Chapter 416: Trap
"What kind of surprise could you possibly have?"
Jiang Xinghai, of course, had no desire to go. He gestured dismissively toward the door. "How about I just escort you to the Government Office to turn yourself in?"
"Divine Doctor Jiang, I guarantee this surprise will move you! Just give me a chance," Liu Biao pleaded, sounding very anxious.
Jiang Xinghai said, "Don’t tell me your surprise is a woman."
"No, no, no, definitely not a woman. And even if it were, I could never find one as beautiful as the fairy by your side," Liu Biao said with a cunning smile.
Leng Ning, hearing the flattery, simply gave a cold smile.
"Haven’t seen you for a day, and you’ve already gotten so silver-tongued," Jiang Xinghai said, pulling Leng Ning into his arms.
"No, no, no, I’m just telling the truth! Divine Doctor Jiang and this fairy are a perfect match—a talented man and a beautiful woman, a pair made in heaven and forged on earth..." Liu Biao hurriedly piled on the compliments.
"Since he’s gone to the trouble of preparing a surprise for you, you should go. I’ll just stay here and watch the money." Leng Ning sat down nonchalantly, cupping her face in her hands with a small smile.
"Fine," Jiang Xinghai said, turning to Liu Biao.
"This way, Divine Doctor Jiang!"
Liu Biao could hardly contain his glee. He quickly opened the small back door and gestured for Jiang Xinghai to go first.
Just as the two of them left, one after the other, four burly men appeared in the restaurant.
"Hehehe, all alone, little sister?"
The leader of the group wore a lecherous grin as he sized Leng Ning up with malicious eyes.
Leng Ning paid them no mind, simply watching everything with detached indifference.
However, two of the four men sat down on either side of Leng Ning, as if to surround her.
"Come on, give your big brother a shoulder rub," the leader said, even more brazenly.
His two underlings, meanwhile, began shamelessly eyeing the leather bag of money on the floor.
Their ill intentions were obvious.
A flicker of coldness passed through Leng Ning’s eyes. She had clearly figured out what they were after.
"Stop dawdling. Grab the money first, then we’ll take turns with this woman," the leader sneered. All four of them had, of course, been sent by Liu Biao.
"I’d like to see you try."
Leng Ning’s voice was light, but an immense killing intent began to radiate from her.
In an instant, the four men’s legs went weak, and they collapsed right onto the floor.
’So strong!’
Cold sweat beaded on the four men’s backs as they stared blankly at Leng Ning.
If they had known Leng Ning was a Creation Realm Martial Arts expert, they wouldn’t have dared to cross her even if it cost them their lives.
"I didn’t want to start any trouble, but I certainly won’t be pushed around."
Leng Ning scoffed. "You four pieces of scum were sent by Liu Biao, weren’t you?"
"Yes, yes, yes."
"Please don’t kill us, ma’am!"
No matter how stupid these four were, they could now tell that Leng Ning was a Martial Arts expert.
"Whether I kill you or not depends on your performance," Leng Ning said, her face an emotionless mask.
"We’ll perform well!"
"We’ll definitely perform well!"
The four of them had never experienced such a powerful threat. They struggled to breathe, their faces pale.
"What is the trap Liu Biao set up?" Leng Ning asked bluntly.
The four men were startled. ’How does she know Liu Biao set a trap?’
"Do I need to repeat myself?" Leng Ning waved her hand again, and an invisible force locked firmly onto the four men.
The four felt as if their hearts were about to leap out of their chests.
"A cave! A python!"
「Meanwhile.」
Jiang Xinghai followed Liu Biao through the back and eventually came to a stop before a massive boulder.
He had already heard from Yan Qingshan that Liu Biao would be setting a trap for him today.
He was merely curious what the trap would be and hadn’t given it much thought.
Otherwise, he would have dragged Liu Biao to the Government Office to turn himself in long ago.
"Divine Doctor Jiang, there’s a cave behind this boulder. Inside is the surprise I told you about." Mysteriously, Liu Biao reached out and twisted a protruding stone that served as a mechanism.
RUMBLE!
The two-meter-high boulder shuddered, shaking off dust as it began to slide sideways to the right.
The inside of the cave was pitch-black, but a few specks glittered within, piquing Jiang Xinghai’s curiosity.
"Divine Doctor Jiang, my cousin discovered this place. He said these are the Spirit Stones that practitioners of Martial Arts desire most. Unfortunately, he lacked the ability to mine them and didn’t dare use heavy machinery, so it’s remained untouched until now," Liu Biao explained solemnly.
"Spirit Stones?" Jiang Xinghai took a deep breath.
Ahead, a faint, foul odor hung in the air.
"If they are indeed Spirit Stones, would that count as a pleasant surprise for you, Divine Doctor Jiang?" Liu Biao asked, bending over to hand him a flashlight.
"In that case, I’ll count it as a merit in your favor. You won’t have to turn yourself in. You’ll just need to lay out the entire network of people involved in this whole affair," Jiang Xinghai said, taking the flashlight and walking into the cave.
Liu Biao raised an eyebrow and smirked. "Then please take your time studying them, Divine Doctor Jiang. I won’t be joining you. Take care!"
He shot backward and twisted the protruding stone mechanism again.
BOOM!
The two-meter-high boulder crashed down, sealing Jiang Xinghai inside.
"Hahaha... Jiang Xinghai, you bastard! Once you’re in the belly of that giant python, I’ll set off some firecrackers to celebrate for you!" Liu Biao’s maniacal laughter echoed from outside the cave.
