Leon Black.

Personally I didn’t have much of an impression about him, leaving aside the fact that he was the first in line for the throne, and House Black was a deadly power in the world.

From all my interactions with the guy so far, one thing was crystal clear... Black was a good actor who understood the dynamics of social power and the ways to maintain it.

He had never tried to force his domination over me, but at the same time, Leon had laid a pretty decent groundwork to make me understand who I was dealing with.

Showing his power subtly without letting it turn into disrespect... I had to say the President was truly well versed in the arts of governing the masses and the nobles alike.

Taking a left turn, the corridor turned a little bright, as the area designated for the student council was just ahead—

Hm?

Maybe there was no need to search for Leon’s office, as the guy was currently leaning against the wall on the left side of the hallway, his hands tucked in the pockets of his pants.

Leon’s eyes were closed, as he stood like someone who had all the time in the world, with nothing to hurry about.

His posture was as graceful as it could have been, and with a six-foot build... I had to say, the vampires had their own charms.

As I walked closer to him, Leon slowly opened his eyes, before slightly shifting his head in my direction.

"Took you long enough."

The words were spoken in the most casual way, yet there was a hidden undertone of higher authority in the depths of Leon’s voice.

"I don’t remember asking you to wait for me."

Leon could have been a high and mighty figure in the world, but I wasn’t one to care for it.

Such hidden threats weren’t even worth my attention, and Leon seemed to have received the message as he removed his hands from his pockets, before motioning me to follow him.

The hallway was quiet, with the only sound being that of our footsteps, each one heavier than the last.

I thought Leon would walk ahead of me, but the guy had purposefully reduced his pace to match mine, not that I had any issues with the arrangement.

"Never knew it was such an easy task to evolve and become a Gold core."

The comment wasn’t unexpected; on the contrary, I had found it weird that no one had questioned either of us about our sudden increase in ranks, specifically mine.

Noah’s core had taken some time to evolve, but mine, on the other hand, was a rapid evolution, with no delays in it.

Jumping from Silver 3 to Gold 2... it was too ridiculous to believe, but still people had no choice but to label things beyond their knowledge as monstrous.

"Maybe we have our own unique talents."

I had to give some credit to Noah as well, or else it would be petty of me.

"Unique talents, huh."

Leon let the words play on his tongue, his voice as low as a whisper, yet in the quiet corridors, it was enough to be heard.

Taking a left turn, Leon opened the door to the student council hall, before guiding me to his own office.

"It’s interesting that only two students have such unique talents, and both of them are first years."

Leon kept saying the words without expecting a reply from me, as we headed towards his office, which could now be seen on the right end of the hall, with the President’s nameplate on it.

"Coincidences are indeed hard to believe."

I remained diplomatic in my answer.

Still, thinking about it, if I had been given the choice to choose again, I would have let my rank be revealed instead of being forced to fight him while maintaining a projected rank of Silver 3, or the worst thing being beaten by the protagonist in an attempt to hide my rank.

Even if I hadn’t walked towards Noah... the guy would have attacked me nonetheless, so using the situation to solidify the narrative was much better.

Click.

Opening the door, Leon stepped into his office, as I followed him from behind—

Hm?

I had expected his individual office to be a moderate one... the same as Victoria’s, but the sight greeting my eyes was truly an unexpected one.

The room was magnificent, with its interior being vastly different from the other rooms that were allocated to the student council.

The furniture too felt different from the usual ones—

"I had personally upgraded it. Isn’t it a beauty?"

Leon stretched his arms wide, as if to flaunt his creation.

"It’s good."

I gave my words of praise, but for some reason Leon’s face dropped after hearing them.

Strange.

"The instructors had resisted a lot at the start, but somehow I ended up getting the headmaster’s approval."

Leon’s explanation was brief, and I had no interest in hearing about the rest, so the topic ended there itself.

Two sofas were arranged on my right, and Leon made his way towards them, as he took a seat on the first one, while motioning me to sit on the next.

"Can we get to the point?"

Making myself comfortable on the sofa, I made my stance clear, as for some reason, it felt like Leon was hell-bent on extending our meeting.

My words made Leon slightly raise his brows, as the guy crossed his right leg over the left one, in the most elegant way possible.

"Do you hate my company... Kael Frost?"

Sigh.

Had I done anything to earn such unnecessary attention from the vampire?

"Please do tell me, if there’s anything to enjoy about it."

My voice was polite, and so were my words... at least I thought so.

There was a long silence as Leon didn’t respond, choosing to observe me with calculated silence.

I could feel a small amount of mana pressure leaking from the guy, but it may have been more of an involuntary action on his part, or at least I hoped that it was.

Or else... I wanted to avoid another fight, if possible.

"What plans do you have for your House?"
