Chapter 339: Abhorred [3]
Zenur and Elsa were amongst the senior instructors who had arrived at the scene and were now monitoring the situation.
"Is he using some forbidden spell?"
Elsa asked the question to Zenur, who for the first time had a serious look on his face, as he analysed the phenomenon before him.
Zenur could sense Noah’s mana connecting itself to the world’s mana, something that should have been an impossible thing to do, particularly for a recently evolved Gold core no less.
After becoming an Anchor for the world to exist upon, the Sovereigns indeed gained somewhat control over the mana of the world, but that was just a way for the world to return the favour that it owed to beings like the Sovereigns.
But at the moment, Zenur felt like the world’s mana was offering itself to be connected to Noah, like the kid was someone who was meant to rule over it.
The thought was as absurd as it could get.
"The headmaster has prohibited us from interfering, so let’s not be hasty in our approach."
Zenur spoke in a firm voice, leaving no room for negotiation.
Elsa clicked her tongue in disappointment but didn’t resist the order given to her.
Zenur knew Elsa was someone who deeply cared for her students, and seeing one of them involving himself in some unknown phenomenon was enough to make her anxious about his wellbeing, but... no matter what, Zenur couldn’t let her interfere with anything that was happening around them.
Elsa was strong, but she wasn’t strong enough to feel the changes that the world was experiencing at the moment.
As an Immortal himself, Zenur shared a deeper connection with the world, so it was easy for him to understand that whatever Noah was currently doing wasn’t some sort of forbidden spell, but an ability that was originating from the kid’s mana core and was being connected to the world’s mana.
An Original ability of such extreme power was something Zenur had seen for the first time in his long life.
The Immortals and Sovereigns could form abilities of their own and use those abilities to supplement their already existing powers, but an Original ability, on the other hand, was granted to the individual from birth, and it was something that could be considered the foundation on which the given individual was able to further increase his power.
Individuals having an Original ability were able to advance to the higher ranks at a faster pace than those who didn’t have the privilege of being born with it.
On the other hand, the quality and strength of the Original ability also affected the subsequent powers that the individual could achieve on his path of cultivation.
That was why Zenur was stumped by the fact that a commoner had an ability that was on a level that very few abilities in the history of the living might have reached.
And to boost the already existing ridiculousness of the situation... Noah’s ability was something that could not only influence the mana in nature but also had the authority to rule over that mana.
Zenur couldn’t wait to see what the ability was, and maybe the headmaster had been waiting for the same.
After all, he had constantly been searching for different ways to break the barrier to true Godhood.
A beam of condensed mana had now enveloped Noah’s right hand, and Zenur could guess that it was somehow related to the ability manifesting in real time—
Zenur’s thoughts were interrupted as a certain student who had always managed to surprise him was now making his way towards student Noah.
’What is he trying to do?’
Kael had always been a mystery to Zenur, and the headmaster’s unique relation with the kid only went on to deepen that mystery.
Zenur’s eyes widened slightly as he got a closer look at Kael, who now had a sword in his right hand as he walked towards Noah with his usual ease.
"Does he want to challenge him to a fight?"
Elsa mumbled the words, and Zenur had thought the same.
Was Kael trying to test his strength against the second ranker in his year?
Was it out of curiosity or jealousy?
Though such questions popped into Zenur’s mind, he was quick to dismiss them.
Zenur might not have known Kael closely, but one thing he knew for sure was that the kid had no interest in being the first ranker in the academy.
For him, it was just a side effect of his immense strength, not something to be celebrated.
So there was no way that Kael would be jealous of Noah’s increase in strength.
The reason behind his sudden actions felt a lot more serious than some petty dispute between the students, and the moment Zenur thought so... he began to move.
"Should we stop him?"
Elsa, seeing Zenur walking towards Kael, moved her legs while calling out from behind.
"No. Just ensure that they won’t end up fighting."
Zenur’s reply made Elsa frown in return.
"But isn’t that the same thing?"
Zenur didn’t reply, nor was Elsa expecting one, as both of them closed the distance with Kael without actively trying to stop him.
Zenur knew that Kael had already sensed his presence but made no effort to acknowledge it.
Noah, on his part, had his eyes fixed on Kael the entire time.
His palm, which was at first hidden from view due to the condensed beam of mana, was now slightly more visible than before, and a faint outline of a sword could be seen in the grip of his hand.
The more time passed, the clearer the outline of the sword became for everyone to see.
Zenur and Elsa, being the closest to Noah after Kael, were able to clearly notice the sword that was being formed in Noah’s hand.
It felt as if the sword was made of every colour in existence while being colourless at the same time.
The contrast was deeply unsettling while being an addicting sight at the same time.
"Mana?"
