Chapter 41: Initial Spiritual Power Test
「The next day.」
Because she went to bed early last night, Sophie Wexler felt refreshed and invigorated when she woke up.
It was still early. When she saw Cillian Forrest’s door was still closed, she assumed he was still sleeping. Deciding not to disturb him, she prepared to go for a walk around the area.
The men of the Seventh Legion had already heard rumors the day before. Their General had apparently invited a streamer—a Healer-class one, no less—supposedly to help with soothing Spiritual Seas.
Seeing Sophie Wexler today confirmed it.
It wasn’t that the military base had no recreational activities. They would go on the StarNet after training, so of course they knew there was someone who could soothe spiritual power rampages with her singing.
In fact, many in the army were her loyal fans and had heard many of her songs.
As Sophie Wexler’s stream exploded in popularity, the number of people following her on Karath’s StarNet was countless.
With more followers came more discussion. Her songs were undeniably beautiful, but there was one huge question surrounding her.
Because Sophie Wexler had never shown her face during her streams, no one knew who she was or what she looked like. Naturally, they were incredibly curious.
There were even many people on the StarNet who speculated that she must be too ugly to show her face, which was why she streamed without revealing it.
The soldiers were naturally just as curious, and many of them started wandering around the area early in the morning.
Because Felix York had given an order that no one except the guards could approach their residence, they only dared to wander around the perimeter, no matter how curious they were.
They hadn’t expected to see anything, but then, a figure suddenly came into view.
A woman came down from upstairs, stood in the courtyard, stretched lazily, and then looked around, seemingly a little curious herself.
Most of the men were training; only a few on break had snuck over to see Sophie Wexler.
The messages on one particular soldier’s communicator hadn’t stopped all morning.
In their small group chatroom:
[Hey man, did you see her or not? Why’d you go quiet?]
[She’s my goddess. Shouldn’t we like her for her songs? Why focus on her looks?]
[Of course the songs are great, but wouldn’t it be even better if she was beautiful too? I’m just curious, that’s all.]
[So what’s the deal? See anything yet?]
[Is the streamer really as ugly as they say on StarNet?]
Sophie Wexler sensed that someone was watching her. She turned and saw a person standing in the distance. Just as she was about to ask if he needed something, a voice came from behind her. "What are you doing out here?"
Cillian Forrest had come out at some point and was now standing behind Sophie Wexler.
Sophie Wexler let out a small "oh." "I woke up early, so I thought I’d take a walk."
"The equipment is ready," Cillian Forrest said to her. "Let’s go."
"Oh, okay. Let’s go," she replied, no longer paying attention to the person outside.
It wasn’t until their figures were out of sight that the soldier let out a sharp breath. His shoulders slumped instantly, and he wiped the sweat that had beaded on his forehead.
’Who was that? How is his spiritual power so terrifying!’ From the moment that man appeared, a powerful spiritual power had enveloped him.
Although it wasn’t aggressive, it carried an intense pressure that warned him not to act rashly.
The communicator on his wrist was still buzzing with messages. The soldier finally had a moment to reply: [Everything on StarNet is a lie!]
Who said she hides her face because she’s ugly? Based on what he just saw, even from a distance and without a clear view, he could tell she was beautiful.
The woman had a slender figure and a delicate, palm-sized face. Even with her features blurred by the distance, he could sense that her looks were absolutely extraordinary.
If someone like that was considered ugly, then there probably wasn’t a single good-looking person on all of Karath.
Sophie Wexler didn’t know that the question of her appearance had already kicked off a wave of discussion throughout the military base.
Right now, she was following behind Cillian Forrest, walking step by step toward the examination area.
"What if my Level isn’t very high?" Sophie Wexler asked, pursing her lips as she remembered Felix York’s reaction when he heard she was F-level yesterday.
"Don’t worry. The measured Level only represents your current stage. Don’t forget, you’re still in your secondary growth period."
The two of them soon arrived at the designated location, where Felix York and Ethan Cross were already waiting.
Seeing them approach, Felix York greeted Sophie Wexler, "Miss Wexler."
When his gaze fell on Cillian Forrest, he gave a barely perceptible nod filled with respect.
Cillian Forrest saw it and gave a slight nod in return.
The base’s Medical Masters were all around. Following their instructions, Sophie Wexler lay down on a bed, facing many machines she had never seen before.
Seeing the look on her face, Cillian Forrest said, "Don’t be nervous. Just relax."
Sophie Wexler: "Mm."
Everything was ready. Felix York looked to Cillian Forrest, who nodded.
Seeing this, Felix York said to the Medical Master, "Begin."
To prevent Sophie Wexler’s nervousness from affecting the fluctuations in her Spiritual Sea, they didn’t rush to test her Level. Instead, they started with some routine checkups.
The instruments beeped one after another. Sophie Wexler’s mind was clear as she heard the Medical Master say, "Miss Wexler’s body has no major problems. She’s just a bit weak, which should be due to excessive spiritual power consumption in the past."
Hearing this, Cillian Forrest turned to look at Sophie Wexler. Both times she had over-exhausted her spiritual power were because of him.
Ethan Cross saw the look in his Marshal’s eyes and immediately asked, "Are there any harmful effects?"
"None have been found so far," the Medical Master began, but then he turned and saw Cillian Forrest staring at him, so he quickly added, "But generally speaking, there are none."
"Over-consuming spiritual power weakens the body as a whole. Normally, as one’s spiritual power recovers, the body recovers along with it."
"Then why is she still weak?" Ethan Cross questioned.
"Well..." The Medical Master hesitated. "It is strange. Her body is somewhat weak, but her Spiritual Sea is full. It’s as if her body hasn’t kept pace with her Spiritual Sea’s recovery."
Cillian Forrest understood. It was because she had absorbed the Crystal Stone.
’She absorbed the Crystal Stone’s energy, which is why her Spiritual Sea is full, but her physical exhaustion hasn’t recovered yet.’
’It seems I can’t let her deplete her spiritual power like that again.’
At the same time, after the Medical Master finished his examination and confirmed there were no other issues with her body, he switched to a different machine.
The Medical Master looked at Sophie Wexler and said in a gentle voice, "Miss Wexler, now you just need to mobilize your spiritual power as much as you can."
"Okay," Sophie Wexler replied. She then closed her eyes, recalled the steps in her mind, and began to mobilize her spiritual power.
Almost everyone present held their breath, their eyes glued to the data in front of them.
It shot up from F-level, climbing with incredible speed!
The speed only began to slow as it went from E all the way to B, but it was still climbing steadily.
Felix York stood frozen in place, staring intently at the numbers, not daring to even blink.
The numbers crossed B and reached A.
Felix York’s excitement was beyond words.
Everyone knew it was harder for Healer-class individuals to reach Advanced levels compared to others. In the entire Empire, there were only a handful of High Rank Healer-class individuals.
Even on the Capital Planet, A-level was considered extremely high and was rarely achieved. S-level was even more unheard of; only one person had ever reached it—the current Emperor’s wife.
And yet Sophie Wexler, someone from a subsidiary planet, had reached A-level on her very first test!
Just as Felix York was marveling at this, the data began to climb again, slowly inching upwards.
This time, everyone truly held their breath, their hearts in their throats. ’Is it possible? That unbelievable result... is it really possible?’
The peak value crept slowly, bit by bit, over the line, and finally stopped!
S!!!
