"Alchemy? What if you're going to be an alchemist?

"Oh, it's only half a serving."

When I answered that, Branch Supervisor looked pitifully at me.

Pity or contempt...... anyway, no good impression eyes.

"... reconsider. You are still young. You don't have to be with a bunch of scumbags like that, money-keepers, cowards who make a profit without even going out into the labyrinth, do you?

I see.

I didn't know Branch Supervisor would make such a statement... it seems true that the Alliance is taking a light-hearted look at the Alchemist.

Well, this branch superintendent takes a lighter look at the alchemist for other reasons - the point may be that it's less profitable for the guild.

As far as the paperwork behind it goes, the guild's track record seems to be what adventurers make.

For the Branch Manager, it's better to have more adventurers who can be disposable than alchemists.

But that doesn't matter to me.

"Sorry, I want to dive into the labyrinth as an alchemist. Can't you do that?

"... let's say it again. Alchemists are a bunch of scumbags, fighters, money keepers, human trash, and cowards. Compared to those guys, wild dogs around there are more useful as much as they can kill and eat. Still, are you going to be an alchemist?

Branch Supervisor flips in a strong tone and stares at me.

If you're a mindless young man, you might just give up being an alchemist already with this.

But unfortunately, I've lived a hundred years.

I don't feel any compelling where I was stared at by such a young creation.

All I have is discomfort.

"Oh, I'm looking for a single alchemist."

"Right."

That said, the Branch Supervisor nodded like he'd given up - with my face on, throwing a piece of paper at him.

I take the paper before it hits my face and see what's in it.

Crude paper had maps on it.

"Don't worry. There is no place for you here... but national rules require the Alliance to accept those who want to be adventurers.... very unwillingly."

The map had a black bat mark on it, where it said 'Alchemy Guild'.

Apparently, if we go there, I can sign up for the guild, too.

"Okay. Thanks for the guide."

That's what I said, head to the Adventurer Alliance exit.

Towards its back, the Branch Superintendent called out.

"One last thing, I'll give you thankful advice"

"What?

"Alchemists are the bottom line in this city. When you walk in the city, remember to thank the brave adventurers at best, keep your head down and walk."

"... right"

I didn't stop to read the Branch Commander's words and left the Alliance behind.

Apparently, the story that Turner was saying, 'Alchemists are being treated cold' was true.

But maybe it turned out good to be kicked out.

Thanks to this, you can leave the Adventurer's Guild and go to the Alchemy Guild.

Well, will it be until you see the Alchemy Guild to decide if it was good or not?

Then a few minutes later.

"... here?

I walked across the map, and I was in a building out of town.

The building sign says' Alchemy Guild Labyrinth City Branch '.

Despite that, he said, 'Is this it?' And the question took shape... because the building was too worn out.

The entrance door has a rusted hinge and is still about to come off.

The window seems to have been broken, and it seems to be blocked with appropriate plates.

I wouldn't be surprised if they told me that the Alchemy Guild has already been relocated and this is a post-relocation ruin.

If there really is an alchemist here, this level of damage should be easy to fix.

At least, it takes a moment or so to repair a broken window.

"You haven't dared to fix this...?

Some cultures in the world 500 years ago dared to love the old, the broken.

Something older than the new one has a flair...... for some reason.

Maybe this building is deliberately left worn out for that reason.

With that in mind, I pull the door that's about to break and enter the Alliance.

"The point of contact..."

"No way, are you a new subscriber!? This isn't an Adventurer's Guild, it's an Alchemy Guild, but does that fit!?

That's what the man inside screamed when I was looking for a registration desk.

The grin is the same as that of the Adventurer Guild's Branch Supervisor Risal... but there is no discomfort in this man's grin as he felt over there.

Purely a face that delights visitors to the Alliance.

"Oh. I want to make a new registration.... half-service alchemist, but can you still register?

"Of course! Come on, just sit down. I'll have the paperwork in between!

That said, the man gets a chair in front of the counter and urges me to sit down.

An adventurer's guild is a different response to 180 degrees...

The building and the chairs provided are worn out, but I prefer this one to the Adventurer Guild.

"Thanks"

That's what I say. I sit back in my chair.

A little while later, a man brought a piece of paper that said 'Application for new registration'.

"No, it's been a long time since you've asked me about your guild by saying you want to be an alchemist. Your grandfathers will be delighted."

"Grandfathers...?

"He belongs to our guild, the pharmacists' grandfathers. Well, we'll see each other sometime."

When it comes to pharmacists... are you referring to some of the alchemists who put particular emphasis on the formulation of medicines?

'You can't say you're an alchemist if you seem to only make drugs', the master said... but maybe you need those people where there are a lot of injured people out there, like in labyrinth cities.

With that in mind, my hand stopped as I filled in the blanks in the paperwork.

The Guild's application for registration contained an entry called 'Place of Origin'.

For once, I also have a place of origin...... Anyway, it's a place name 500 years ago, so the place name would have changed already.

As far as the transformation of the world is concerned, perhaps the city I was born in no longer exists.
