Chapter 1433 - 1429: Sharp Eyes—Found Such a Beautiful Girlfriend
Chloe Winston initially thought she would be sleepless all night, but when night fell, the world was quiet and serene. A gentle breeze brushed across Emerald Lake, blew past the window lattice, and enveloped her in the fragrance of daisies. She fell asleep peacefully in the night wind, sleeping very well.
That night, there were no bizarre nightmares. Awakened by the chirping birds in the woods in the morning, Chloe got up, stood on the balcony, and saw Finnian in the small garden on the first floor.
The man was wearing a casual, loose beige T-shirt, a stark contrast to his usual suit and tie. With glasses on, he was reading a plant guide while transplanting flowers along the white fence.
Chloe quickly freshened up and went downstairs, opened the door, and saw Finnian lift his head and smile, "Morning, did you sleep well?"
"Very well." Chloe walked over, squatted with him in front of the garden fence, and asked, "What are you transplanting?"
"Transplanting roses, they are semi-evergreen, spread in a creeping manner, and have a flowering period that lasts up to half a year." Finnian showed her a picture, with the roses in the image blooming fully and adorably, climbing over the vine frame.
"I noticed the gardens in front and at the back were unattended, with only grass planted, which is a bit of a waste. So, I started planting along the fence for you. If you like the roses, I can call for help to set up flower frames around the yard and build a flower gate. By next May, when the flowers bloom, it will be spectacular." Finnian laughed.
Although he had never dealt with flowers and plants himself, he had seen Ignatius Leclair’s posts in the United Kingdom, always showcasing his love and tending to flowers and plants, turning his standalone house into a small castle of blossoms. It constantly attracted tourists to stop and take photos, sparking envy in Finnian’s heart. Thinking most girls would appreciate such a lifestyle, he studied it for a night and arrived early in the morning with seedlings and fertilizers.
"Beautiful." Chloe nodded heavily, her eyes brightening.
Finnian pulled out his phone and browsed Ignatius Leclair’s online posts, selecting a few pictures, and said, "Ignatius Leclair’s house is covered with wisteria flowers. It’s their blooming season, and the wisteria climbs over the rooftop. However, the house structure is different over there. Here we can’t plant on the rooftop, but setting up flower frames to fill the yard would look great too."
Chloe was captivated by the pictures on his phone. Delphine’s phone was confiscated, and she didn’t have Ignatius Leclair’s contact, so it was her first time seeing the house where Delphine stayed during her pregnancy. The rooftop was covered with wisteria, the walls were lush with creeping ivy, and the yard’s white fences were brimming with blossoms. Combined with the exotic flowers Ignatius Leclair grew, the scene was breathtaking, no wonder Delphine stayed in the United Kingdom once pregnant.
Chloe was at a low point in her life, having kept her phone off since yesterday. Whether it was the revelation of her romance or withdrawing from filming, it would cause a stir. A slight misstep could result in a complete fallout online, flooded with controversy. Thus, she decided to retreat for now, taking a break until everything calms down, eventually making a comeback.
"I want to plant all of them." Chloe gazed eagerly at Finnian, her face still bearing a touch of paleness and frailty, yet her eyes were more lively than yesterday. She seemed to transform from a lifeless puppet into a talking, moving puppet.
"If you want to plant, then plant. I’ll ask a specialist for counsel, then you can choose the flower species, and I’ll arrange for people to transplant and cultivate them." Seeing her show expressions, Finnian breathed a sigh of relief and quickly called an expert in agronomy and forestry.
Finnian’s rapport was remarkable, having friends worldwide. By midday, a small elderly man appearing to be an expert, about fifty or sixty years old, arrived with students, bringing a full truckload of potted plants.
Chloe watched unintentionally as the elderly man meticulously surveyed the garden and then conversed with Finnian.
The expert mistakenly thought it was Finnian’s house, and Chloe was his girlfriend. Just thinking this young girl was stunning, he busily commanded his students around the yard without much greeting, all hustle and bustle. By afternoon, both front and back gardens had entirely changed.
The small front garden was transplanted with various colorful flowers, while the back garden had climbing plants planted around the fence. Flower frames were set up, ready for the roses to grow robustly, covering the frames and blooming pink blossoms.
"Old Lin’s students will come by every two days to care for these plants until they are successfully transplanted," Finnian laughed.
Chloe lightly smiled and thanked Old Lin repeatedly, intending to host him for dinner. However, the elderly man waved his hands, laughing, "I won’t be the third wheel; if I leave now, I can still make it for dinner. Little Finn, sharp-eyed, where did you find such a beautiful girlfriend?"
"Teacher, she is..." The student accompanying Old Lin reddened with embarrassment, "Oh, Teacher spends his days with flowers and plants—all he knows is that this is Chloe, the incredibly popular Chloe—and before he could finish, the teacher interrupted.
"I wasn’t talking to you. Why are you shouting? She isn’t your girlfriend anyway. You just study like a bookworm, while your parents even called me to pressure you into marriage." Old Lin rebuked the student hot-temperedly.
The accompanying student hanged his head shamefully, his face flushing as if blood could drip off. If he were Finnian, also a diplomat, he wouldn’t worry about not marrying well, right?
Old Lin dragged his student away, leaving Chloe and Finnian to look at each other.
"That’s how Old Lin is, quite plain but hot-tempered and forgetful. You’ll get used to him after a few encounters," Finnian laughed, "Ms. Zamora said she’d come tonight and bring us dinner. Seems like she should be here soon."
Since Chloe’s phone was off, Kyla Zamora directly called Finnian.
In less than half an hour, a call from the security gate said there was a visitor. Kyla Zamora not only came but brought Charles Taylor with her.
By the afternoon, the program had finished filming that episode, and everyone felt relieved.
The new guest was criticized terribly, and the program crew was scolded thoroughly. Even the best performer, Kellen, didn’t receive any praise because all the attention was focused on Chloe and Constantine Stewart.
At this critical juncture, Kyla Zamora had planned to sneak over, but Charles Taylor’s people were watching tightly, leaving her no choice but to bring him along.
"I’m telling you, in such sensitive times, why come along? I’ve already mentioned Chloe has mild depression and needs peaceful rest," Kyla Zamora mumbled various explanations, not just to Charles Taylor but also publicly to the media and outsiders.
Charles Taylor had been silent all the way over. Upon arrival, they saw the two-story charming cottage, surrounded by a garden blooming with vibrant flowers, and wooden frames set up. Chloe was crouched in the small garden watering the flowers.
The evening sunlight illuminated the young girl’s fair face, her features painted in a soft and tranquil manner. Charles Taylor’s mind, constantly worried for the past two days, finally found calm.
