Chapter 1424 - 1420: Mr. Ji Booked All the Nearby Hotels
By six in the evening, Chloe Winston and the others had already successfully unlocked two hidden missions in the Arena, and seeing that it was getting late, the production team issued a notice.
"After six o’clock, recording will be paused. Any guest who hasn’t cleared the stage can exchange one life point for a chance to go out and rest."
Basically, it meant trading one life for the chance to go out, eat, and sleep in a hotel; this rule from the production team was actually pretty humane.
"Chloe, are we heading out?" Charles Taylor glanced at the backpack on her shoulders; he didn’t even need to think to know she definitely had everything in there.
Chloe looked at how everyone, worn out from the heavy mental drain, was exhausted and beat, then nodded with a smile. "Let’s go rest. There’s no way we’re clearing it today anyway."
With Constantine Stewart gone, this little squad took Chloe as their de facto leader in everything—not just because they trusted her strength, but also because they wanted to look after her and spoil her.
"Going out costs a life point. You guys are really extravagant." Lian Ke said in a snide, half-mocking tone off to the side. Her amusement-park Star Coins were one less than Chloe’s, so when she saw Chloe was going out, she was secretly delighted, but still had to take a jab.
"Then you stay here. We’re going out to eat, enjoy the AC, and sleep." Desmond Wood grinned broadly as he said it.
The group really did cheerfully pack up their luggage and head out.
Lian Ke was so angry her teeth itched. These people were all clearly poisoned by Chloe.
When the four of them came out, they just happened to see Constantine Stewart at the main gate. The man’s figure was tall and lean, exuding noble air all over. Daniel was chatting with Constantine with a beaming face, like an overexcited little fanboy.
"Constantine Stewart really did come out to enjoy himself too. The only idiot still stuck inside is Lian Ke." Now that recording was done, Desmond Wood let his sharp tongue loose without mercy.
"That woman’s always talking all yin-yang, and her competitive streak is way too strong. We finally got rid of one fake innocent, and now here comes another green tea." At first Wendy Starling hadn’t thought much of Lian Ke, but later, seeing this junior act all lofty and superior, whatever goodwill she had left instantly evaporated.
The four of them chatted as they walked forward. Constantine saw the little girl come out smiling, with Charles Taylor still gentlemanly carrying her travel bag. His brows knit at once as he said lightly, "I booked five suites at the hotel. We’ll have dinner together tonight, hmm?"
"Yes, yes. What are we eating?" The foodie Desmond’s eyes lit up and he kept nodding. Ever since Constantine had carried him through the last level, Desmond hadn’t had the nerve to keep giving him the cold shoulder.
"No need, but thank you, Mr. Stewart." Charles Taylor refused with a polite smile. "I’ll have my assistant book us a hotel."
Constantine’s gaze slid past him to Chloe. The little girl stood quietly to the side, looking both well-behaved and sweet, and he felt a stir in his chest at the sight. Since Charles had turned him down, he said nothing more, just hooked his lips in a faint smile.
A moment later, Charles’s assistant ran back, face slick with sweat and looking dejected. "Charles, all the nearby hotels are fully booked. This area’s still under development, and the next hotels are a thirty-minute drive away. And they’re all budget places, no five-stars."
"No hotels? What kind of godforsaken place is this, where even chickens won’t lay eggs and birds won’t shit?" Desmond was dumbfounded.
"There are four five-star hotels near Century Park. When I went to ask, the front desk said Mr. Stewart had booked all their rooms." the assistant said quietly.
"Pfft, that’s what you call filthy rich." Wendy suddenly burst out laughing. She glanced at Chloe and said with a smile, "We’d better go find Mr. Stewart then."
Recording the show was already exhausting; none of them wanted to sit in a car for another half hour just to sleep in a hotel. So they had no choice but to turn around and go look for Constantine Stewart.
Constantine not only settled their lodging and meals but also arranged accommodations for the production staff as well, making Daniel so excited he almost shouted "Daddy."
This was all money saved in shiny Silver, so of course that night, without question, everyone had a group dinner.
Once she returned to the hotel, the first thing Chloe did was take a bath. Her assistant, Xiao Qiu, helped her sort out her backpack, then headed back out to buy fruit and water.
She almost fell asleep in the bathtub, and only when she heard knocking did she think Xiao Qiu had returned. She got up, pulled on her clothes, and went to open the door while towel-drying her damp hair, her voice soft and sweet. "Xiao Qiu, did you forget your room card?"
Listening to that soft, sugary voice, Constantine saw her standing there in cozy cotton pajama pants and a short cotton tee, a strip of fair skin showing. His gaze immediately darkened as he lifted a foot and stepped inside.
"What are you doing here?" Chloe’s hand paused mid-towel, and she unconsciously knit her brows.
"Dinner tonight. I came to get you." Constantine’s deep gaze rested on her.
Chloe had been recording all day, and her mental energy was already drained. She’d almost fallen asleep in the bath; with the steam fogging her up, her brain was working much slower than usual. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have just opened the door all dazed without even asking who it was, handing Constantine the perfect chance to slip in.
