Chapter 1373 - 1369: Constantine Stewart Still Has Feelings for His Ex-Wife
"Chloe was Constantine’s ex-wife, there must be some issues between them. But since Constantine can appear on a reality show together with Chloe, he probably still has feelings for her," Richard said lowly as he sat at the dining table, wiping his hands with a damp towel.
With a man like Constantine, who is full of bad intentions, if he truly had no thoughts of his ex-wife, Chloe wouldn’t have had the chance to appear before him, let alone him participating in a reality show in such a demeaning way.
"That boy just likes to cause trouble. He doesn’t appreciate a good girl like little Chloe," the elderly woman said sternly. She was a staunch supporter of Chloe and Constantine as a couple. That little girl seemed cuddly, so cute, how could anyone not feel for her?
"Grandma, don’t worry. After they finish shooting this season of the reality show, I’ll set up an event to bring Chloe into the elite circle, and take this opportunity to assess Constantine’s attitude," Leah said with a smile. She had been entrusted by Delphine upon her return, but now that the Shaws’ status was so elevated, engaging with others impacted many aspects, so Leah refrained from acting. After watching a season of the reality show and understanding Chloe’s experiences, she felt at ease and planned to make her move.
"Alright, alright, I trust you the most with these matters," the elderly woman said merrily. "Hurry and eat, after dinner, I need to catch the reality show; if I’m late, there won’t be a live broadcast."
Leah and Richard exchanged a smile, feeling that the elderly woman was getting younger, like a child, but it was quite nice indeed.
The man’s warm, broad hand held Leah’s, eating while holding hands, affectionately and clingingly.
The Shaws were concerned about this reality show, and during this period, the elite circle of Imperial City was also overrun by the show.
Mr. Constantine entering the Entertainment Sector was utterly shocking to the elite circle of Imperial City. Such an aloof and noble person like Constantine joining the Entertainment Sector? Participating in a reality show? A survival show? What nonsense?
Thus, the elite bigwigs who typically had no interest in the Entertainment Sector were all eagerly watching in the livestream.
Initially, everyone was watching with the mindset of seeing Constantine stumble. But seeing him gracefully navigating through challenges elegantly anywhere, they felt somewhat unsettled and had to admit, the show was really entertaining.
So, they along with the group continued following the reality show enthusiastically discussing it daily.
"Did Constantine get messed up today?"
"Not at all, old Con went digging for rabbit nests and gained a wave of favorable impressions."
Everyone was speechless, oh my, digging for rabbit nests, what kind of bizarre operation was that?
"When will old Con get messed up?" the frantic bigwigs asked furiously.
Constantine was the typical sly fox; the number of people who had lost to him was countless. So, every day their enthusiasm was fueled by the hope of seeing Constantine being messed up, and when he returned to Imperial City, they would throw parties to publicly ridicule him and settle scores.
But by the second episode’s shoot, Constantine still hadn’t been messed up - exhausting.
"Speaking of, that little star Chloe looks really charming." A thought to sponsor her, she looks fresh and tender.
"Haha, she’s Delphine Carter’s person, just think of that formidable Ignatius, that man from the south who would swallow people whole, then think of his tight-knit buddies!" The rest was uncomfortably unmentioned; beyond Ignatius himself, a man born into a noble family, who dominates the South with immense wealth that could bury people, also backed by the Howard Family and Shaw Family - who dared provoke them?
When the reality show aired, everyone saw that little star, wearing a leather jacket, those long legs and slender waist, bare-faced yet tender, you could squeeze water out of her; but once looked into, all were deflated.
"Haha, are you blind? Didn’t you see Constantine was already hitting on her? I bet Constantine is there just for picking up girls."
The group smiled, looks like they need to contribute some money to the show crew, must make sure to utterly mess him up during upcoming shoots. Director Daniel had a night filled with sponsorships, almost doubting life’s choices.
The crew, after the guests finished their meal, closed the livestream, everyone boiled water, cleaned up, and went to sleep.
The crew was cunning, stating lent tents, pots and such could only be used for one night, and everything would be recollected the next day.
"Never seen such sneaky crew," Wendy grumbled as she laid sleeping bags in the tent.
"Actually, the crew avoiding the livestream space, agreed to exchange supplies with us, it’s fairly sensible," Chloe smiled. Though Daniel being a food lover was mainly the reason, getting to sleep peacefully for a night was a benefit, as they borrowed many items from the crew, aside from not showering, at least everyone boiled some hot water, made do by wiping their bodies in tents more than during the first episode shoot.
"You sleep first, I’ll go check the fire," Chloe told Wendy after exiting the tent, looking at the tents and fire pit on the clearing. Charles was very experienced, everyone’s tents were pitched together, with three fire pits outside, lasting five to six hours till dawn.
Chloe walked over, adding twigs to the fire pit, sitting by it to warm up. By this time, most were too exhausted, lying down, silence blanketed around, only small conversations could be heard.
"Why aren’t you resting?" Charles sat beside her, asked softly.
"Can’t sleep, just warming by the fire, looking at the night sky," Chloe replied softly.
The flickering fire light illuminated the girl’s delicate and fair face. Charles found it hard to believe that this seemingly soft and frail girl could draw bows to hunt wild chickens and rabbits. Clearly only just in her early twenties, at an age pampered by parents, she shouldered her entire life early on.
He joined this reality show purely to lend a hand to the young girl, now realizing, even without him, Chloe could live her life very well.
The one truly rescued and transformed was actually him.
"What are your plans after shooting this reality show?" Charles asked softly, smiling, a mature charming smile, noticing several crew members seeing them, yet unfazed.
"Get the remaining payment, buy my own house, then finish my studies, continue acting, support orphanage children, and eventually grab awards, standing on the grandest stage, embracing the world," Chloe spoke excitedly. Having no parents, no relatives, no home, no roots, perhaps career was her sole pursuit. She wants to stand at that position, with no regrets.
"Mr. Charles, how about you?" Chloe asked.
"After shooting this show, I should return and inherit the family business, marry and start a family," Charles turned side, smilingly replied. His gaze fixated intensely on her, if he and Chloe formed a family, it surely would be a great match. She could act, he would invest, safeguarding her, accompanying her to fulfill her dreams.
Chloe was slightly startled, not expecting Charles intended to leave the circle. Though he debuted early, acquiring all necessary awards, but such high popularity, suddenly exiting the circle, could fans really accept that?
"Chloe, after returning to Imperial City, come and visit my home, hmm? Consider it a thank you for all your care along the way," Charles said, looking at her widened misty eyes due to surprise, watery and resembling a cute deer, irresistibly endearing, impulsively inviting her over, wanting to introduce her to his parents.
Since the Sutton Residence folks learned he was joining the reality show for a young girl, they kept tuning into the livestream diligently, occasionally asking when he would bring Chloe home.
"Mr. Charles, shouldn’t you also invite me, hmm?" Constantine’s voice sounded playful from behind them. The man lay with knees bent in a sleeping bag, obscured by the fire pit behind, unnoticed in the shadows, by both.
