Chapter 353: A Small Goal
The release of the two headline stories not only quelled the public’s outrage but also revealed to the world that Little Chef was the embodiment of justice.
The news swept through the city and the nation in an instant.
「Meanwhile, in Jizhou, at the Shen Family estate.」
Jiang Xinghai had rushed back, arriving at dawn.
Even though he had decided to stay in Central State for a while, he needed to say his goodbyes properly first.
Shen Zhengye and Qiao Huimin walked over together.
"Jiang, you’ve been up all night. You haven’t rested, have you? Go and get some sleep." Concern was evident in Shen Zhengye’s eyes.
He already knew what had transpired since the previous night.
"Uncle, for a martial artist, going a few days without rest is nothing. I don’t need the sleep." Jiang Xinghai shook his head and looked expectantly toward the second floor. "Is Lingxue still cultivating?"
"No, she went to the AM company last night. They’re ramping up production of the Intermediate Anti-Aging Cream, and there are a lot of new workers to train. She insisted on handling it all personally, and I couldn’t stop her," Shen Zhengye said with a wry smile.
"That’s right. The Intermediate Anti-Aging Cream is already in production. It’ll be ready to launch tomorrow," Jiang Xinghai nodded.
’The standard Anti-Aging Cream is 99 a box. Pricing the Intermediate one at 150... that’s not unreasonable, is it?’
"Jiang, when do you plan on moving to Central State?" Shen Zhengye asked, his reluctance to see him go apparent.
"I’ll be leaving after the Intermediate Anti-Aging Cream launches tomorrow." Jiang Xinghai was direct.
’He could finally leave Jizhou without any worries now.’
’Once in Central State, he needed to personally cultivate those spiritual medicines.’
’It would be even better if he could use the accumulated energy of his Thousand Derivation Spiritual Body to break through to the next level.’
’Otherwise, he would have to rely on the energy from the spiritual medicines to attempt a breakthrough.’
’After that, he had to quickly lay out his plans for the trip to the Imperial City.’
’There was still no news about his parents.’
’Mr. Long of the Black Cloak would be located soon. His two senior sisters were handling both that and the search for his parents, so he didn’t need to worry about them.’
’However, he still needed to grow stronger himself.’
’He had set a small goal for himself: to at least reach the Celestial Destiny Realm.’
’Right now, he had just reached the late stage of the Creation Realm; he was still a good distance from its peak.’
"In that case, why don’t we throw a big party tonight? We can invite Elder Du and the others over and have a lively get-together." The idea came to Shen Zhengye suddenly, and he felt a gathering was necessary.
"Whatever you think is best, Uncle."
Jiang Xinghai agreed. "Oh, and Uncle, I was thinking of transferring several of the Shentu Family’s companies into your name."
"The Shentu Family’s assets..." Shen Zhengye’s brow furrowed. "Can the Shen Family really handle all that?"
"Are you worried the Central State Martial Arts Families will cause trouble?" Jiang Xinghai smiled.
Shen Zhengye’s expression was noncommittal. "Of the Six Great Martial Arts Families, the Shentu Family is gone, and the Qiu and Li Families are our own people. But the remaining three—the Su, Huang, and Lv Families—are as solid as a fortress and incredibly united. If they decide to trip us up from the shadows, it would be impossible to guard against."
"Let’s hope they know to keep their heads down. If not, I wouldn’t mind making those three families disappear from Central State, too," Jiang Xinghai said with a casual smile.
"Jiang, are you really going to do all this for our Shen Family?" Shen Zhengye was once again touched, his heart swelling with emotion.
"To be honest with you, Uncle, little Jizhou is just the starting point. Even Central State is merely a stepping stone. If I have enough time, I will make the Shen Family the number one family in the Provincial City, and perhaps even in the Imperial City," Jiang Xinghai said with gravity.
He wasn’t joking.
The Shen Family had once saved his parents’ lives—a debt of gratitude so immense it was as if they had given him a new life.
Protecting the Shen Family and helping it grow stronger was only right and proper.
It was only a matter of managing his time.
"I never imagined that a simple, unintentional act of saving your parents all those years ago would bring such blessings in return..." Every time Shen Zhengye thought of it, he was filled with emotion.
"Uncle, let’s not talk about this topic anymore."
Jiang Xinghai casually picked up a pack of cigarettes from the coffee table. After a moment’s hesitation, he silently lit one.
’So much for the promise he’d made to Shen Lingxue.’
"Since you’re going to be staying in Central State, and the Shen Family plans to expand there as well, why not let Lingxue be in charge of our affairs there?" Shen Zhengye changed the subject, raising an issue that needed to be addressed.
Jiang Xinghai gave an awkward smile. "Uncle, it’s not good for Lingxue to overwork herself right now."
"Oh?"
Shen Zhengye froze.
Qiao Huimin seemed to catch the implication. "Jiang, don’t tell me... is Lingxue pregnant?"
"That’s it! Lingxue must be pregnant," Shen Zhengye realized, his face lighting up with a joyous surprise.
"Actually, we’re still trying."
Jiang Xinghai took a drag from his cigarette and lowered his head, slightly embarrassed. "Of course, I’m confident we’ll have an answer in about half a month."
"Hahaha..."
"That’s wonderful!"
Shen Zhengye and his wife, Qiao Huimin, were even more excited than Jiang Xinghai.
"As for who will head the Shen Family’s operations in Central State, I suggest Lingyin," Jiang Xinghai proposed. "She’s a freshman in Central State, so she can oversee things part-time. We’d just need to find someone trustworthy to manage the day-to-day business. What do you think, Uncle?"
