The World of Masks

New discovery

Gil Greyett, who was a physics professor at MIT, was young and ambitious. He was always thirsty for success and performance, although I don't know if he had been rumored to be a genius since childhood. People around us say it was successful enough to get a teaching position at MIT at a young age. I wasn't wrong. But she wasn't satisfied enough. People from all over the world, such as Newton and Einstein, not MIT's proofreader, knew their names and praised their accomplishments and wanted to be successful enough to be named in the textbook. For him, the request for portal research cooperation from the U.S. government was unfortunate.

An unknown energy substance that suddenly appeared one day to spit out monsters. The portal, which is very likely to be linked to aliens, was something that Grey was very curious about. If we could analyze this guy successfully, maybe his dream would come true. Even if it wasn't that far, it could have been a step closer to the dream. He accepted a request from the U.S. government, abandoning even the lecture. The students were not important at the moment. It was definitely a problem for the professor to abandon the lecture because he did not know the lecture, but there was no reason to insult him. Who can blame the research done for the world? Grey is on a plane right now. The target was one of four portals secured by the U.S. military in the Rockies.

"Huff, huff!"

Greyett struggled to climb the Rocky Mountains because he was stuck in the lab every day studying. Fortunately, we have arranged for us to make our way to the portal more accessible to the Americans. If the forest where the troops that took it had remained, Greyett would not have made it anywhere near it. The experimental equipment was fortunate to have been able to reduce the weight of the accompanying assistant (using the professor's authority unilaterally). After a long walk with a small twitch, you arrive at a place where soldiers roam around.

"Phew!"

Deep breaths, Greyett recklessly sits on a nearby fallen tree. It appears to be a tree that was cut down while clearing the area. There was still sticky fluid flowing through the cut section of the tree.

The soldier who was accompanied to guide the way left to report to the leader. You'll have to come say hello, but she really can't move on. The soldier he was accompanying understood, so he was able to rest his weary body.

He takes a deep breath and looks around to see where he'll be staying.

The surroundings were completely fortified. A fierce heavy machine gun and mortar cannon were installed, and all the weapons the soldiers were carrying were not ordinary rifles, but destructive support weapons. The seriousness is built around the portal, surrounded by obstacles and weapons. It was completely different from the usual seriousness to defend against external attacks. I didn't even see the barbed wire, which appeared essentially when I was defending. Due to the nature of monsters with super-strength and super-defense abilities, the barbed wire didn't even snap their ankles. However, trenches were dug because individuals were often identified capable of ranged attacks such as lightning and flames.

Grayett looks around and sees a group of soldiers coming this way. Grayett rises to his feet, expecting him to be in charge. A little rest allowed me to move my body.

"Greetings. I'm Captain Gordon Spitch, in charge of the defense here." "

"My name is Gil Grey, I teach at MIT."

Greyett shakes his hand lightly as Captain Spitt grips it.

"Follow me. We will escort you to the portal. Others have already been investigated."

It also seemed that the U.S. government did not only call on itself.

'Of course, I'm not a very exceptional scholar yet .'

The position of Professor MIT certainly gives great authority, but it is not the only one.

Greyett moves diligently along Captain Spitch. The muscles are still screaming, but the desire to see the portal gives rise. The Pokémon moves past a stack of defense lines. In fact, it was when I saw some people who looked like scientists moving busily across the defense line.

Aah! Aah!

The sound of sirens tearing your eardrums. Greyett stops. I was quite familiar with the sirens, such as police cars, fire trucks, and ambulances, but this one was different. He was heavier and more gloomy than he had heard.

"Ambush!"

The soldiers' movements are imminent. Scientists evacuated in a hurry. At that moment, Grey could see. The invisible portal is causing deformation because it is held low on the floor while contracting the body.

It was a very mysterious sight. The swirling energies spilling the blue particles gradually grew in size. She can't take her eyes off the portal.

"Professor, you need to evade immediately!"

Captain Spitch grips Grayett's shoulder, staring at the portal, and drags him back. Then you turn your head to summon the soldier next to you.

"Get the professor to safety!"

"Four!"

A soldier with orders pulls her out. Greyett is dragged away, but can't take his eyes off the portal. I almost fell a few times because I couldn't look straight ahead, but I couldn't take my eyes off it. It was overwhelming, it was.

Whoo-hoo!

The portal radiates as it vibrates.

Chug, chug, chug!

