Chapter 1401 - 1397: I Do Like You a Little

Chloe Winston never knew her ex-husband could be so shameless. While Constantine Stewart was picky, sharp-tongued, and unpredictable, he was also proud beyond measure. When she was younger, without financial independence, she was oppressed by him everywhere. And now? Being suffocated by an ex-husband? No way.

She is a modern young woman. Even after a breakup or divorce, she puffs out her chest, cries and throws a fit, and then she’s good as new.

"Constantine Stewart, are you delusional?" she slurred mockingly with a big tongue.

The man was tall, and although the streetlights in the neighborhood were not very bright, his figure exuded such extraordinary elegance that it turned the heads of many women walking their dogs.

Constantine pulled the young girl’s slender waist closer, his handsome face lowering as he said in a deep voice, "I do quite like you."

Moreover, he found himself increasingly reluctant to let go. These past years, he had been shaping Chloe Winston according to his own preferences, and after losing her, he realized that such a woman tailored for him wouldn’t come around again.

"Then you’re just being petty." With crystal-clear words, Chloe Winston raised her small face and said without backing down. Divorced, she still thought he was her guardian, her husband, and wanted to do as he pleased with her? Dream on!

"When your strength does not match your arrogance, it’s better to speak more tactfully. Even if my punishment is always in the bedroom, it doesn’t stop me from educating you first, understand?" Constantine said blankly. In the past, the one who cried and called him ’good brother’ and ’good husband’ was not him.

The man’s slender fingertips caressed her red lips, rubbing the cherry pink lips till they were a rosy red, then withdrew his hand, coldly saying, "What were you doing at Finnian’s place? Spending an entire afternoon wasn’t enough; you stayed till the evening?"

"None of your business. I’m going home now, don’t block my way." Chloe rolled her eyes, she still had to prepare the documents for applying for a house.

Constantine’s face darkened slightly. For the first time, he felt that divorce was a miscalculation. If she were still at the private estate on Fulham Road, Chloe Winston would already be under him by now.

This day really sucks, not having a woman to warm the bed is one thing, but the ex-wife being surrounded by a pack of wolves is another.

Constantine unbuttoned the first button of his shirt, feeling his breath smooth out some, his face as elegant as jade showing a hint of gloom, he said softly, "Tomorrow night, come with me to the Shaw Family. The old lady wants to see you."

"The Shaw Family?" Chloe was a bit dumbfounded.

"Yes, you know I don’t have a good relationship with my family. The old lady at the Shaw Family is a respected elder of mine. Dress nicely tomorrow, I’ll have Zhen Gu deliver clothes. After dinner, we can discuss how to clean up the mess after the divorce." Mr. Stewart planned to take an indirect approach to solve the problem.

"Oh, and the old lady doesn’t know about our divorce, so you’ll have to pretend to be married to me." Constantine smiled slowly.

Chloe was baffled; when did he tell her he had a bad relationship with his family? And why should she pretend to be married?

"The old lady is over 80, don’t let her be disappointed." Constantine saw her small face pink like a peach blossom, with a small nose and mouth, delicate and cute, and instantly thought of a way to win Chloe over.

Ha! She’s too green to fight him.

After finishing his words, Constantine neatly adjusted his cuffs, then kissed her small face, and smiled, "Go to bed early. I’ll watch you go upstairs."

Chloe was so startled by his gentle voice that she stepped back and then took off running, as if chased by a ghost.

Back home, Chloe locked the door behind her, her heart pounding as if it would jump out of her chest. Just thinking about Leah Squire being so good to her, she knew she had to go to the Shaw Family, and her little face fell as she listlessly flopped on the sofa.

Watching the young girl dash away, the man rubbed his thin lips, his gaze deep and cold, his fingertips still carrying her scent. Once desire arises, it cannot be suppressed.

He needed to confirm whether he was just interested in her body or if he really liked her as a person. If it was the latter, those wild men would have to clear out one by one.

Under the streetlight, Constantine made a call to Richard Shaw.

"Tomorrow night I’m bringing Chloe for dinner, prepare something delicious. She likes sweets." Constantine said nonchalantly, one hand in the pocket of his suit pants.

"Back together?" Richard was puzzled, replying in a low voice, "Wasn’t it someone new you brought to the party last time?"

"No new flame, just a neighbor’s young girl, nothing to do with me." Constantine smiled, clarifying perfectly.

"I told Chloe the old lady doesn’t know we’re divorced, so let the old lady know, whether or not I have children depends on her."

"Whose call is that?" Leah asked casually, wrapping her hair up, then was immediately picked up by a man, laughing, "Stop it."

"A sales call, it’ll hang up on its own." The man’s voice was hoarse.

After hanging up, Mr. Stewart wore a grim expression. Damn it, how dare they flaunt their love in front of him.

With a cold face, Constantine returned to the Fulham Road estate, intending to send Chloe a text. Then he remembered he had tried verifying with her a dozen times without success, leaving him dejected.

In the night, Roy Eden called him several times, the man looked at the endlessly ringing phone, and shut it down with a blank expression.

The next day, Chloe got up feeling dull, packed the documents Finnian needed, stuffed them into her bag, and then opened Weibo.

There were countless private messages and mentions on Weibo every day. With Kyla Zamora managing it for her, she only occasionally checked the comments.

The comments were all over the place; gaming fans constantly asked her to return to gaming, live streaming fans urged her to stream, and reality show fans were always gushing, cute comments aplenty.

Chloe looked at the fan comments, feeling slightly better.

"Chloe, did you just log into Weibo?" Kyla called immediately upon seeing she had time for Weibo, "Don’t need to study today?"

"I’m giving myself a day off today." After leaving Finnian’s place yesterday, Chloe texted Kyla to go home on her own, feeling a bit guilty.

"Great, I have something to discuss. Delphine wants to set up a studio for you, with the team still under your name. According to Desmond Wood, you want to buy a house; all your endorsements are with me, so a house is no pressure." Kyla laughed. Originally, when signing her up, Delphine wanted to give her less work to allow Chloe time for studying, thus holding back many endorsements.

"Aww, Sister Kyla, Sister Delphine, you two are my real sisters." Chloe immediately perked up, acting coy and cute.

"Come to the office this afternoon to pick an endorsement," Kyla chuckled, the young girl’s sweet voice melting her heart.

"I’ll head to the office right away." Chloe’s smile crinkled her eyes, thinking that since she wasn’t going to the Shaw Family until the evening, she had time to go sign endorsements first. Making money to buy a house was the top priority.
