CLANG!

The Mu Family’s iron gate was sent flying as a commercial van came barreling through.

"Who are those people? Are they after the Mu Family or Jiang Xinghai?"

Leng Ning’s expression changed drastically. She made to rush in, but Chuchu pulled her back.

"It doesn’t matter who they’re after. Don’t go in yet. We don’t want the Mu Family thinking we’re with them; it’ll be impossible to explain," Chuchu said, perfectly calm. "Besides, no matter who these people are targeting, Jiang Xinghai is here. He’s more than enough."

"You have that much faith in Jiang Xinghai’s strength?" Leng Ning’s brow furrowed.

"He’s already taken that step. He’s stronger than you," Chuchu said with a faint smile.

’So it’s true!’ Leng Ning fell into deep thought.

Suddenly, an explosive roar echoed from within the Mu Family courtyard.

"What rats dare trespass in my Mu Family’s home!"

Mu Qikun’s voice thundered through the air. Veins pulsed on his forehead as he stared at the van that had smashed through the gate and stopped before the villa’s entrance.

Mu Huang hurried over as well. "Qi Kun, these people are trouble. They don’t look like locals from Central State. Be careful."

"The Mu Family? What’s so great about them?"

A young man stepped out of the van, a sneer playing on his lips. "Who’s in charge of the Mu Family? Step forward. My young master has some questions for you."

"Who the hell are you? State your names, or don’t blame me for making sure you never leave this place," Mu Qikun threatened. He didn’t attack immediately, however, heeding Mu Huang’s advice and becoming more cautious.

"My young master’s name? It would scare you to death!" a pretty young woman chimed in as she hopped out of the van, crossing her arms haughtily.

"Such arrogance!"

Mu Qikun strode forward. "Then I’d like to hear just who this young master of yours is. Let’s see if he can scare me to death."

He unleashed a powerful aura, sending it surging toward the commercial van.

"Hmph!"

A cold snort came from the vehicle. A man with choppy, shoulder-length hair stepped out, his voice dripping with contempt. "A mere Venerable dares to act so presumptuously before me, Yan Duo? Kneel and beg for forgiveness. If your apology is sincere enough, I might consider sparing your pathetic life."

His voice was quiet, but every word was a clear threat.

Yan Duo!

Mu Qikun froze, his expression changing drastically.

The Yan Family!

Once, there were seven great Martial Arts families in Central State. The Yan Family was not only one of them, but their leader!

But twenty years ago, the entire Yan Family had relocated to the Provincial City. Why had they returned now?

And why had they come to the Mu Family?

"Is Yan Haifeng your grandfather?"

Just then, Mu Huang walked over slowly, her eyes fixed on the choppy-haired Yan Duo.

"You must be the Mu Family Patriarch, Grandma Mu. My grandfather mentioned you often. Back when you two were young... ahem..."

A strange glint appeared in Yan Duo’s eyes. He deliberately lowered his voice and glanced at Mu Qikun. "Ah, with your son present, it’s perfectly normal that you can’t react. My apologies, I was being thoughtless."

"You little punk, do you have a death wish?!" How could Mu Qikun tolerate someone mocking his own mother?

"Qi Kun, stand down."

Mu Huang placed a hand on Mu Qikun’s arm. "That’s right. When I was young, I had some history with that old madman, Yan Haifeng. It’s no secret."

Then, she glared at Yan Duo. "So, tell me. Why have you come barging into my home and making such a scene?"

"My grandfather heard there’s a Divine Doctor Jiang in Central State, and that he’s currently staying with your Mu Family. He sent me to invite him to the Provincial City. That’s all," Yan Duo said with a vague smile.

Hearing this, Mu Huang gave a cold laugh. "I knew it. The Mu Family has had no contact with your Yan Family for over twenty years. I was wondering what could possibly bring you here. So, you’ve come for Divine Doctor Jiang."

"Grandma Mu, my grandfather told me that out of respect for the history between our families, you would let me take Divine Doctor Jiang," Yan Duo said, his smile not reaching his eyes.

"Take him?"

Mu Huang’s cold smile widened. "Even if I didn’t stop you, you wouldn’t be able to take Divine Doctor Jiang."

"Is that so? Don’t tell me Divine Doctor Jiang is a martial artist himself?" Yan Duo’s eyes narrowed into a smile. "Just as I thought. Well then, no need for Grandma Mu to worry. You see, I brought a Yan Family Honored Guest Elder with me."

With that, he gave a grand wave of his hand. "Elder Liao, if you please."

A scruffy, full-bearded old man with a hunched back slowly emerged from the van. "Young Master Yan, I am here."

After a slight bow, he clasped his fists and looked at Mu Huang. "Patriarch Mu, it’s been a long time. I trust you’ve been well."

"Liao Guangzhi? Indeed, it has been a long time." Seeing him, Mu Huang understood everything.

’Liao Guangzhi has followed Yan Haifeng for over twenty years. After all this time, their bond must be stronger than ever.’

’And from the sound of Yan Duo’s tone, Liao Guangzhi’s power must have become immense.’

"Grandma Mu, where is Divine Doctor Jiang?" Yan Duo brought the conversation back on topic.

"Before we look for Divine Doctor Jiang, let’s talk about my Mu Family’s gate." Mu Huang turned to look at the iron gate that had been sent flying, her expression growing colder by the second.
