Chapter 133: Outside the gate.
Luka was someone who had spent most of his time in the farms and woods looking for food, he was able to track down lands to get better crosp and so. It was like a talent of his as someone who is a foodie, so he was also one to know about this to some extent. So she trusted his words.
"So where do you suggest we look?" she inquired.
He said, "Follow me." He led the way as they all followed him. Sunnie and her team left as they headed to another direction that wasn’t the farm at all, but outside the gate where Luka was leading them to.
The bear tribe was around, all searching through the farm for any signs. But the tribe leader looked and saw Luka leading his team to another spot.
He didn’t know where they were headed, but he got curious. Immediately, he brought a few of his men and asked them to follow him so they could see what Luka and his team were up to, and then told the rest to stay behind.
---
Luka and the rest arrived outside the gate, and Luka strolled by the bushes at the roadside.
"Why are we here, though?" Karl asked.
"Beats me," Eris said, a leaf over his head for protection against the sun.
Luka explained, "On our way there, I casually made an observation on the bushes at the roadside. I saw some unusual holes and some movement marks. Although I didn’t really put too much thought into it, after hearing what they said about the little animal, I’m guessing it could be there."
Sunnie slowly nodded. "Oh. Yeah, that could be so." She smiled. "So I think we should begin looking for it around here."
Luka nodded. "But I don’t know the exact spot. So to be more effective and get it done fast, I recommend we disperse and look for it."
They nodded in agreement.
"I also think so," Sunnie said.
And with that, they separated. Sunnie, Azure, and Maren went one way. Eris, Zukka, and Little Black went another way. Karl and Zayn went another route. Luka headed alone and volunteered to do so.
After that, they all set off to look for the little boar that was causing trouble for the tribe.
While they set off, the bear tribe poked out their heads. They had been peeping and eavesdropping for a while now.
"Do you think they know where they’re going?" one of them asked their tribe leader.
"I don’t know. But to be on the safer side, I think we should follow them," he explained.
They divided themselves and followed them all. The tribe leader and two other bear beastmen followed Luka closely.
---
Luka was moving all alone in the bushes, his eyes carefully scanning the ground for anything noticeable.
For a while, he didn’t see anything. But after some time, he began noticing a pattern—some marks and lines. He smiled at the scene. "Found it..." He continued tracking the marks and lines until he finally arrived at his destination.
He smiled as he saw the hole—the hole that obviously belonged to the little boar. Luka smiled. "Found you."
He looked around. Now it was time to find a way to get it out so he could bring it back—they wanted it alive.
So Luka began thinking of ways to achieve this. He moved around and found some fruits, which he used to lure it out.
It was successful; he could see it popping its head out to take a bite. And so Luka grabbed that opportunity.
He threw a rope at it and tied it around its neck. He pulled hard onto it as it tightened around its neck.
The little boar struggled to escape but to no avail. It kicked and kicked, but Luka pulled hard until it fell to the ground, exhausted. It didn’t move much anymore.
Luka approached it with a smile all over his face. "I did it." He felt extremely happy. "I did it." He couldn’t wait to take it to the rest of the team. He knew they would be happy and proud of him.
But as he approached to find a way to take the boar with him, he heard someone clapping from behind.
"Well! Look who it is!" Someone laughed from behind as he turned, shock filling his expression.
He didn’t expect to see their tribe leader and two of his tribe people. He stepped backwards. "What are you doing here...?"
They smiled as they stared down at what he had caught. "Interesting. I can’t believe you actually did something for once in your life," one said.
"What do you want?" Luka asked them. It was clear that fear was written all over his face. Even though he was stronger than them and could clearly destroy them, he was still scared of them. The memory of his trauma made him weak whenever he was around them. He guessed he couldn’t face them.
The bear tribe leader smiled as he said, "You useless bastard, who are you to even ask us that? Step aside so we can take what is rightfully ours."
Luka hesitated and muttered, "But I caught it..."
"Huh? What did you say?" The tribe leader questioned as he walked up to him. "How dare you think you can even speak to me? Have you forgotten what you are? In case you did, I’ll gladly remind you!"
"You lowly monster. A cursed being who killed his parents. Remember that is who you are! And someone like you doesn’t even deserve to be in this competition, so what makes you think you can get this?"
Luka was quiet. His eyes went down, shaking and quavering. He couldn’t even bring himself to speak.
The tribe leader laughed as he said, "A stupid monster thinking they’re worth anything! Just know that you’re not worth anything! So just get out of our way and hand us what rightfully belongs to us!" He snapped, pushing Luka aside.
