Chapter 485: Come In, Am I Going to Eat You?
「On the way.」
Jiang Xinghai received a call from Yu Li.
Yu Li praised Jiang Xinghai for driving away the troublemakers from the Wei Family’s Runmei Company.
Then, she brought up her Gu poisoning. "Half a year ago, a good friend of my father’s, Qiao Sihai, came from Yun Province to stay with us for a few days. I suspect he’s the one who planted the Gu in me."
"Qiao Sihai. Got it. Once I get to Yun Province tomorrow, I’ll investigate him closely." Jiang Xinghai was already heading to Yun Province to find the War Department traitor, Arhat, and hopefully learn his parents’ whereabouts.
Investigating Qiao Sihai and helping Yu Li escape the suffering of the Poisonous Gu while he was there wouldn’t be much trouble.
"Okay. I’ll send you more information on Qiao Sihai later," Yu Li said, her voice filled with gratitude.
’If I hadn’t met Jiang Xinghai, I might have left this world forever in just three more weeks.’
"By the way, I was just thinking... I might have been wrong about something," Jiang Xinghai said, a little sheepishly.
"Wrong about what?" A sudden surge of hope filled Yu Li.
Jiang Xinghai gave an awkward laugh. "Of course, it was just a rough guess. I can’t be sure, so it’s still best to deal with the Gu in your body within three weeks."
"Just tell me what you think you were wrong about," Yu Li said urgently.
"I suspected the person who planted the Gu was after your body’s constitution. But when I examined you this morning, it didn’t seem to be anything special. So... I can only make a wild guess at this point," Jiang Xinghai admitted, embarrassed.
"My constitution...? What, you thought I had a special constitution?" Yu Li asked with a resigned smile.
"If it’s not because of a special constitution, then there’s only one other reason they’d plant a Gu in you: they want you dead," Jiang Xinghai stated bluntly.
Hearing this, Yu Li’s heart went cold.
"If the person who planted the Gu really is Qiao Sihai, you need to think about what kind of grudge he might have against the Yu Family. If there’s no grudge, then he must be after something of yours." Jiang Xinghai hadn’t figured it out either.
’Unless the Poisonous Insect in Yu Li’s body was preventing me from determining if her constitution was special.’

"Divine Doctor Jiang, I understand. I’ll think it over carefully in the next few days." Yu Li let out a slow breath. "Take care of yourself while you’re away. I’ll message you as soon as I think of anything."
"Alright. You take care, too."
Just as Jiang Xinghai was about to end the call, Yu Li suddenly remembered something.
"Wait, there’s something else, something important."
Her expression turned very serious. "Um, I just saw the bounty the Sun Family posted..."
"That’s me," Jiang Xinghai replied simply.
"Ah!"
Until now, it had only been a guess for Yu Li. She never expected Jiang Xinghai to admit it so readily.
’What does this mean?’
’It means Jiang Xinghai trusts me completely.’
"Don’t worry. When I get back from Yun Province, I’ll pay them a visit myself. A hundred million for my head... They’re really looking down on me," Jiang Xinghai joked.
"..." Yu Li was still worried for his safety, but he didn’t seem to take it seriously at all.
"If there’s nothing else, I’m hanging up." Jiang Xinghai was about to arrive at Shanhe University.
"If the Sun Family really finds out it’s you, I’ll use the Yu Family’s influence. While I might not be able to make it go away completely, I can at least buy you enough time to come back and handle it." Yu Li pursed her lips, determined to do this for him.
Jiang Xinghai thought for a moment. "Alright then. If you can’t keep it under wraps, just give them my name. You can tell them I’ll be back soon."
Having agreed on a plan, they ended the call.
Jiang Xinghai parked his car to the right of the university’s main gate, right where Jishan Hall’s Provincial City branch was located.
A glance through the door showed that business wasn’t busy.
Fortunately, Jiang Xinghai had set Lin Liping up as a distributor for the Anti-Aging Cream. It was clear that more customers were here to buy the cream than to seek medical consultation.
Jiang Xinghai smoked a cigarette outside, choosing not to go in.
Now that the Sun Family’s bounty was out, he was worried that if he interacted with Lin Liping too much, someone might notice and drag her into his troubles.
After all, he was leaving tomorrow and wouldn’t be back for at least a week.
There were still a few customers inside the shop.
Lin Liping saw Jiang Xinghai arrive from inside the shop and was just about to greet him.
But Jiang Xinghai put a finger to his lips in a hushing gesture.
Then, he returned to his car and dialed Lin Liping’s number.
"Why are you calling when you’re right there? Come on in, it’s not like I’m going to eat you," Lin Liping answered immediately.
"Feel like making a hundred million?" A slight smile touched the corners of Jiang Xinghai’s mouth.
"A hundred million? Of course I do, but I also know there’s no such thing as a free lunch. Money isn’t always that easy to come by, unless a strong wind blows it your way." Lin Liping stayed inside, simply watching Jiang Xinghai in his car.
"You probably haven’t heard yet, but there’s a hundred-million bounty on my head," Jiang Xinghai said with a teasing smile.
"Pah! Are you crazy? Don’t say such awful things." Lin Liping’s face hardened as she glared at him.
