Chapter 1420 - 1416: The Meat at the Mouth Flew Away
The train that has passed the level needs to return to the starting point first, then choose the next area to challenge.
Chloe Winston was planning to come back for a short break and have lunch, when she saw Desmond Wood waving at her excitedly from afar, "Hey Chloe, over here."
Chloe, carrying her backpack, walked over and saw Desmond with his face full of oil from eating, his baby face exceptionally endearing, and suddenly, the suppressed mood from the first round of the challenge inexplicably lifted. She asked lightly, "You did well today."
Like praising a five- or six-year-old child, Desmond’s eyes lit up at her words, and he patted his chest proudly, "Of course, I’m the second guest to pass the level."
He rode on others to pass the level! Constantine Stewart curved his lips with hidden disdain, too lazy to expose Desmond’s timid behavior during the challenge, where he almost jumped into his arms.
The man glanced lightly at Nathan Xu, who immediately understood and stepped forward to help Chloe remove her backpack, smiling, "Miss Winston, we have prepared several sets of dishes and chopsticks. Please take a seat."
Constantine had purposely waited to have dinner with Chloe, without having taken a bite yet, while Desmond, being the only glutton, had already eaten quite a bit.
Chloe was about to decline, saying she brought dry food, when she heard a voice behind her. Ella Lin, who followed behind, smiled and said, "Mr. Stewart, Mr. Wood, can I join in for the meal? I came alone and didn’t prepare lunch."
"Of course, come sit," Desmond, who was hospitable by nature and liked to see long-legged beauties, unconsciously expressed goodwill to Ella without knowing what happened between her and Chloe in the challenge round.
Ella’s eyes lit up, her smile becoming even more radiant, and she sat down beside Desmond. Since she started serving in the army, she has always enjoyed the privileges of being a beauty, and naturally assumed no one would refuse her. After sitting down, she glanced at the elegant and handsome gentleman opposite, her heart racing a bit, quickly brewing how to strike up a conversation with Constantine, preferably teaming up for the challenge.
Because Constantine had obsessive-compulsive disorder, and a severe one at that, Nathan had set four sets when arranging the table, at this time seeing Chloe not sitting yet but Ella already seated, he subconsciously looked at Mr. Stewart.
Constantine’s expression was extremely cold, looking at Desmond as if looking at an idiot, even though Ella was the first to pass the Wheel of Destiny, Chloe followed closely, with a short time between them. Others might think the two teamed up to pass the challenge, but Constantine was not an ordinary person. With William Zamora failing in between them, it was enough to explain everything; Chloe didn’t team up with Ella, William did, and failed the challenge.
Moreover, since Chloe and Ella got off the vehicle one after the other with basically no interaction, Constantine saw in a matter of minutes what others couldn’t. He had already made a certain judgment on Ella internally, and seeing Desmond playing host, inviting unrelated people to eat with his lunch, he let out a cold snort. This idiot, adorably foolish.
"Chloe, come have dinner," said Constantine in a deep, sensual voice.
"I brought dry food," Chloe said calmly, looking at the still-recording camera. She did not want any entanglement with Constantine, nor did she want to dine with Ella.
"Are you stupid, eating dry food when there’s hot food available," Desmond stood up, saying this while trying to pull her to sit down.
Chloe’s dark pupils fixedly looked at him, causing Desmond to feel awkward and not knowing what to do, moved to the side.
Ella, seeing Chloe being so unappreciative and even sweeping the face of both Constantine and Desmond, was secretly delighted, just about to speak, when she heard Constantine say indifferently, "Remove the food, let’s eat dry food."
Desmond: "..."
Ella: "..."
Nathan, smiling just a moment ago, now expressionless, instructed the removal of the carefully prepared dishes, full of color, fragrance, and taste. Ella awkwardly put down the chopsticks she had picked up, while Desmond, with eyes reddened, looked at the meat slipping from his mouth, glaring at Constantine.
How could someone be so infuriating?
So the group collectively gnawed on dry food, Ella’s face turning varying shades of red and green, seeing Desmond rotating around Chloe, and Constantine showing indifference towards her, meeting resistance at every turn, internally growing more resentful towards Chloe.
Couldn’t recognize, this woman’s means to win people over were so formidable!
She refused to believe Chloe could keep succeeding in passing.
Desmond wasn’t stupid either, seeing Chloe remaining silent, ignoring Ella, he sensed something wrong, his enthusiasm for Ella waning.
"Chloe, where do you plan to go next round? Let’s team up," Desmond asked what Ella wanted to say, except Ella’s targeted partner was Constantine.
"Challenges aren’t what I’m skilled at, you’d better team up with Constantine," Chloe said lightly, glancing at the scorching sun, where the show crew sheltered under the makeshift canopy, and still unbearably hot, Charles Taylor hadn’t come out yet, things weren’t looking good over there. She planned to head to the area Charles was in next, as they were now like grasshoppers tied to the same rope.
Constantine was indeed strong, but Desmond still wanted to team up with Chloe, primarily because teaming up with her seemed interesting. "It’s fine, I still have three lives, I just want to play with you," Desmond said cheerfully.
"Then let’s wait for Constantine to pick first, then we’ll choose," Chloe said softly, wanting to avoid teaming up with Constantine.
Desmond instantly guessed her thoughts and gave a thumbs up, so stubborn, Chloe Winston, not willing to rely on ready-made strong support.
Desmond and Chloe’s voices weren’t low, and Ella and Constantine heard everything clearly. Ella sneered internally, indeed shameless, wanting to latch onto Constantine’s coattail.
While Mr. Stewart frowned, pondering where Chloe would head next, then seizing the opportunity to choose first. Given Chloe’s personality, with Charles and Wendy being close to her, her next stop was probably going to the Medieval Arena.
Arena? Such a bloody and violent project has always been his forte.
"Mr. Stewart, may I ask if I may team up with you for the challenge?" Ella turned her face to the side, striking a pose she considered most flattering, asking with a smile. If the opposite person is a man, even slightly normal, he couldn’t refuse a survival expert beauty.
Constantine didn’t even look up, coldly saying, "I don’t team up with others."
The man watched as Chloe finished resting, packed her backpack, ready to move. Only then did he stand up, with long strides to choose the second challenge.
The weather is so damn hot, might as well go challenge, and enjoy some air conditioning.
Constantine promptly chose the second challenge area as the Medieval Arena.
Rejected, Ella’s eyes showed some grievances, still pressed on, choosing the same area, hoping sparks might fly during the challenge.
Chloe, prepared to join Charles Taylor and Wendy Starling, was rendered speechless, and finally, all four boarded the train, heading to the arena.
