Chapter 452: Grandpa, Carry Me Out of the Car

Jiang Xinghai ignored Yan Duo.

It was true.

Aside from their respective duties, their trip to the Provincial City indeed included a visit to the Yan Family.

The Yan Family was not only Leng Ning's maternal grandfather's home but also the culprit behind the annihilation of her Leng Clan!

On a personal level, Leng Ning would never stand idly by.

And logically, the whole affair had started with Jiang Xinghai, as Yan Duo had once led men to the Mu Family in Central State because of him.

So, a visit to the Yan Family was non-negotiable, and they were going now.

After dealing with the trouble of the Yan Family, Jiang Xinghai could focus on his own affairs with fewer distractions.

「Half an hour later.」

Following Yan Duo's directions, Jiang Xinghai drove to the Yan Family estate.

The Yan Family's estate was situated in a prime location, an expansive villa complex with South Lake to the front and the city center to the rear.

The entrance to the Yan Family estate was brightly lit.

It was as if they were awaiting Yan Duo's return.

BEEP BEEP!

Jiang Xinghai drove up to the gate and honked.

Two Yan Family guards came forward to investigate.

"Open the gate! It's me!"

Yan Duo stuck his head out from the back seat.

"Young Master Yan is back!"

Upon seeing Yan Duo, the guards immediately bowed and opened the main gate.

Jiang Xinghai drove straight in.

The panel van carrying three ice coffins followed close behind.

The main courtyard of the Yan Family estate was also brightly lit.

A group led by Yan Haifeng broke into smiles upon seeing the two vehicles drive in and strode forward to greet them.

"Du'Er!"

"Grandfather!"

"Haha, you're finally here!"

"Grandfather!"

Yan Duo and Yan Haifeng called out to each other before they had even met face-to-face.

Unfortunately, Yan Duo had lost his limbs. Without assistance, he was completely unable to get out of the car.

"Du'Er, why aren't you getting out of the car?"

Yan Haifeng had already sensed that things weren't so simple. His expression chilled slightly as he quickened his pace.

Just then, Jiang Xinghai stepped out of the car, blocking Yan Haifeng's path. "You must be Patriarch Yan."

"I am."

Yan Haifeng looked at the young Jiang Xinghai and asked doubtfully, "You are the Divine Doctor Jiang Xinghai?"

"'Divine Doctor' is an exaggeration. I'm just a humble healer," Jiang Xinghai said nonchalantly.

"You're too modest, Divine Doctor Jiang!" Yan Haifeng said, sizing Jiang Xinghai up and nodding to himself.

'So this is Jiang Xinghai, the man with god-like medical skills. And a rare Alchemist, at that. So young and so accomplished!'

"Du'Er!" Yan Haifeng stroked his sparse beard, his gaze sweeping across the car's interior.

Yan Duo!

His grandson.

But there was no one else.

"Grandfather, please carry me out of the car," Yan Duo said, his eyes filled with urgency.

"Carry you out?" Yan Haifeng thought he had misheard and took two steps forward.

'What's going on?'

When he pulled open the car door and saw Yan Duo trussed up in bandages like a mummy, the places where his limbs should have been now empty, he froze on the spot.

"Grandfather, I'm hurt," Yan Duo said, not daring to recount his ordeal in front of Jiang Xinghai.

Before coming here, his master, Yan Qingshan, had already warned him and ordered him to obey Jiang Xinghai's commands alone.

"Du'Er! What in God's name happened?!"

Yan Haifeng let out a hysterical roar, his face turned toward the sky.

His once-neat white hair seemed to move without a wind, standing up sharply on his head. "Who?! Tell your grandfather, who wounded you so grievously?!"

At his roar, bodyguards who had been lying in ambush all around the Yan estate revealed themselves and charged toward them.

If Yan Haifeng gave the order, this force of at least a hundred Yan Family bodyguards would descend upon them with rabid, lethal intent.

"Grandfather, it was just an accident. Please don't worry." Yan Duo was miserable, but he didn't dare speak the truth.

Such was the life of a slave. The slightest thought of defiance would bring a splitting headache at best, and at worst, instant death on the spot.

"Let Grandfather hold you."

Yan Haifeng had a strong suspicion this was related to Jiang Xinghai!

'His grandson, Yan Duo, must not be telling the truth because he's being threatened by Jiang Xinghai!'

'Who else could it be?'

'Could it be Leng Ning?'

'That granddaughter of his, with whom he'd never felt any familial bond?'

As Yan Haifeng lifted Yan Duo from the car with both arms, tears streamed down the old man's face.

The other clan members present saw the once-unassailable young master of the Yan Family now reduced to a limbless torso.

One by one, they stood rooted to the spot, practically petrified.

'Who?'

'Who would dare to disregard the power of the Yan Family in the Provincial City?'

'To think they would cripple the future heir of the Yan Family, turning him into a useless wreck!'

"Du'Er, you can tell me what happened after you've had some rest."

Yan Haifeng suppressed his booming voice and asked, "But first, tell Grandfather, where are your three grandfathers? Didn't they return with you? Why can't we get through to their phones, even now? Tell me!"

"Grandfather…"

Yan Duo suddenly turned his head toward the panel van, his voice trembling. "Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grandfather… they're all in that truck."

"That's right. Yan Haichuan, Yan Haibin, and Yan Haixuan are all in this truck."

Just then, Leng Ning hopped down from the panel van's driver's seat. "Patriarch Yan, why don't you be the one to open the back?"

"You're… Ning'Er!" Yan Haifeng exclaimed, his eyes fixed on her.

He never expected that this granddaughter, for whom he'd never felt an ounce of affection, would come as well.