The soldiers reload their weapons and look at the portal with tense eyes.

Huff!

The portal spits something out with the light. It was about three metres in size, with six legs like columns and claws like a sickle on the arms, and all I could think of was the word "monster."

Kuruah!

Monsters roar as they feel new environments, new lands and new atmospheres.

"Fire!"

As soon as the command is issued, the firearms start blazing together.

Boom, boom! Boom, boom!

Two or two!

Mortar shells, anti-tank shells, and more have fallen to monsters and their surroundings. Dozens of heavy machine guns were fired in a row. It was too much firepower to use to kill a single creature, but if it was a monster, it would be different. Greyett leans into the trenches, his torso clogging his ears. The sound of bombs and bullets was much louder than the one I heard in the movie. I felt like I was losing my mind.

"Cease fire! Cease fire!"

How long has it been? Cease fire orders have been issued. Until then, she's been hiding in the trenches. It's only a matter of time before the soldiers get a clear shot, but Grayett feels like an hour has passed.

One, two, foam stops. Greyett gently pushes out his face as the foam clears completely. Smells of gunpowder and smoke surround the area. Focused shooting spots were slashed here and there and there, and the remains of a monster were completely decomposed above them.

A few soldiers carefully approach the corpse of the monster. You throw the stone before it gets too close. I approached the monster and touched it with my feet, even though it hit me with a stone. The monster remains motionless. The approaching soldiers sigh and wave heavily at the other soldiers. With a sigh here and there, you retrieve the weapons aimed at the monsters. Greyett glances at the monsters' corpses and portals.

After a massive attack, the portal remains intact. Turning back to the small size like before, it seemed to be squirming as if something had just happened.

"Are you all right?"

Greyett looks back in horror. Captain Spitch rises to his feet, clearing his throat, wondering if he was foolish.

"That's okay, I've never seen a monster fight before "

The spit nods as if to understand, and then guides her back to the portal. It was not a pleasant thing to walk around where monsters' blood, flesh, and intestines were scattered and still smelled like black powder. Grey frowns. But he didn't complain much. It was because I thought it was a test I had to overcome in order to fulfill my own dream, with the fear that I might vomit my complaint and fall out of this study.

You follow Captain Spitch to the portal. There were already a few people walking around. Among the majority of the soldiers cleaning up the battlefield, you can see an old man who is old enough to sigh and turn the monster's corpse upside down.

"Oh, Captain."

He looks at the spit and walks with an impression.

"Sister said, can't you make the firepower a little weaker? This piece of meat is a huge disruption to our research."

A spit that listens to the old man's words makes him look worse than the old man. He sighed and said to the old man,

"Professor Nitton. I've told you before, but that's not possible. I'm really sorry to hear that your research is compromised, but it's for everyone's safety. Remind me again what happened on the second portal."

"Hnng."

The old man grunts in a determined spit. The distorted face turned into a reflection.

"Is there really no way?"

"Absolutely not."

Colonel Spitt cuts through him like a knife. The old man mumbles and starts turning the monster's corpse around again.

Grayett asks, sticking close behind Colonel Spitch.

"Who is that old man?"

"Professor Nieton, professor of biology at Yale. You're studying monsters."

Greyett understood why the old man had turned the monster's corpse upside down.

"I thought you had something to complain about."

"It's simple. You want the body of the monster to be as healthy as possible. Maybe that's better to study."

Greyett turns his head and looks back at the monster's corpse. It was hard to say that the body that was completely mopped was definitely a good specimen.

"Clearly, it was badly damaged."

"I can't help it. Unless we finish the monster, there may be damage here. In fact, at the request of a scientist, a particularly strong individual emerged from the second portal, which had reduced its firepower. Two of the squadrons guarding the second portal were devastated, and many of the scientists who were civil partners were killed. Since then, no monster at the top has been ordered to short-term exterminate with maximum firepower."

"I see."

Perhaps that was the case at the second portal that Colonel Spitt told Professor Knighton earlier. With the battle he just had and the story he is telling, Greyett has come to realize that his place is never safe.

The two of them arrive near the portal, crossing a hard ground where cannonballs can't be beaten. Around you, scientists like Greyett have been working hard on the portal.

"Here you go, Professor. This is the first portal."

According to Spitt, she's one step closer. The portal, which he thought would make his dream come true, was finally the moment he saw it coming.

Poor monsters.

As soon as you get out of the sea treatment, you see the juggling melting into the sea tank.
