Chapter 440: Don’t Go If You Have Guts
"Finally, some peace and quiet." Shen Lingyin stuck her tongue out playfully.
"Wait, you guys really threw them out?" Zhang Rui was still processing what had just happened.
She had only been threatening them; she never imagined they would actually go through with it.
"What’s the matter, Zhang Rui? Do they have some powerful backing or something?" Shen Lingyin asked, unconcerned.
"Not incredibly powerful on their own, but it involves the families of all six of them. If they band together, they can be a real problem." Zhang Rui rushed to the windowsill and leaned over to look down.
Downstairs, the three men and three women who had been thrown out were howling and cursing.
"Zhang Rui, you’ve got some fucking nerve!"
"If you have any balls, you’ll stay right there! We’ll be back!"
After all, these men and women were practitioners of Martial Arts, so their lives weren’t in danger. They only suffered some external injuries and were crying out in pain.
"You’d better not come back!" Zhang Rui yelled, then turned to look at Jiang Xinghai.
Jiang Xinghai said nothing. He frowned at the hot pot on the table, then stood up. "Let’s get a different room. I’ve lost my appetite for this one after all that yelling."
The others looked embarrassed. When they left the room, the lobby manager was waiting outside, looking completely dumbfounded.
"Sirs, Ma’ams... what you just did..." The lobby manager’s expression was grim.
Zhang Rui said, "It’s exactly as you saw. Some people were being disrespectful, so they were thrown out."
"Hiss... But I believe those people are from..." The manager’s face grew darker.
Zhang Rui waved her hand dismissively. "My father is Zhang Shangfeng of the Zhang Martial Arts Hall. The Zhang Family will pay double for any damages. Is there anything else to discuss? Now, hurry up and get us a quieter room."
"Ah, so you’re the young miss of the Zhang Family. Very well, please follow me." Although the manager was still apprehensive, he did as he was told.
Ultimately, Jiang Xinghai and his three companions were led to a private room in the deepest part of the third floor.
The room was over fifty square meters. In a prime location in Central State, where every inch of land was worth its weight in gold, a private room of this size was an incredible luxury.
Everyone sat down, and the lobby manager came in personally to light the hot pot stove.
"You should know, there’s a good chance they’ll be back for revenge," the manager reminded them tentatively.
"Let them come. If they do, just bring them straight here. As for any damages, we’ll cover it, double the cost," Zhang Rui declared with a grand wave of her hand.
Only then did the manager break into a smile. "Understood."
"Zhang Rui, you really need to be more careful about the company you keep," Shen Lingyin said, shaking her head.
Zhang Rui looked embarrassed. "It’s all my fault."
"It’s not your fault," Mu Jianni said. "They were just too ignorant."
"But don’t worry, my father will be here soon. I’m sure that even if their families band together for revenge, we’ll be fine," Zhang Rui said, glancing up at Jiang Xinghai.
"That won’t be necessary."
Jiang Xinghai shook his head. "Tell your father that I’ll be fine here. He should pack his things as quickly as possible."
"Okay." Zhang Rui didn’t ask any questions and immediately made the call.
The lobby manager glanced at Jiang Xinghai.
’What an arrogant man!’
After turning to leave, his suspicions grew. ’Telling Zhang Shangfeng to pack his things... could they be planning to leave overnight?’
He hurried downstairs and called his boss.
「Meanwhile.」
Back in the private room, Jiang Xinghai and his companions gathered around the hot pot in the center of the table and began to savor their meal.
The spices in the pot had simmered perfectly, and a rich, mellow aroma filled the air.
Jiang Xinghai was the first to act. He picked up a slice of lamb with his chopsticks and dipped it into the boiling broth. He let it bob up and down a few times, waiting until the vibrant red of the meat deepened to a dark crimson. Only then did he lift it out, dip it in sauce, and pop it into his mouth.
A satisfied smile spread across his face, like a connoisseur savoring a fine wine. His taste buds danced, as if revealing the secrets of the dish’s deliciousness. "The flavor is excellent," he said.
They ate and chatted, the steam and aroma of the hot pot mingling with their lighthearted conversation.
However, the peaceful atmosphere didn’t last long.
Suddenly, a figure burst into the private room—it was the lobby manager.
"All four of you, get downstairs now! Immediately!"
The manager’s face was a mask of desperation. "Those people are back for revenge! They’re telling you to get your asses downstairs, and if you don’t, they’re going to smash up the whole restaurant!"
"If they want revenge, tell them to get their asses up here," Jiang Xinghai said, turning to the manager.
"Are you kidding me? At a time like this?"
The manager retorted angrily, "I know you’re not just anybody, but to this restaurant, you’re nothing! And that includes the Zhang Family!"
He was just in charge of the restaurant’s operations. If something went wrong, his boss would have his head!
"Get out!"
Jiang Xinghai had been reasonably satisfied with the manager’s attitude up to this point. But he loathed being disturbed during a meal, especially by the insolence of someone who didn’t know their place. He raised his hand, and a wave of force blasted past.
The manager was sent flying right out the door.
"You... you..."
A cold sweat drenched the manager. Completely unharmed, he scrambled to his feet and tumbled his way down the stairs.
"Boss, if you don’t get here now, our restaurant’s going to be torn apart! This guy is strong... really strong!" the manager yelled into his phone as he stumbled down the stairs.
He was a Martial Arts practitioner himself, and he had just realized how extraordinary Jiang Xinghai truly was.
