Chapter 463: Not Only Kill Me, But Also Kill You
"As for how I found out, my third senior sister told me, of course."
Jiang Xinghai had mentioned to Leng Ning before that his third senior sister was in the Imperial City, so he wasn’t hiding anything.
"So the information is reliable!"
Leng Ning’s gaze flickered. "You just said the Black Cloak headquarters was purged? How extensive was the purge?"
"So extensive that even Mr. Hu and Miss Feng couldn’t handle it. In the end, it drew out the Mr. Long who was rumored to have died five years ago," Jiang Xinghai whispered.
The color drained from Leng Ning’s face when she heard this. "He... He really faked his death back then..."
Just as Jiang Xinghai was about to speak, the waiter approached.
"Please enjoy, you two."
The waiter set down two cups of coffee, bowed slightly, and left.
Jiang Xinghai then said, "So, I’ve gotten the answers I wanted. You and Chuchu don’t have to risk your lives in the Black Cloak anymore."
"You found out Mr. Long’s true identity?" Leng Ning was shocked again.
Jiang Xinghai nodded heavily. "Not only that, but I also have news about my parents’ whereabouts."
"That’s wonderful! Congratulations!" Leng Ning was genuinely happy for Jiang Xinghai.
But then, the image of Maitreya Buddha’s cold smirk suddenly flashed through her mind.
"Right, there’s something that feels very wrong to me. If the Black Cloak headquarters in the Imperial City was purged, why is Maitreya Buddha so unshaken? And why is she still so persistent about getting information from you?" Leng Ning voiced her doubts.
"That part’s simple."
Jiang Xinghai nodded and analyzed the situation. "In the eyes of the Black Cloak, even if headquarters was purged, their mission must continue. After all, the secret my parents carry is worth any price to them."
As he spoke, a blood-red glint flashed in his eyes.
Just to obtain a key to the secrets of the Celestial Profound Realm, his so-called uncle, Ji Xiao, was willing to disregard their blood ties and cruelly harm his own sister—Jiang Xinghai’s mother!
It was an unforgivable crime!
"From now on, you should leave the Black Cloak. You don’t have to put yourself in danger anymore." Jiang Xinghai took Leng Ning’s hand.
"I can’t, not yet."
But Leng Ning shook her head decisively. "At the very least, I have to remain a member until the Black Cloak is completely destroyed. Otherwise, my betrayal would bring a fatal blow to the Leng Family of Central State."
"The Black Cloak really is powerful!"
Jiang Xinghai understood Leng Ning’s difficult position, of course, and an oppressive aura involuntarily erupted from him.
It was so intense that the very air around them seemed to freeze.
The nearby customers suddenly found themselves in distress, their breathing constricted.
Not wanting to harm innocents, Jiang Xinghai let out a heavy sigh.
Only then did the other customers slowly recover, their faces pale with shock.
"It’s okay. I’ll just lay low in the Black Cloak for now. Once you’re strong enough to destroy them, I’ll naturally be free." Leng Ning offered a self-reassuring smile to Jiang Xinghai.
"I’m afraid you might have to wait a while longer. I’m leaving tomorrow morning, and I’m not sure when I’ll be back." Jiang Xinghai had to leave the next day.
"Where are you going? I’ll go with you," Leng Ning said immediately.
Jiang Xinghai shook his head. "No, I’m going abroad for a few days. It’s not a good idea for you to come with me. You should stay here."
"In that case, help me take care of someone tonight." Leng Ning didn’t insist, knowing Jiang Xinghai operated by his own principles.
"Of course. Whoever you want to take care of, we’ll go after them." Jiang Xinghai sipped his coffee, curious to know who had provoked Leng Ning.
"Maitreya Buddha."
Leng Ning set down her coffee cup. "Last night, she warned me that if I couldn’t get information about your parents within seven days, she would not only kill me but also cut you down with her own hands..."
"Kill not only you but me too? Where does that crazy old hag get her confidence?" A blood-red glint flashed in Jiang Xinghai’s eyes.
He had long wanted to see just what kind of ’Buddha’ this Maitreya Buddha truly was.
"But her strength is at least at the Creation Realm. I feel like her confidence is growing stronger and stronger, though, so we should be careful tonight." Leng Ning didn’t want to be careless.
If this matter wasn’t resolved, it would be a huge problem.
"Then why wait until this evening?" Jiang Xinghai put down his coffee cup.
"Now?"
Leng Ning was momentarily stunned. "Alright. The sooner we send her to see Yama, the sooner we can focus on other things."
"Let’s go."
They instantly agreed and walked out of the coffee shop.
In front of their Land Rover stood a woman with her hair in a ponytail, wearing a crisp blazer and holding a briefcase.
"Mr. Jiang, your documents."
The woman in the blazer raised her hand and passed the briefcase to Jiang Xinghai.
"You know me?" Jiang Xinghai frowned.
"I’m from the War Department. I was ordered by General Zhong to deliver these documents to you," the woman said with a smile.
Jiang Xinghai slowly relaxed. His second senior sister, Zhong Yunman, had told him someone would be delivering new identification documents to him soon.
"Thank you for your trouble." Jiang Xinghai nodded with a smile.
The woman in the blazer waved and departed.
Jiang Xinghai opened the briefcase and couldn’t help but chuckle when he saw the name on the ID: "Xiao Chunan."
’Xiao Chunan... as in, Little Chef?’
His second senior sister’s intention was clear: she wanted him to disguise himself as the Little Chef from before.
