlete, what are you sticking your nose into the Entertainment Sector for? How much did Luo Yiran give you?"
"I’m just telling the truth. It was Chloe Winston who pushed Yiran." Vicky was just as aggressive in the group. That day Chloe had pushed Luo Yiran, and Luo Yiran ended up crying in Constantine Stewart’s arms. Everyone had seen it crystal clear. There was no doubt Constantine was Luo Yiran’s sugar daddy. Otherwise, with his status and power, would he be on some small-time reality show in the Entertainment Sector?
Not just Vicky—anyone who wasn’t blind could see Luo Yiran was on a one-way ticket to marrying into a rich family.
So with just a tiny hint from Luo Yiran, Vicky happily became the one in front, charging and fighting for her.
"Which eye of yours saw Chloe push her? You that desperate for fame? Gone completely crazy?"
"What are you all talking about? I’m literally eating with my brother and Chloe right now. Holy crap, who’s blackening my Ah-Chu?" Desmond hitched up his sleeves and started typing furiously.
Charles Taylor popped up and asked, "Is Chloe’s phone dead? I keep calling and no one picks up."
Luo Yiran, who’d been silent this whole time, also said, "I don’t know how the netizens even found out about this. Wendy, if you want to curse someone, curse me. This has nothing to do with Vicky."
"You’re exactly who I’m cursing. Are you sick in the head? Whoever you don’t like, you tear into. Who in the circle actually likes you?" Wendy sneered.
"Wenwen-jie, stop it. If someone screenshots this and posts it, you’ll get dragged again. Let me handle it." Desmond declared heroically. "Anyone who dares to blacken my Ah-Chu, I’ll fight them to the end."
Desmond frantically yelled at Chloe to check her phone. Chloe took her phone out of her bag and saw that Charles Taylor had called several times. She opened WeChat, accepted the group invitation, and the group was already in a complete flame war.
Kyla Zamora opened Weibo and checked the trending topics. Her expression darkened as she said, "Chloe, you’re being blackened across the whole internet."
"Holy shit, I’ll post on Weibo right now and help Ah-Chu clear her name," Desmond said.
"It’s useless. If you speak up, it’ll only make it worse. Right now several fandoms are tearing into each other. If all the guests get dragged in, this entire show will be riddled with controversy." Chloe glanced at Weibo and said coolly. She’d known Luo Yiran wouldn’t let this go so easily.
"Chloe, you go register a Weibo account right now. Desmond, you’re not allowed to do anything—don’t even curse Luo Yiran. I’ll handle this." Kyla Zamora truly lived up to her Iron Lady reputation in the circle. She quickly called the people at the studio, then dialed Delphine as well.
Five minutes later, Kyla used the news of Delphine’s second pregnancy to divert attention, arranged for paid promotion to push the "national goddess pregnant with her second child" news to the top of the trending list, suppressing Chloe’s issue. At the same time, Delphine Studio released a statement announcing they’d signed artist Chloe Winston and that they would pursue legal action against all online defamation of Chloe.
Chloe herself also posted a Weibo, announcing she’d officially signed with Delphine Studio and that her agent was Ms. Kyla Zamora.
As soon as Chloe’s Weibo account opened, fans swarmed in like crazy. In just ten minutes, her follower count broke the one-million mark and was still skyrocketing.
