Chapter 1381 - 1377: The Dazzling White Skin on Her Chest Made His Desire Surge
As soon as Lois Yin grasped Constantine Stewart’s arm, she saw the man glance at her indifferently, his gaze cold without a trace of warmth. Then, he adjusted his sleeve, avoiding her hand, and walked directly towards Chloe Winston.
Lois Yin stood where she was, feeling as if she’d been slapped for the second time. Her face flushed with anger as she noticed several socialites whispering while looking at her, seemingly ridiculing her, and a flame of fury rose in her heart — all because of Chloe Winston.
Whenever Chloe appeared, no one seemed to notice her, even though they were both orphans raised in welfare homes. Why could Chloe always trample on her?
She clenched her teeth, tightly grasped her palms with her ten fingers, suppressing her boiling anger. She couldn’t wait any longer; she had to either destroy Chloe Winston or climb into Constantine’s bed and force him to take responsibility!
Constantine walked over, looked at the little girl closely, and only then did he realize that the dress was low-cut, with the dazzling white skin on her chest making his inner fire surge upward.
This threadbare dress, how could she wear it out? How impoverished was their studio, huh?
"Chloe, how come you didn’t tell me you were coming? I could have picked you up," Constantine spoke casually, and several aristocratic heirs unconsciously stepped aside for him.
Chloe Winston lifted her eyes and saw the refined and handsome man smiling gently like a spring breeze. Thinking about his actions, she lowered her eyes and spoke indifferently: "I’m not familiar with Mr. Stewart; I wouldn’t dare trouble you."
In front of everyone, she disrespected him.
Constantine’s smile deepened, quite intriguing — little Ah Chu’s guts were indeed substantial, enough to be killed.
Leah Squire narrowed her radiant, charming eyes, and as she sized up between the two, she faintly sensed that explosive attraction of hormones between a man and a woman. With a bright smile, she took Chloe’s hand and said: "I often hear Delphine mention you; I’ve always wanted to meet you. Now that she’s in the United Kingdom for antenatal care, I’m bored alone at home. You should come around often if you’re free."
Chloe Winston was a bit flattered, seeing her stunningly beautiful and her words conveying friendliness. Thinking about the Shaw Family’s high stature in the Imperial City, she hurriedly said: "Mrs. Shaw, you’re too kind. Everything I have today is thanks to you and Sister Delphine."
Reflecting on a few months ago, while sick and barely alive in a narrow, cold apartment, she could now attend prestigious Imperial City circles’ banquets — such life encounters were indeed poignant.
"Cough, cough, just call me Leah. I’m not yet Mrs. Shaw." Leah inexplicably felt her face heat up as Chloe called her Mrs. Shaw twice in front of everyone. This girl was perhaps employed by Richard Shaw as a helper.
Aside, Richard gently grasped her delicate hand and lowly suggested: "That’s easy; we can register for a certificate tomorrow."
Richard’s marriage report had long been applied, but because Leah hadn’t agreed, they hadn’t completed the final paperwork. Now, as Chloe inadvertently called her Mrs. Shaw twice, Richard’s minor proposal intention resurfaced.
A high-ranking man, often serious and solemn, saying such things in front of everyone instantly stirred up a commotion.
"Marry him, marry him..."
The sly aristocratic heirs shouted one after the other with excitement, trying to make their presence felt in front of Richard Shaw.
Richard tightly grasped her hand, retrieved the ring he always carried from his pocket, but before he could move, Leah glared with her large dark eyes, snatching the diamond ring.
Richard, the cunning one, always carried it along, ready for proposing anywhere, Leah was indeed impressed. She actually felt quite content now, but the Shaw Family was not like other families. With Richard holding an important position, the seat of Mrs. Shaw couldn’t remain vacant indefinitely, especially considering his recent promotion in the military district.
Perhaps lacking a strong trigger, Leah felt something was missing. Maybe when the moment was right, they’d indeed get registered.
Amidst the commotion, Chloe realized that Leah hadn’t married Richard yet, feeling as though she had made a fool of herself all night. She bit her lip and said in frustration: "Sister Leah, I didn’t know. I heard Vice Admiral Shaw always spoiled you, thought you were married."
She’d been muddling through the past six months to know anything.
Her words delighted the silent, stern man; Richard turned to glance at Constantine, patting his shoulder while saying in a low voice: "If blind, go get it treated."
Such a cute little lady made by him to disappear — quite a talent.
Constantine initially felt nothing, but observing a roomful of men staring with green eyes at his little ex-wife dressed so provocatively, combined with Richard’s sarcastic jab, his handsome face grew unsightly. He snorted coldly, laughing slowly: "Six of one, half a dozen of the other."
For the first time, the man seriously considered that now little Ah Chu was so popular, no longer the little girl he’d kept hidden in the villa away from others. So, she would also date and marry, right?
This thought made Constantine’s expression slightly stern, his frivolity towards life collecting inward, as if someone were trying to snatch away his belongings with a thorn stuck in his heart, unable to be pulled out, feeling intensely painful.
The man lowered his eyes, looking at Chloe Winston ignoring him, his gaze deep. To him, marriage was nothing but an experience; having it once was enough. But his woman could only be his until death — it was time to remind her to keep a distance from other men.
Due to this small incident, unwittingly, Chloe integrated into the aristocratic circle. Seeing the survival expert from variety shows act straightforwardly and adorably in real life without cunning schemes, they found her likable and naturally accepted her.
These aristocratic heirs, arrogant and aloof, often divided prestige based on family and power. Chloe, from the entertainment sector and with no background, being accepted so quickly by them was indeed rare.
Chloe was oblivious to all of this, following Leah to tour an art gallery, observing each displayed treasure, while hearing Leah mention it was a charitable art gallery that would open to the public for free after the inauguration, feeling somewhat embarrassed. Having nothing, even if she wished to donate, there was nothing to offer.
"Actually, not everything in the exhibition hall is antiques and repatriated treasures. Some are crafts on the brink of being lost. We have an evaluation group; anything approved by them can be displayed. Times are changing too quickly, and traditions are gradually fading in historical tides. What we can do is truly limited," Leah smiled softly at the young girl.
"Sister Leah, what you’re doing is very meaningful," Chloe said softly. She was still struggling below the poverty line, while Leah, only a few years older, was already thinking about how to do things meaningful to society.
"If you’re interested, you can volunteer as a guide sometime. Your popularity is high; I might just leverage it for free promotion," Leah replied smiling.
"Alright, alright, I’ll definitely volunteer," Chloe responded with bright eyes, happily agreeing.
As the two settled it, they saw Richard approaching, speaking softly with Leah as the two walked side by side toward the exit.
Chloe envied the sweet couple, ready to find Kyla Zamora, but was pulled into the shadowy corner of the exhibit room’s back, facing a man’s deep, dark eyes.
