Chapter 166: Lazy Husbands?
The next day arrived, and Sunnie was the last person to wake up.
While others were already awake and preparing to make their way to the farm, Sunnie was still asleep.
Everyone allowed her to sleep a bit longer without waking her. They guessed she was still exhausted from all the traveling and work at the boar tribe, so they didn’t bother disturbing her.
When they were finally ready to leave, Sunnie woke up. She remembered that she had to join them for work that day, so she made her way outside.
"I’m so sorry for being late. I was so exhausted," she said, rubbing her eyes as she met them having breakfast. Zuna had warmed up the leftover meal from yesterday.
"It’s no problem at all," Elza smiled. "You must have been so exhausted, so we let you rest."
Eris smiled as he ate. "Exactly. You must have been so exhausted after your work that you couldn’t even move." He looked at her mischievously. "I wonder how long that work lasted."
Sunnie stared at him, and for some strange reason, she felt like he knew something about what had happened between her and Luka last night.
But she smiled and brushed it off. "I guess so."
She went to join them, sitting down and having breakfast.
Luka was proactive now. "Have this. I heard it’s better for your health." He offered her more vegetables from his own meal. "And you can also have my soup so you’ll have more strength for work."
Sunnie smiled as she stared at him with a nod. "Oh, I see... Thanks."
Luka smiled and nodded. "Or maybe you can stay back and rest some more while we go and work. You’ve been working since yesterday; you should rest a bit more."

Everyone paused, staring at the two of them, confused. They couldn’t help but wonder why the sudden change of atmosphere between these two. But Eris casually smiled, enjoying the scene.
"Eh, no, I’m okay. I have to be there on the first day of work, at least," she explained.
"Of course she has to. She can’t be lazy," the leader of the chipmunks lectured as the other chipmunks shushed him.
Eris smiled. "Yeah, female, listen to Luka. You can take all the rest you want. I mean, yesterday’s work wasn’t easy at all."
Sunnie stared at him again. "Is that so? Thanks for your kindness. But I’ll go to work."
Luka pouted with a nod. "Okay. If you say so."

"Okay..." The two of them exchanged warm, bright smiles.
Karl rolled his eyes as he said, "And what’s with the lovey-dovey atmosphere this morning? Can’t we eat in peace?"
Eris smiled. "Maybe you should get closer to the female if you want a happier life. Stop being such a hater."
"Shut up," Karl snapped.

They finished their breakfast and completed their preparations. Then they set off to the farm.
Sunnie had wanted to leave Maren at home with Elza, but the child was persistent about coming with them. So she had no choice but to carry her along.
She carried Maren as her husbands took turns carrying the bags while they made their way to the farm.
Luka, free from carrying a bag, approached Sunnie. "Let me carry little Maren. You must be so tired right now. Let me handle it. You can rest all you want."
"..."
Everyone blinked, speechless, as they stared at them.
Little Black folded his arms with a sigh. "Is it just me, or are those two acting so suspicious this morning? Did he eat something wrong last night?"
Eris smiled. "Oh, he sure did something."
They stared at him as he shrugged. "Nothing. Just saying."
Sunnie smiled at Luka. "Okay then, here." She handed little Maren over to him. Luka happily carried the little one as they made their way to the farm.

They soon arrived at their destination—the farm they had already cleared and prepared for planting.
Upon arrival, they stood there as the chipmunks and Sunnie approached the soil. They entered the field to inspect it before planting any crops.
Luka joined them. "I’ll keep you safe from any harm. You never know, a snake might still be alive," he said as little Maren nodded in agreement.
"Yes, I’ll also keep Mama safe."
Karl scoffed. "He couldn’t even fight the snakes head-on at first."
Eris smiled. "I guess love makes you do anything."
Sunnie smiled as she stared at them. "Okay then, if you say so."
She and the chipmunks continued their inspection. They observed that while they had been away for some time, the land had become a bit dirty. Plus, they hadn’t properly cleaned the land before.
The chipmunks pointed out the little rocks and pebbles, the small weeds, shrubs, fallen branches, and other debris.
"The land should at least be clean enough for us to begin work," the leader of the chipmunks explained as Sunnie nodded.
Karl folded his arms. "And what does he mean by that? That we didn’t do a good job? Does he know how hard we worked to clear that space?" he asked as Eris shrugged.
"I think he means we should make it cleaner," Little Black said.
"Well, then they should do it themselves. I don’t even have time for that land now," Karl said.
The leader of the chipmunks folded his arms. "Well, you have a bunch of lazy husbands here. They can’t even do some basic clearing."
Karl’s expression changed. Sunnie and the rest could see an obvious hint of annoyance in him. He was burning with fury as he glared at the little chipmunks standing at a distance before him.
Eris blinked as he stared at Karl, saying, "Oh, that’s not good."
