Chapter 116: Ascendant, Mystic and Spirit
His mind before an empty canvas, had been illuminated through ink and brush. The landscapes reproduced themselves with naturalness, extending the mountains and the rivers.
A rudimentary metaphor, because he had never seen before such phenomena of nature. Only through the lens of the network and the video game itself.
He had really passed it without needing to experience hardships! With the exception of the stench that soon converted into one, if he did not find a way to remove it.
His daggers had influenced in large part, acting as two guardians that situated themselves imposingly over him. His physical and class skills were the walls of his fortification. And his combat experience was the soul of the city.
To be an invincible city.
The thought was ephemeral. There existed innumerable talents, that equaled him or even surpassed him, with strange inheritances and gifted ones at his level. For that reason he had always preferred the approach of the resilience.
A mountain that constructed itself as foundation. Attracting little by little its strength.
In this case it was a gigantic mountain of absorbed corpses, rivers of blood and the shamelessness as banner.
Only the shamelessness saved you from the humiliation, said the wise.
With a step, he finally crossed the limits of the blackish doors open wide. A strange exit for a cave, but that was not necessary to analyze.
A dungeon functioned under mysterious forces.
His body and consciousness were rapidly transported until the exterior, where the horrible smell still continued. His clothes were covered entirely of the dark miasma and he had lost his overcoat.
He had an extra set in his inventory, but he still needed to get rid of the stench that impregnated him.
With such an urgent purpose, his ears began to capture each sound that came from the forest. Capturing the light and serene flow of the water.
"Sorry spirits of the forest, spirits of the water and demons of the underworld." He murmured.
He had the absolute certainty that his smell and dirt would not only impregnate and contaminate the water, but would reach until the shadowy domain of death.
Abyss, his faithful comrade, had disappeared. Although he had not delayed so much in finalizing the content of his mission, he had abandoned him.
Maybe it was also part of the mission. But there was also a significant probability that it was not so.
Calmly, he discarded his clothes to one side.
The water ran serenely, striking and wearing the exposed rocks. With a small splash, his body submerged.
A terrible dark greenish stain came from him at that instant, washing constantly with the water that struck his back.
It was a tortuous process. But it ended, after a lot of time.
With his new set, he finally disposed himself to return until the city. With his tense muscles finally finding a moment of relaxation.
Immediately he began to perceive the new information of the book that he had obtained.
His main booty had reduced itself in that, a skill book that could be learned directly. Its values in the conventional markets usually reached high numbers, very distant from the common users.
They were valued precisely for their rarity. Being obtained under a very lesser percentage and fulfilling unknown requirements.
Blind Moon was a very special method, linked directly to the lunar process. It invoked behind the user the illusion of a moon, that could attack the mental defense of his enemies, deceiving them or maddening them.
Taking the form of the most desired object of its victim through the lunar light.
A skill that needed concentration, a strong will and that included the cost of magic, with a reuse time of four hours.
"These skills can save you in the last minute. It is better to have one, than not to have them." He said in a low voice, while he learned it directly.
Complex formations, colors and words united in a unique knowledge in his mind: Blind Moon.
That was the magical aspect of the skill books.
Upon finishing settling the knowledge in his head, he still lacked a long path to travel. Without the spiritual pet of Abyss, the forest and the routes made themselves infinitely long.
He needed to get his own transport. Or hatch a dragon from his mysterious egg.
In his hand appeared the book that caused him greater interest: Introductory Guide to the Elemental World.
It reminded him of those ancient encyclopedias that already no one more reviewed, that had been made with care in a distant past.
The standardized information in modernity usually consisted of an instantaneous function. One more service.
The introduction was dramatically unnecessary.
The world crumbled once. It is our duty to preserve the legacy for the future generations. For our Saints and Immortals of the past and the future. So that the foundations of our human civilization are eternal.
"Did Abyss get confused and deliver me a novel?" He murmured while lightening the step, with greater attention.
Hear, disciples: Cultivating the elemental energy present in nature in a reckless form is not easy. It is a challenge, a challenge against the Gods. From an Awakened with attachments, to a Mystic who has opened the eyes before the unusual nature of our world.
Suddenly he felt that his hairs stood on end, almost opening the mouth by inclination.
The shock grew in his chest.
Did the NPCs plan to rebel against the humans, after discovering the intrinsic rarities of the video game? Well, maybe he had advanced ten steps.
But his interest only managed to grow upon observing an unknown term. The Mystics who could observe the unusual nature of the world.
He recognized with clarity the other so familiar term. He himself was still only an Awakened, a rank that the game granted after having achieved certain requirements and fulfilling the awakening ritual.
The probabilities that they were terms used with the same purpose, only with light discrepancies, was very high.
A substantial piece of the world began to reveal itself before him, that would awaken the desire of the discovery in innumerable ones.
All of us pursue the perfection of the individual in nature. For the orthodoxy has engraved itself in fire of the following form: Mortal, Awakened, Ascendant, Mystic, Spirit and Transcendent. The respective steps of our Tower of Babel, that equals or even surpasses the Gods of old.
That only managed to confirm his previous supposition with a resounding positive. It concerned the numerical power system in The Heaven Above All.
A secret that very few selected had discovered at that point.
One needed the strength or the luck to achieve it. Through connections, relations or fortune.
Gabriel was possessor of both. A strength that described his confidence and a strange fortune that pursued him.
"Ascendant, Mystic and Spirit..."
The intrigue sank deeply inside him, slowly removing his latent curiosity. Practically it was the path that he must follow to fulfill his desire of having control over his own destiny.
Without it being random suppositions or crazy plans.
The mortal is only an ant, even among us, that lives, eats and dies. The Awakened is an individual who has abandoned his insignificance, but who still possesses attachments. An Ascendant achieves important things, forging his path for the future, creating his base. The Mystic is the great individual who has abandoned his attachments and has given the jump to the transcendence of the spirit.
Suddenly he closed the eyes with force, returning one and another time to the page. There existed no successive information for the remaining described levels.
There it ended.
It had logic. Only an introductory book that served as elemental guide, it made no sense that it preserved high-level information.
He sighed with airs of defeat, accepting his destiny.
He still had not even discovered the basic requirements to convert himself into an Ascendant, so it made no sense to feed vain expectations.
It could even be dangerous.
Tower of Babel... Tower of Babel.
His temple hurt. The book practically ignored the conventionalities that he had learned with so much eagerness.
From one moment to the next, the Gods were no longer only ancient legends.
Their existence was accepted, as well as their disappearance.
How is it possible? Bérsaic would become a damned chaos if this small book were published. Or it would be treated only as a useless book...
The walls, imposing as always, rose with magnificence.
Had he really gotten so lost in the reading?
"What a surprise, in the end it was you, Jester." Said a figure that rested over a tree.
His words fell softly like autumn leaves, interrupting the silence.
"Bastard, I would recognize your voice even at the end of the world. You abandoned me without any means to return!" Vociferated Gabriel with displeasure.
The mysterious figure concerned Abyss, who the entire time waited patiently the return of Gabriel.
"You still have feet. You must use them." Answered Abyss, descending from the tree with a silent jump. "You are rapid. Too much."
A renewed confidence caused that the composure of Gabriel improved.
"And smelly."
The displeasure returned.
