Chapter 256: System?! again?
Sunnie almost gagged while staring at him. She couldn’t believe her ears again.
"Huh?" She asked, blinking as Karl smiled.
Karl added, "What? Am I wrong? You’re my mate. My female. So isn’t it natural that I take good care of you so you will bear my cubs?"
He had a lingering smile on his face while he stared at her. Sunnie almost panicked while recalling the words of Zayn earlier.
What was wrong with these two husbands today? Why were the two of them suddenly taking good care of her in her moment of sickness? That was odd for the two of them.
And why were the two of them talking about the same thing? They were talking about her bearing their cubs. This was strange from them.
"Don’t be too scared," he smiled softly as he said. "You should get some rest now. It’s not like it’s going to happen now. You should get some rest and get healthy. Okay?" He smiled as he continued feeding her.
Sunnie didn’t think she was thinking straight. She simply blinked while nodding as she opened and closed her mouth, eating. Her mind was still lingering around those words.
Was it time for her to bear cubs for the two of them? And since the two of them were saying the same thing at the same time, she wondered who was going to be the first.
She shook her head as she let herself be fed by him. When he was done, he smiled as he patted her on the ear like a little bunny and smiled.
"Good girl. You’ve finished it. Now get some rest so you can get better as soon as possible." He smiled while patting her.
Sunnie blinked without words. He was done as he took her hand. The bird was gently caressing his hand against hers as though keeping her warm.
"Would you want me to keep you warm with my wings tonight?" He asked, leaning close to her.
Sunnie smiled as she stared at him. "Are you teasing me now? Is this your way of getting back at me for all those teasing I gave you back then?" She raised an eyebrow.
He smiled as he ran his hand through her fingers. "And why would I tease you?"
"Just saying..." She smiled.
Karl smiled as he shook his head. "You should get some rest. See you soon." He got up to his feet with the bowl of meat, which was now empty. And so he turned and walked off, leaving Sunnie alone in there.
Sunnie sat there alone, staring as he left while panicking inside. By the time he was gone, she gasped as she stared into thin air.
"What’s going on? Why do the two of them want cubs? Are they feeling oppressed by the others who already have cubs? What is this behavior?" She couldn’t help but search her brain for possible explanations.
But she wasn’t getting anything at all. She shook her head as she said, "System..." She summoned. "Do you have any idea of what’s happening?"
[Host, I can’t help you with that.]
[There’s nothing on data now to present.]
Sunnie cast her system a cold glare as she scoffed. "Never of help."
[But Host should be calm and not get overly excited.]
Sunnie stared at her. "Overly excited? And who’s overly excited? You’re just saying anything! I’m not..." She said with a scoff as she looked away.
She could deny to the system that she wasn’t getting excited at all, but she couldn’t possibly deny the fact that her cheeks had gone pink.
---
At night, the atmosphere was bustling. Everyone gathered at their different spots around the fire while they had their meals.
Now at their fast-developing tribe, the meal wasn’t necessarily cooked together. And everyone wasn’t necessarily having the same thing from the same big pot.
Sunnie and the women had already made it possible that everyone could possibly prepare what they wanted to have and eat at their different corners and kitchens while sharing from the same source of storage.
The chipmunks could prepare their own meal while the mouse tribe household could have theirs. It had become like that now for more diversity amongst them while the fun expanded.
Luna was never contented. After eating from her own, she would run off to visit the chipmunks at their stand and request that they spare her some meal from their pot.
"I’m hungry," she’d say even if she had already eaten from two other places.
The leader of the chipmunks would shake his head but still offer her a meal. No one could turn down the adorable little one even though they were certain that she had eaten everywhere else.
After Luna was done eating, she would rush and come meet the rest under the tree where Maren had gathered all the kids.
Kids from Little Black’s tribe were also there—including Ronan, Mii, and Lune. All sitting under the tree before Maren, who was telling them stories.
And then Luna would rush and go sit down close to Ronan while the story was going on.
Almost every night, Maren would tell them different stories from the forest. She would tell them stories of different tribes and different animals—from funny stories to scary stories, she always had something to tell them.
And everyone would listen attentively.
"Where did you get all these stories?" Luna would ask at the end as if she was listening.
Maren smiled as she said, "Of course from Mama. She told me while I was little." Maren proudly said.
She could recall the time when she was still young and Sunnie would tell her endless stories. She always loved listening to stories, and she would be the happiest when Sunnie would tell her them.
And now she was grown up, she was the one telling everyone stories every night under the tree while they gathered and listened happily.
It was always a harmonious scene for the little ones while they gathered and listened to stories while the adults did other things.
